It is known that the restoring force acting on a disequilibrated domain wall is the key factor, which controls macroscopic values of extrinsic (i.e. domain wall) contributions to permittivity and piezoelectricity. Considering the bulk properties of perovskites, the main contribution to the restoring force comes from the interaction of domain walls with so called pinning centers (PnCs) such as crystal lattice point defects or dislocations. It is clear that the number of PnCs can be essentially controlled by the material composition and the processing technology. In addition, there exist two types of domain wall movement between PnCs: First, the planar wall passes through the PnC and, second, the domain wall bends between PnCs. It has been shown by analytical modeling that each physical phenomenon that controls the restoring force on the domain wall introduces qualitatively different macroscopic features to the nonlinear dielectric and piezoelectric response. These features can be identified in experimental data. In the presented work, we develop an analytical model for extrinsic contribution due to reversible movements of pinned planar (e.g. ferroelectric-ferroelastic) domain walls. Qualitative features of the analytical model are verified using phase-field simulations.

This article is focused on the process of artificial leather production in the automotive industry (e.g. the artificial leather on a car dashboard). One successful manufacturing process is the heating of the mould surface by infrared heaters located above the mould. We will describe one model of mould warming, as well as a method to calculate the heat radiation intensity on the mould surface in order to pinpoint the location of infrared heaters. During the calculation of heat radiation intensity across the mould surface, we will use experimental measured values for the heat radiation intensity from a sensor in proximity to an infrared heater. It is necessary to maintain approximately the same heat radiation intensity across the whole mould surface during warming process. The model described in this article allows us to optimize the infrared heaters' location for this purpose. In this way, we obtain the same material structure and color tone across the whole surface of an artificial leather. We will apply a genetic algorithm to optimize the heaters' location. A computational procedure of heat radiation intensity across mould surface and heaters location optimization was programmed in the language Matlab. The last chapter provides a practical example with a description of the solution. © 2012 IEEE.

This report proposes a novel variant of the generalized sidelobe canceler. It assumes that a set of prepared relative transfer functions (RTFs) is available for several potential positions of a target source within a confined area. The key problem here is to select the correct RTF at any time, even when the exact position of the target is unknown and interfering sources are present. We propose to select the RTF based on l p -norm, p ≤ 1, measured at the blocking matrix output in the frequency domain. Subsequent experiments show that this approach significantly outperforms previously proposed methods for selection when the target and interferer signals are speech signals.

The ring shaped rare earth permanent magnets are tested in conditions corresponding to the magnetic spring, where two magnets acts in repulsive direction. The mathematical model based on the surface bounded currents was used for calculation of external field and spring forces. The magnet polarization uniformity was measured from external flux density close to magnet surface. The measurement was designed to distinguish the experimental errors from the magnet polarization errors. The agreement between experiment and model was good in all cases. The flux density scatter on the concentric circle close to magnet surface vary from 3.2 to 12.8 % on one magnet sample and the average value vary about 14 % between samples. The crank mechanism was used to simulate the magnet aging in a real condition of the magnetic spring. The repulsive force was periodically monitored during more than 120 millions of spring cycles. The observed force decrease was 2 % at the spring working point at a distance of 1 mm.

The paper contains the definition of speed and position range, continue on basic gantry solution with friction linear bearing and drive selection. The next chapter is about controlling system with closed loop stepper motor control. The other chapter describes HMI visualization and touchscreen control interface. In the conclusion there are characteristic of final gantry robot discussed.

Architectures based on multiple layers of thick gas electron multipliers offer an answer to the quest for novel gaseous counters with single photon detection capability able to overcome all the limitations of the present generation of gaseous photon detectors. A systematic R&D programme has been performed to achieve a deep understanding of the characteristics of these multipliers and to optimize their parameters in view of the photon detection application. Recently a new hybrid approach has been considered: an architecture where the last multiplication stage is obtained by using a MICROMEGAS structure. The characteristics of the hybrid detector are discussed and preliminary results obtained with a first prototype are reported.

The paper describes theoretical and mainly experimental evaluation of power transfer from a primary to a secondary coil and a transmission of an on-off signal back with an inductive coupling of pair of identical RFID antennas for 125 kHz band. Their function uses principles of RFID systems. The impact of conductive parts around the coils was also examined. The results were intended to design a simple telemetry system which transfers temperature data from a special rotor.

Numerical simulations of the elastic properties of Macro Fiber Composite (MFC) actuator shunted by an electric circuit with a negative capacitance are presented. If connected in parallel to the piezoelectric plate, the circuit with a negative capacitance has a significant influence on the elastic parameters of the piezoelectric actuator. Such an effect can be profitably used for a vibration and noise suppression, where the piezoelectric element works as an actuator and a sensor at the same time. The major advantages of the piezoelectric fiber composite actuators are their high performance, flexibility, and durability, when compared to the traditional piezoceramic (PZT) actuators. The recently developed MFC actuator provides these advantages and can be used in structural vibration applications. In this study, it is shown that the MFC can be controlled by the circuit with a negative capacitance. Finite Element Method (FEM) approach is used to obtaining frequency spectra of capacitance of MFC actuator and to show the ability to change the effective elastic parameters, when connected to the negative capacitance circuit.
