3D metal printing, or additive technology, has developed significantly in recent years. This new technology brings an entirely new form of design freedom. In the processing of magnetically soft materials, which means a significant deterioration of properties compared to conventional technologies. In principle, the selective laser melting technology causes microstructural defects that affect the mobility of the magnetic domain walls. A big challenge is also mastering the printing of heterogeneous structures that will allow the suppression of eddy currents. This article aims to point out the effect of annealing, which mitigates the impact of internal defects and improves the valuable properties of the material. The research was carried out on toroidal samples INVAR 36, i.e., binary alloy Fe-36The results document that standard annealing process increases the steepness of the magnetization curve, the loop knee is sharper, the maximum permeability increases 2.7 times. Losses are noticeably reduced if the material does not work in the saturation region. © 2023 IEEE.

This article is a part of the project focused on collecting, analyzing, and classifying road surface data. It describes a subsystem for reconstructing vehicle trajectories without Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) signals, based on rear wheel speeds, as well as our framework for generating synthetic rear wheel speeds using Mathworks tools such as MATLAB Driving Scenario Designer. In addition to solving the main problem of detecting road surface defects described in other our works [1], [2], [3], our method solves the problem of improving vehicle positioning, especially in areas with weak or unavailable GNSS signals, leading to more accurate localization of defects on the trajectory. Using artificial data obtained with the help of our framework based on such tools as MATLAB Driving Scenario Designer in developing the trajectory reconstruction method allowed us to save time and resources on the development. For example, there was no need to conduct a large series of experiments with real vehicles, leading to wear of vehicle components (for example, suspension). Our path reconstruction method, based on the Ackermann model, ensures continuous and accurate trajectory tracking. Filtering methods, such as the Savitzky-Golay filter, reduce noise and improve data quality, ensuring accurate trajectory reconstruction, which will ultimately improve the accuracy of defect localization on the routes, as well as improve monitoring and maintenance of infrastructure.

This paper presents a novel approach to improving the precision of robotic arm operations in complex environments by using Perfect Bit Field Imaging (PBFI) for end effector command pose error detection. Accurate pose determination is essential for tasks such as manipulation, assembly, and autonomous navigation, particularly in space or hazardous settings where precision is critical. PBFI leverages high-resolution industrial cameras to capture detailed pixel-level information that can be used to correct the end effector’s position. The system’s key advantage is its low-cost nature, making it an attractive alternative to expensive sensor-based approaches. Advanced image processing techniques are used to interpret bit fields, allowing for quick and reliable pose corrections that reduce the need for recalibration and minimize the impact of external disturbances. Additionally, the approach is adaptable to various robotic arm configurations and operational conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and space-based applications. This research opens new avenues for enhancing robotic precision in challenging environments, contributing to the advancement of cost-effective autonomous systems.

By the unceasing efforts of many scientists, machine learning algorithms are increasing quickly with an enhanced object detection performance for the explicit applications on specific devices. This paper investigates the operation of TurtleBot3 as an educational wheeled autonomous robot which Tiny-YOLO algorithm has been applied as a novel application on it. At first, the required knowledge about the kinematics and dynamics of a differential drive robot with constraints is studied, and a graph where the robot is working under some specific conditions is plotted. The robot operating system (ROS) and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) of the TurtleBot3 have been explained. The robot is equipped with a LiDAR sensor and a camera embedded onto it as a sensor fusion SLAM for a more precise type of mapping. Finally, Tiny-YOLO as a machine learning algorithm for object detection is implemented based on the fact that Raspberry Pi could not handle the full YOLO due to its memory capacity limitation, and the results are discussed. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Imagining different spheres such as industry, medicine, education, and others undigitized nowadays is impossible. Wide digitalization leads to the significant growth of various data amounts. The data processing and analysis issue became a real challenge. This work is intended to show the author’s vision of the probable methods and solutions for the data array analysis. The article touches on accelerometer data analysis. It was decided to take road pavement defects identification and classification issue as a practical task to show the implementation of the theoretical assumptions. In this paper, the authors demonstrate the application of Recurrent Neural Networks such as Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTM), Convolutional Neural Networks LSTM (CNN-LSTM), and Convolutional LSTM (ConvLSTM) in the context of road pavement binary classification (defect or not a defect). Experiments have shown that sophisticated architectures (CNN-LSTM and ConvLSTM) compared to the basic LSTM have an 8-11% larger recall value; at the same time, comparing CNN-LSTM and ConvLSTM, according to the results of experiments, ConvLSTM has up to 13% increase in the precision metric, that is the best result among three Neural Networks described in the paper. Moreover, such aspects as the influence of the accelerometer position on the sensitivity of the sensor and acceleration data sets were also discussed.

This paper deals with dynamic Blind Source Extraction (BSE) from where the mixing parameters characterizing the position of a source of interest (SOI) are allowed to vary over time. We present a new source extraction model called CvxCSV which is a parameter-reduced modification of the recent Constant Separation Vector (CSV) mixing model. In CvxCSV, the mixing vector evolves as a convex combination of its initial and final values. We derive a lower bound on the achievable mean interference-to-signal ratio (ISR) based on the Cramér-Rao theory. The bound reveals advantageous properties of CvxCSV compared with CSV and compared with a sequential BSE based on independent component extraction (ICE). In particular, the achievable ISR by CvxCSV is lower than that by the previous approaches. Moreover, the model requires significantly weaker conditions for identifiability, even when the SOI is Gaussian. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper studies an algorithm for determining the flicker severity of luminous flux produced by artificial lighting systems. The algorithm is defined in time domain and constitutes an alternative to the widely used flicker observer model (light flickermeter) known as IEC technical Report 61547-1:2015. The paper describes and discusses a few aspects related to the implementation of the algorithm. An alternative filter definition is suggested. Aim of the paper is to conduct a survey of the present market, focusing on the best-selling retrofit LED lamps and to analyze experimentally their fundamental EMC performance for subsequent classification of the LED drivers. Two stage experimental characterization testing approach is adopted. First, input current and output luminous flux in steady-state under nominal supply conditions is acquired. Next, transfer of input supply voltage interharmonics to output visible flicker components in terms of gain factor curves is obtained. Based on the achieved and discussed testing results, classification of the LED lamps is developed. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper concerns with the design of experiments aimed at determining whether the critical flicker frequency (CFF) is subject to change when the observer is exposed to pulsating sounds. The paper describes the work done in designing the experiments and also reveals data from a preliminary campaign. Data do not form a basis to prove a direct link between pulsating sound and CFF, but can be used to better adjust the conditions before the full campaign. © 2022 IEEE.
