From AI-assisted art creation to large language model (LLM)-powered ChatGPT, AI-generated contents and services are becoming a transforming force. It calls for the telecom industry to embrace the prospects of AIGC services and face the unique challenges posed by incorporating generative model services into the AI-native 6G wireless network paradigm. We propose enabling AIGC inference services on mobile devices by optimizing MEC-device computing offloading, through which AIGC task latency is minimized by reinforcement learning based policy agent in a computing resource constrained and bandwidth limited wireless environment. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance advantage. © 2019 IEEE.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are essential for collecting and transmitting data in modern applications that rely on data, where effective network connectivity and coverage are crucial. The optimal placement of router nodes within WSNs is a fundamental challenge that significantly impacts network performance and reliability. Researchers have explored various approaches using metaheuristic algorithms to address these challenges and optimize WSN performance. This paper introduces a new hybrid algorithm, CFL-PSO, based on combining an enhanced Fick’s Law algorithm with comprehensive learning and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). CFL-PSO exploits the strengths of these techniques to strike a balance between network connectivity and coverage, ultimately enhancing the overall performance of WSNs. We evaluate the performance of CFL-PSO by benchmarking it against nine established algorithms, including the conventional Fick’s law algorithm (FLA), Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), Multi-Verse Optimizer (MVO), Salp Swarm Optimization (SSO), War Strategy Optimization (WSO), Harris Hawk Optimization (HHO), African Vultures Optimization Algorithm (AVOA), Capuchin Search Algorithm (CapSA), Tunicate Swarm Algorithm (TSA), and PSO. The algorithm’s performance is extensively evaluated using 23 benchmark functions to assess its effectiveness in handling various optimization scenarios. Additionally, its performance on WSN router node placement is compared against the other methods, demonstrating its competitiveness in achieving optimal solutions. These analyses reveal that CFL-PSO outperforms the other algorithms in terms of network connectivity, client coverage, and convergence speed. To further validate CFL-PSO’s effectiveness, experimental studies were conducted using different numbers of clients, routers, deployment areas, and transmission ranges. In recent years,cross-modal hash retrieval has become a popular research field because of its advantages of high efficiency and low ***-modal retrieval technology can be applied to search engines,crossmodalmedical processing,*** existing main method is to use amulti-label matching paradigm to finish the retrieval ***,such methods do not use fine-grained information in the multi-modal data,which may lead to suboptimal *** avoid cross-modal matching turning into label matching,this paper proposes an end-to-end fine-grained cross-modal hash retrieval method,which can focus more on the fine-grained semantic information of multi-modal ***,the method refines the image features and no longer uses multiple labels to represent text features but uses BERT for ***,this method uses the inference capabilities of the transformer encoder to generate global fine-grained ***,in order to better judge the effect of the fine-grained model,this paper uses the datasets in the image text matching field instead of the traditional label-matching *** article experiment on Microsoft COCO(MS-COCO)and Flickr30K datasets and compare it with the previous *** experimental results show that this method can obtain more advanced results in the cross-modal hash retrieval field.

Machine Learning Research often involves the use of diverse libraries, modules, and pseudocodes for data processing, cleaning, filtering, pattern recognition, and computer intelligence. Quantization of Effort Required for the above cumulative processes is rarely discussed in the existing works and The time to reach the desired level of the model's functionality is essential to gauge the environment training for the model training and pre-deployment testing. In this study, we empirically defined the manual-cum-computational effort required for the model development in terms of 2-time factors: time-to-live (time until 1st code modification) and time-for-modification (time between 2 codebase changes) taken together in a mathematical model to compute Effort Factor(quantitative measure of determining effort needed to design ML algorithms). The study is novel in terms of how the effort required to create ML models is calculated with a particular focus on the manual effort direction. The results and the findings obtained can be used for determining the total time needed to synthesize ML models and frameworks in terms of code change cycles and implementation strategies marking a 25% performance increase in the current method above the Standard Pipeline. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Semantic2Graph: graph-based multi-modal feature fusion for action segmentation in videos

Video action segmentation have been widely applied in many fields. Most previous studies employed video-based vision models for this purpose. However, they often rely on a large receptive field, LSTM or Transformer methods to capture long-term dependencies within videos, leading to significant computational resource requirements. To address this challenge, graph-based model was proposed. However, previous graph-based models are less accurate. Hence, this study introduces a graph-structured approach named Semantic2Graph, to model long-term dependencies in videos, thereby reducing computational costs and raise the accuracy. We construct a graph structure of video at the frame-level. Temporal edges are utilized to model the temporal relations and action order within videos. Additionally, we have designed positive and negative semantic edges, accompanied by corresponding edge weights, to capture both long-term and short-term semantic relationships in video actions. Node attributes encompass a rich set of multi-modal features extracted from video content, graph structures, and label text, encompassing visual, structural, and semantic cues. To synthesize this multi-modal information effectively, we employ a graph neural network (GNN) model to fuse multi-modal features for node action label classification. Experimental results demonstrate that Semantic2Graph outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of performance, particularly on benchmark datasets such as GTEA and 50Salads. Multiple ablation experiments further validate the effectiveness of semantic features in enhancing model performance. Notably, the inclusion of semantic edges in Semantic2Graph allows for the cost-effective capture of long-term dependencies, affirming its utility in addressing the challenges posed by computational resource constraints in video-based vision models. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

software defect prediction is the methodical process of identifying code segments that are likely to have problems. This is done by analyzing software metrics and using categorization algorithms. This work introduces an alternate approach that utilizes ensemble learning techniques to improve the effectiveness of fault detection models. The models utilized in this study are CodeGPT and CodeBERT, both of which are transformer-based deep learning models that can extract code features from source code. The models are trained using the PROMISE dataset, which consists of Java projects that have been labeled with defects. The test results show that using ensemble learning methods can improve the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score of a single model by around 1-3%. This study contributes to the progress of software dependability and quality by utilizing advanced software fault prediction algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

Interest in supporting Federated Learning (FL) using blockchains has grown significantly in recent years. However, restricting access to the trained models only to actively participating nodes remains a challenge even today. To address this concern, we propose a methodology that incentivizes model parameter sharing in an FL setup under Local Differential Privacy (LDP). The nodes that share less obfuscated data under LDP are awarded higher quantum of tokens, which they can later use to obtain session keys for accessing encrypted model parameters updated by the server. If one or more of the nodes do not contribute to the learning process by sharing their data, or share only highly perturbed data, they earn less number of tokens. As a result, such nodes may not be able to read the new global model parameters if required. Local parameter sharing and updating of global parameters are done using the distributed ledger of a permissioned blockchain, namely HyperLedger Fabric (HLF). Being a blockchain-based approach, the risk of a single point of failure is also mitigated. Appropriate chaincodes, which are smart contracts in the HLF framework, have been developed for implementing the proposed methodology. Results of an extensive set of experiments firmly establish the feasibility of our approach. © 2024 IEEE.

DFU_XAI: A Deep Learning-Based Approach to Diabetic Foot Ulcer Detection Using Feature Explainability

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a potentially fatal complication of diabetes. Traditional techniques of DFU analysis and therapy are more time-consuming and costly. Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly deep neural networks, has demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in medical applications. Despite this, the lack of explainability of deep learning models is currently viewed as a key hurdle to using these approaches in actual clinical settings. In this research, we present the DFU_XAI framework for assessing the interpretability of explainable-driven deep learning (DL) models. DFU_XAI evaluates five DL models (Xception, DenseNet121, ResNet50, InceptionV3, and MobileNetV2) to establish a transparent DL framework using three state-of-the-art explanation methods: Shapley additive explanation (SHAP), local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME), and gradient-weighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM). ResNet50 outperformed the other four models with remarkable results: 98.75% accuracy, 99.2% precision, 97.6% recall, 98.4% F1-score, and 98.5% AUC. For the most part, it can locate diabetic foot ulcers precisely on a diabetic foot and discriminate between diabetic foot ulcers and healthy feet in the DFU dataset. A heat map will indicate the precise location of the ulcer that needs care. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC 2024.

A Novel Lightweight IoT Intrusion Detection Model Based on Self-knowledge Distillation

The Internet of Things (IoT) environment contains many different types of devices, each with different functionalities, communication protocols, and security capabilities, which makes the IoT a complex challenge for security protection. Therefore, network intrusion detection (NID) is needed to detect intrusions in the network to secure the IoT. In recent years, deep learning-based intrusion detection systems have achieved excellent results, but they tend to require high computational resources and storage space, which is not feasible for most IoT devices. In this paper, we propose a lightweight intrusion detection model based on self-knowledge distillation, namely TBCLNN, which improves the detection accuracy while also reducing the number of model parameters and computational cost. Specifically, we use the binary Harris Hawk optimization algorithm for dimensionality reduction of traffic features. We use lightweight convolution, such as Tied Block Convolution (TBC), to design lightweight neural network models with residual and inverse residual structures. Moreover, we propose an improved self-knowledge distillation loss function to solve the sample imbalance problem and compensate for the performance degradation caused by lightweight neural networks. The multiclassification accuracy of our proposed method exceeds 99% on all three publicly available IoT datasets. The experimental results show that our method has a small model size and requires only low computational resources, making it suitable for resource-constrained IoT intrusion detection. © 2014 IEEE.
