The standard flickermeter (voltage flickermeter) algorithm commonly used for the evaluation of flicker severity in current electromagnetic compatibility standards originates from the 1980 s. It was developed to mimic irritation of an average human observer by flickering incandescent lamp as a reference light source and optimized to voltage fluctuations caused by arc furnaces. However, the algorithm is questionable as the situation in the grid changed since the 1980 s;many modern devices are being connected to the grid, creating voltage distortion patterns which are not properly recognized by the voltage flickermeter. In addition, incandescent lamps have been largely replaced by discharge lamps and later by LEDs. Transitioning the algorithm from incandescent lamp light to LED light requires detailed revision of every part of the algorithm. This paper is concerned with verifying the frequency weighting function of the average human observer which is one of the bases of the voltage flickermeter, as well as of the derived light flickermeter. Flicker sensitivity of 34 human observers is measured with two different light sources (LED warm and neutral white, incandescent lamp) and compared with the frequency weighting function used in the current specification of the flickermeters in standards. Finally, an optimization of the weighting function is proposed based on the findings. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

The approach encompassed under this model introduces stock trend forecasting using a new approach that involves Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) supplemented with technical indicators like the Exponential Moving Average (EMA), Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), and Relative Strength Index (RSI). This study reacts to the limitations of traditional methods like ARIMA and GARCH due to their shortcomings with non-linear dependence on stock data. The robust solution for trend prediction closely follows the hierarchical learning of CNN. This model attains a remarkable accuracy of 99% in stock trend prediction using Convolutional Neural Networks, fine-tuning crucial but elaborate patterns for stock price movements. The forecast results categorize stock trends as Neutral, Bullish, and Bearish, with validation shown from high precision, recall, and F1-scores computed from complete classification reports and confusion matrices. The capability of forecasting provides tremendous assistance in making informed investment decisions. These results prove that CNNs more efficiently predict stocks if combined with technical analysis and give portions of insight to traders. This study shows the capacity to apply various deep learning techniques in finance to enhance stock trend predictions and shape on-the-ground investment strategies. The study fills an existing gap in research with the introduction of combining CNN with technical indicators in the prediction models for improvement with predictive power and accuracy. © 2025 IEEE.

The article describes design and development of an ice detection device that uses a real 1 m part of an electric copper trolley wire for its operation. The wire part is oriented in the same direction as the trolley wire in the given place and thus a high compliance of the ice sensor with real conditions (spatial dimensions, orientation and heat capacity) is achieved. An ice meter equipped with this sensor can determine the robustness and duration of ice phenomena on trolley wires much more accurately and uses this information to deduce the risk of endangering public transport. The ice detector works on the principle of strain gauge load cell weighing. For its own diagnostics, the device can also measure temperature and relative humidity and is equipped with heating wires so that the movable parts of the device do not freeze. © 2021 IEEE.

precise estimations of consuming load profiles are crucial for the successful oversight of electrical energy systems in both financial & environmental terms. Based on this foundation, it is feasible to strategize & execute the utilization of manageable power generation and storage systems, along with power acquisition, considering the necessary preparation as well as technological and contract limitations. The documented electrical load profiles will significantly rise throughout the digitization of the energy sector. To enhance prediction accuracy, it is essential to create and analyze models that consider the increasing data volume and aim to enhance predicting accuracy through an increased number of data. Artificial neural networks (ANN) are being more commonly employed to address not linear issues involving large datasets influenced by humans and various other unexpected factors. The artificial neural network (ANN) technique is selected to forecast load patterns. The study aims to simulate and evaluate the efficacy & optimal performance of prediction models using an Artificial Neural Network for power consumption profiles. © 2024 IEEE.

Battery storage systems are increasingly being used in households with renewable energy generation in order to optimize the exchange of electrical energy with the network. This raises the question of how such battery storage systems affect flicker emission due to the additional power dynamics. This paper examines the influence of two commercial battery storage systems on flicker and harmonic emission using reproducible laboratory experiments. The results show that both systems have a small, but significant influence on flicker emission. The causes of the behavior are analyzed and shown. These results contribute to the understanding of power quality challenges in the context of increasing distributeed power generation and prosumer households.

This paper presents a case study of application of the preconditioned method of conjugate gradients (CG) on a problem with operator resembling the structure of sum of Kronecker products. In particular, we are solving the Poisson's equation on a sample of homogeneous isotropic ferroelectric material of cuboid shape, where the Laplacian is discretized by finite difference. We present several preconditioners that fits the Kronecker structure and thus can be efficiently implemented and applied. Preconditioner based on the Moore-Penrose pseudoinverse is extremely efficient for this particular problem, and also applicable (if we are able to store the dense right-hand side of our problem). We briefly analyze the computational cost of the method and individual preconditioners, and illustrate effectiveness of the chosen one by numerical experiments. Although we describe our method as preconditioned CG with pseudoinverse-based preconditioner, it can also be seen as pseudoinverse-based direct solver with iterative refinement by CG iteration. Universal kinetics of the stochastic formation of polarization domain structures in a uniaxial single-crystal ferroelectric

Initial conditions after quenching from a high-temperature paraelectric phase to a low-temperature ferroelectric phase have a substantial impact on the temporal development and formation of stable polarization domain structures which eventually determine physical properties and the functionality of ferroelectrics. Based on the recently advanced exactly solvable model of the stochastic domain structure kinetics in a uniaxial ferroelectric [Phys. Rev. B 107, 144109 (2023)], we study the effect of the magnitude of the initial disorder, its initial correlation length, and polarization correlation function on the system evolution. For different shapes of the initial correlation function, the time-dependent correlation length and the two-point polarization correlation coefficient are calculated analytically, demonstrating universal features and good agreement with the available experimental data. Particularly, the magnitude of the charge density correlation function reveals a strong reduction of the bound charges at the nominally charged domain walls which was recently observed experimentally in uniaxial ferroelectrics. Consequently, the integrodifferential equations of evolution for the polarization correlation function and the mean polarization are numerically solved for different initial conditions. The temporal dependence of the polarization mean value and variance are evaluated, demonstrating the bifurcation behavior depending on the applied electric field. The impact of the initial state properties on the coercive field deciding between the single- and multidomain final states of the system is disclosed.

Vehicular ad hoc networks(VANETs)provide intelligent navigation and efficient route management,resulting in time savings and cost reductions in the transportation ***,the exchange of beacons and messages over public channels among vehicles and roadside units renders these networks vulnerable to numerous attacks and privacy *** address these challenges,several privacy and security preservation protocols based on blockchain and public key cryptography have been proposed ***,most of these schemes are limited by a long execution time and massive communication costs,which make them inefficient for on-board units(OBUs).Additionally,some of them are still susceptible to many *** such,this study presents a novel protocol based on the fusion of elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)and bilinear pairing(BP)*** formal security analysis is accomplished using the Burrows–Abadi–Needham(BAN)logic,demonstrating that our scheme is verifiably *** proposed scheme’s informal security assessment also shows that it provides salient security features,such as non-repudiation,anonymity,and ***,the scheme is shown to be resilient against attacks,such as packet replays,forgeries,message falsifications,and *** the performance perspective,this protocol yields a 37.88%reduction in communication overheads and a 44.44%improvement in the supported security ***,the proposed scheme can be deployed in VANETs to provide robust security at low overheads.

Mobile robots (MR) simulation software solutions are already available. Usually, these software packages are focused on fully simulating MR operation with virtual worlds, virtual sensors or actuators and virtual robots. This paper discusses the use of a Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) simulation interface for wheeled mobile robots for the purpose of saving precious time for researchers in order to allow them to test different algorithms and to do code improvements on the remote or local controllers without having to take care of the physical movement of the robot under test. This article places a particular emphasis on emulating wheel encoders. © 2023 IEEE.

We report a theoretical investigation of a charged 180∘ domain wall in ferroelectric PbTiO3, compensated by randomly distributed immobile charge defects. For this we utilize atomistic shell-model simulations and continuous phase-field simulations in the framework of the Ginzburg-Landau-Devonshire model. We predict that domain walls form a zigzag pattern and we discuss their properties in a broad interval of compensation-region widths, ranging from a couple to over 100 nm. The zigzag is accompanied by a local polarization rotation which we explain to provide an efficient mechanism for charge compensation.
