Mobile robots (MR) simulation software solutions are already available. Usually, these software packages are focused on fully simulating MR operation with virtual worlds, virtual sensors or actuators and virtual robots. This paper discusses the use of a Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) simulation interface for wheeled mobile robots for the purpose of saving precious time for researchers in order to allow them to test different algorithms and to do code improvements on the remote or local controllers without having to take care of the physical movement of the robot under test. This article places a particular emphasis on emulating wheel encoders.

Main goal of this article is the exploration of using LoRa, a low-speed and low-power data radiocommunication technology, designed primary for IoT use, for tracking and control of fast-moving objects (vehicle/mobile robots). Because of the complexity of simulation of radio propagation in urban areas, experimental study was the best option. Also, the idea is to use a long-range low-speed technology as a backup strategy for cellular based modern radiocommunications technologies. While theoretically with LoRa is possible to achieve direct radio links in the order of tens and even hundreds of kilometers, this is hardly achievable in urban areas.

The paper presents the SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) model, implemented on multifunction reconfigurable I/O (RIO) FPGA module NI 7841R with the use of the graphical programming language LabVIEW. The model was prepared for the real-time HiL (Hardware in the Loop) platform. The model is virtual counterpart of the real SRM motor, which was originally designed to be used in household goods. The SRM model is in the form of magnetostatic characteristics of torque, current, flux, and rotor position. To obtain it the numerical open-software simulations and real measurements, based on voltage versus current tests were used. Instead of the model description the paper presents also routines to create and implement the model on FPGA target.

Multifractal characteristics of the retinal vascular networks in healthy patients and patients with peripapillary atrophy (PPA) are compared in the paper. Segmented and skeletonized fundus images from the DRIVE database were analyzed over the image region corresponding to the macular area and over the whole image. The regional and overall multifractal characteristics of fundi could serve as further clues in detecting human PPA and for quantifying the pathological stages of PPA cases.
