On the basis of analyzing the composition of losses in high-efficient high-voltage asynchronous motors, the approaches of increasing the efficiency of the motors is investigated in this paper. The approaches concern with the improvement of material, winding, fan, magnetic groove and so on. By taking the economy and efficiency into account synthetically, the design of the YKK series induction motors is carried on, and it is realized by software simulation. © 2011 IEEE.

With the improvement of target maneuvering performance, noises statistical character changes correspondingly in the opto-electronic tracking system. To solve this problem, robust extend Kalman filter (REKF) based on the acceleration non-zero mean value time-correlation model was given in this paper. Result of the simulation shows that, comparing with extend Kalman filter, the prediction precision of REKF is almost twice as much as that of EKF. And at the same time, REKF has good robustness to overcome the effect coursed by stochastic measurement noises.

In this paper, a microgrid hierarchical control scheme is proposed which includes primary and secondary control levels. The primary level comprises distributed generators (DGs) local controllers. The local controller mainly consists of active and reactive power controllers, voltage and current controllers, and virtual impedance loop. A novel virtual impedance structure is proposed to achieve proper sharing of non-fundamental power among the microgrid DGs. The secondary level is designed to manage compensation of voltage harmonics at the microgrid load bus (LB) to which the sensitive loads may be connected. Also, restoration of LB voltage amplitude and microgrid frequency to the rated values is directed by the secondary level. These functions are achieved by sending proper control signals to the local controllers. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. © 2011 IEEE.

An OJ system is an online system to test programs in programming contests automatically. Performance enhancement of OJ systems in SMP environment is described in this paper. First, we introduce the affinity algorithm to improve the precision of the user programs' processing time. Second, by using queuing theory, a theoretical analysis and improvement of the system's performance indicators are given. By implementing these mechanisms, the average capacity of simultaneously judging tasks will increase while the judging results will become more precise, and the total number of computers in an OJ system will decrease, yielding lower hardware costs.

Rational approximation of fractional order (FO) elements is becoming increasing important in fractional order control design and signal processing. Among the available continuous time and discrete rational approximation techniques, the Oustaloup's recursive filter which gives a band-limited realization of FO elements is the focus of the present study. Its another variant, commonly known as modified Oustaloup's filter is also analyzed in the same light, so as to produce low order analog approximation of FO differ-integrators. © 2011 IEEE.

Reducing the emissions produced by the electric power production may be one of the most challenging problems of the electricity sector in the coming future. As one of the potential solutions, demand response (DR) can play an important role to reduce emissions and costs associated with emission reduction activities. This paper aims to assess the short-term impacts of running a DR program on a power system constrained by emissions caps. The DR program is designed to procure operating reserve from demand-side participants. A day-ahead network-constrained market clearing model with emission cap constraints is used as the assessment tool, where the DR program participants along with generating units are considered as available resources to provide reserve for the system. A model is also presented for reserve provided by DRPs and its associated cost function. The proposed approach is applied to the IEEE-RTS to illustrate the impacts of the DR program.

This paper proposes a new objective function for solving the optimal management of MicroGrid (MG) problem. This objective function aims to minimize MicroGrid's operating cost as well as the emissions of atmospheric pollutants while constraining it to meet the load demands. Some Objective constraints are presented in this paper for the safety of MG system. Moreover, the particle swarm-based-simulated annealing (PSO-B-SA) optimization algorithm is proposed to optimizing microsource output for the MG problem. The simulation study is on a sixteen bus system for one day load demands. The results demonstrate the validity and high-efficiency of the proposed algorithm to reduce the cost as well as the emissions while satisfying the load demands.

A neural based PID feedback control method for networked process control systems is presented. As there are some uncertain factors such as external disturbance, randomly delayed measurements or control demands in real networked process control systems, the proposed PID controller is implemented by backpropagation neural networks whose weights are updated via minimizing tracking error entropy of closed loop systems. To demonstrate the potential applications of the proposed strategy, an example of a simulated batch reactor is provided. The proposed design method is shown to be useful and effective in dealing with network process control systems. © 2011 Zhejiang University.

A novel scheme based on generalized leakage inductance (GLI) to distinguish the inrush current from the internal fault current in the power transformer is proposed. By eliminating the mutual flux linkage in the transformer loop equation and adopting the trapezoid principle, the GLI is calculated in the real time. According to the difference between the GLI and the leakage inductance obtained from transformer manufacturer, the criterion to identify the internal fault is developed. A total of 162 experimental cases have been tested and the proposed method is able to reliably and accurately discriminate internal faults from inrush currents with easy implementation. Also, the method is suitable if it is not possible to measure the currents in the delta winding. Furthermore, the method is independent of the B-H curve and iron losses.
