TraCemop: Towards Federated Learning with Traceable Contribution Evaluation and Model Ownership Protection

Federated Learning (FL) allows multiple clients to collaboratively train machine learning models without the need to share their local private data. As a result, it can effectively address the issue of data fragmentation. Nevertheless, insufficient evaluation of individual contributions and the lack of protections for both the intellectual property rights (IPR) of models and client privacy can greatly reduce clients' motivations in federated training. To address these challenges, this paper introduces the Traceable Contribution Evaluation and Model Ownership Protection (TraCemop) framework for federated learning, which allows each client to swiftly assess the contributions of others in each round, with integrated support for the traceability of evaluation results. To safeguard the intellectual property of models, a collective watermark is embedded in the global model. Additionally, a secure mechanism for verifying model ownership is also available in case of disputes. Security analysis indicates that TraCemop is capable of resisting data reconstruction attacks as well as various types of model copyright infringements. Finally, we evaluate the proposed framework using two commonly-used datasets, and the experimental results show a significant improvement in the efficiency of contribution evaluation compared to existing methods. Meanwhile, IPR infringement tests on TraCemop reveal that the proposed framework is resilient against malicious efforts to monopolize model ownership. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

The widespread acceptance of multimedia application has stimulated the development of multimedia server and its file system to guarantee the real-time requirement of continuous media streams. We designed and prototyped a continuous media file system on top of clustered workstations, called Crown(Clustered resources on workstations' network). Its file system, CrovmFS, guarantees glitch-less streams to many clients at the same time. Currently, many multimedia or continuous media server system is under development on top of either workstations or high-end PCs clustered with high speed networking facilities. In this paper we introduce Crown, a continuous media server on clustered high performance PCs with Myrinet, fast network switching equipment, and then address CrownFS, a file system on top of Crown, to offer continuous media streams to many subscribers at the same time. For easy and rapid tuning of the performance of CrownFS, we prototyped it. Prototyping requires less efforts and costs than direct implementation. Also, more reliable system optimization is obtainable rather than simulation. By using the prototype, we measured the scalability of CrownFS according to disk access strategies.

We present a threshold signature based on non-internative Diffie-Hellman signature. It works in asynchronous communication system and can tolerate Byzantine faults with optimal resilience n ≥ = 3t + 1, where n is the number of the participants and t is the number of the fault participants. The security of this scheme bases on discrete logarithm intractability assumption. We give the security analysis of our proposed threshold signature scheme.

To enhance the dependability of lightweight blockchain, this paper presents a privacy protection mechanism in open networks with a secure ledger for each cell of society. We propose a swarm intelligence scheme called hierarchical RAFT (HRAFT), which accumulates valuable workloads about the credibility of all the nodes to sort for selecting candidates. Thus, the scheme achieves high-performance decentralization by progressive evolution consensus.

This paper presents a framework for distributed service discovery based on VIRGO P2P technologies. The services are classified as multi-layer, hierarchical catalogue domains according to their contents. The service providers, which have their own service registries such as UDDIs, register the services they provide and establish a virtual tree in a VIRGO network according to the domain of their service. The service location done by the proposed strategy is effective and guaranteed. This paper also discusses the primary implementation of service discovery based on Tomcat/Axis and jUDDI.

A Massive MIMO system is equipped with more antennas than traditional MIMO system. Channel modeling for MIMO system has been well studied. However, study for Massive MIMO system channel modeling has just begun. In this paper, we prove the correctness of the spherical wave assumption and the non-stationary properties on both time and array axes. Then, we propose a novel twin-multi-ring channel model for massive MIMO. This model is based on the extension of a multi-ring model for MIMO. Furthermore, we consider the appearance and disappearance of clusters by “Cluster generation algorithm”. Finally, we make the simple numerical analysis for the model, and we find the characteristic is well matching the measurements.
