Somatic cell nuclear transfer is a mammalian cloning method that involves replacing the oocyte nucleus with a somatic cell nucleus. One of the most critical steps in this process is the efficient production of large numbers of enucleated oocytes. While a single-micropipette-based manual enucleation method has been widely used in manual cloning, it is still a manual operation that requires exceptional technical skills and experience. Additionally, it is difficult to accurately control the amount of enucleation and to meet the demand for high-throughput enucleation. Therefore, we propose a robotic enucleation method using a single micropipette for zona-free oocytes, which allows for the detection and control of the amount of enucleation, as well as continuous enucleation on a large scale. A single oocyte enucleation can be completed in less than 13 seconds. This robotic enucleation method provides a solution for enhancing the operational efficiency of robotic somatic cell nuclear transfer.

Accelerating the immense workloads of Neural Networks (NNs) is a critical challenge, and analog computing-based approaches present a promising solution. Among these, the Integrate-and-Fire (IF) Spiking Neural Network (SNN) stands out for its potential in efficient neural computation. However, achieving high inference accuracy through precise multiply-accumulate (MAC) operations necessitates a large membrane capacitor—224 to 547 times larger than the synapse array at the 14nm technology node—resulting in prohibitive area costs. Additionally, the large capacitor size introduces higher energy consumption and longer access times. Thus, a key research challenge is maintaining accuracy while mitigating the costs associated with the large membrane capacitor. In this work, we propose a HW/SW Codesign method, called CapMin, for capacitor size minimization in analog computing IF-SNNs. CapMin minimizes the capacitor size by reducing the number of spike times needed for accurate operation of the HW, based on the absolute frequency of MAC level occurrences in the SW. To increase the operation of IF-SNNs to current variation, we propose the method CapMin-V, which trades capacitor size for protection based on the reduced capacitor size found in CapMin. In our experiments, CapMin achieves more than a 14 $\times$ reduction in capacitor size along with a 34% reduction in energy consumption over the state of the art, while CapMin-V achieves increased variation tolerance in the IF-SNN operation, requiring only a small increase in capacitor size.

Intrusion detection technology can effectively evaluate the security state of the system. However, the accuracy of traditional intrusion detection methods still needs to be improved. Therefore, this paper proposed a SVM model based on improved QPSO. QPSO is used to optimize the hyperparameters of SVM to improve its accuracy. In addition, the shrinkage expansion coefficient in QPSO is improved to make QPSO adaptive. Experiment shows that the proposed algorithm has good performance. © 2022 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Face anti-spoofing is crucial for ensuring the security and reliability of face recognition systems. Several existing face anti-spoofing methods utilize GAN-like networks to detect presentation attacks by estimating the noise pattern of a spoof image and recovering the corresponding genuine image. But GAN’s limited face appearance space results in the denoised faces cannot cover the full data distribution of genuine faces, thereby undermining the generalization performance of such methods. In this work, we present a pioneering attempt to employ diffusion models to denoise a spoof image and restore the genuine image. The difference between these two images is considered as the spoof noise, which can serve as a discriminative cue for face anti-spoofing. We evaluate our proposed method on several intra-testing and inter-testing protocols, where the experimental results showcase the effectiveness of our method in achieving competitive performance in terms of both accuracy and generalization. In this study, a delicate fractional-order fast terminal sliding mode controller is proposed for the position and attitude tracking of a quadrotor UAV under actuator saturation. In this controller, the fractional order calculus is incorporated to the fast terminal sliding mode surface design, which can enhance the convergence speed of the controlled UAV system. Meanwhile, to solve the problem of actual control input limitation, a RBF-based estimator is designed to evaluate the error between the virtual control input and actual control output. The stability of the controlled system is proved by using Lyapunov theorem, where the validity and effectiveness of the proposed controllers and estimator are verified by a detailed numerical simulation.

Hardware-in-the-loop simulation (HILS) allows a more realistic evaluation of control approaches than what is possible with pure software simulations, but without the actual complexity of the complete system. This is important for some complex systems such as orbital robots, where testing of the system is typically not possible after its launch, and an on-ground replica is used to validate the performance of such a system. In this article, an impedance-matching approach is presented to match the end-effector dynamics of a fixed-base robot manipulator with that of a target vehicle-manipulator system (VMS), while taking into account the redundant nullspace dynamics in a connected real-time simulation framework. This approach ensures that the forces and torques exerted by the system on the environment matches with that of the simulated system. The contact wrenches used in our approach are not obtained from numerical simulations, but rather from real physical interaction, which is one of the main advantages of our approach. The effectiveness of our method is validated by demonstrating various physical interaction tasks with the environment, using a suspended aerial manipulator as the target system.

As an important part of guard system, intrusion detection systems have great significance to the security of industrial control systems. Cause the industrial control systems of the on-site environment is often very complicated, the process data extracted on-site have a wide variety of features, and they always have complex associations and are not independent. The intrusion detection algorithms for traditional industrial control systems often do not solve this problem, which results in a decrease in the accuracy, precision and high false negative rate (FNR), false positives rate (FPR). Aiming at solving the current problems, this paper proposes an algorithm combining the Fast Independent Principal Component Analysis (FastICA) and Support Vector Machine (SVM). Finally compared with the SVM and PCA-SVM algorithms, the experimental results show that the accuracy rate has been significantly improved and slight FPR. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Neural Dynamic Fault-Tolerant Scheme for Collaborative Motion Planning of Dual-Redundant Robot Manipulators

To avoid the task failure caused by joint breakdown during the collaborative motion planning of dual-redundant robot manipulators, a neural dynamic fault-tolerant (NDFT) scheme is proposed and applied. To do so, a joint fault-tolerant strategy is first designed, and it is formulated as a time-varying equality constraint. Second, combining the robot position and orientation control, joint limit constraint, joint fault-tolerant equality constraint, and considering the repetitive motion optimization criterion, a fault-tolerant framework for the dual-redundant robot manipulators based on quadratic programming (QP) is constructed. Then, a varying-parameter recurrent neural network (VP-RNN) is designed to solve the QP issue. The fault-tolerant framework and the VP-RNN constitute NDFT scheme. With the NDFT scheme, the impact of faulty joints on the whole system can be remedied by healthy joints, thereby the end-effectors of the robot can complete the given end-effector task. Finally, computer simulations and physical experiments are implemented to verify the availability, physical realizability, and accuracy of the proposed NDFT scheme in the collaborative execution of end-effector tasks. Comparative experimental results with conventional repetitive motion planning schemes based on neural networks show higher accuracy and smaller joint angle drift.

Echocardiography is the clinical standard for evaluation of cardiac morphology, and function, and providing hemodynamic parameters in patients with known or suspected heart disease. Due to the diversity and complexity of diagnostic tasks, comprehensive interpretation of echocardiography often requires multi-view imaging for integrated metric analysis. Deep learning methods have become the mainstream approach for echocardiography segmentation. However, achieving segmentation of multi-view echocardiography still requires a substantial amount of annotation. To remedy this, we propose a one-shot in-context learning network mvEchoSeg for multi-view echocardiography segmentation. This network requires only one annotated image for each view. Specifically, we propose a Task Prompt Identifier (TPI) module to identify the task type of the image and allocate the most precise task prompt for it, with minimal adaptation of CLIP and few-shot strategies. Additionally, we leverage a unified In-Context Model (ICM) capable of performing a diverse set of echocardiography segmentation tasks automatically. Using fine-tuning and low-rank adapters improved the performance of the pre-trained model, achieving significant results with minimal training cost. Furthermore, we collect a multi-view echocardiography dataset (MVECD) with 8 views to evaluate our method. The results show an improvement of more than 10% in the DICE score compared to the SOTA foundational medical image segmentation models. To our knowledge, this is the first exploration of a one-shot model for multi-view echocardiography segmentation. Our codes and models are available at https://***/stellating/mvEchoSeg.
