Neural Architecture Search (NAS) aims to automatically find effective architectures within a predefined search space. However, the search space is often extremely large. As a result, directly searching in such a large search space is non-trivial and also very time-consuming. To address the above issues, in each search step, we seek to limit the search space to a small but effective subspace to boost both the search performance and search efficiency. To this end, we propose a novel Neural Architecture Search method via Dominative Subspace Mining (DSM-NAS) that finds promising architectures in automatically mined subspaces. Specifically, we first perform a global search, i.e., dominative subspace mining, to find a good subspace from a set of candidates. Then, we perform a local search within the mined subspace to find effective architectures. More critically, we further boost search performance by taking well-designed/searched architectures to initialize candidate subspaces. Experimental results demonstrate that DSM-NAS not only reduces the search cost but also discovers better architectures than state-of-the-art methods in various benchmark search spaces. This one-day hybrid workshop builds on previous feminist CSCW workshops to explore feminist theoretical and methodological approaches that have provided us with useful tools to see things differently and make space for change. Since its inception over a decade ago, feminist HCI has progressed from the margins to mainstream HCI, with numerous references in the literature. Feminist HCI has also evolved to incorporate other critical HCI practices such as Queer HCI, participatory design, and speculative design. While feminist approaches have grown in popularity and become mainstream, it is getting more difficult to distinguish the feminist emancipatory core from other attempts of developing and improving society in various ways. In this workshop, we therefore want to revisit our feminist roots, where theory is a liberatory and creative practice, motivated by affect, curiosity, and wonder. From this standpoint, we consider which of our feminist tools can make a significant difference today, in a highly datafied world. The goal of this workshop is to;1) create an inventory of feminist theories and concepts that have had an impact on our work as designers, educators, researchers, and activists;2) develop a feminist toolbox for the CSCW community to strengthen our feminist literacy. © 2023 Owner/Author.

With the increasing demand for embedded intelligence in many diverse areas of application, manufacturers are working on designing and developing Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) that meet the rapidly growing demand of the market. CPS require tight integration between virtual and physical artifacts. Architectural evaluation is one way to overcome the complexity of this integration, yet it is a challenging task. One possible approach to help systems engineers and software architects evaluate their design before implementing it is simulation. Simulation can reduce expensive prototypes by testing the system under certain conditions that would be too risky and too costly to consider in a prototype. Nevertheless, existing commercial and academic simulation platforms are often domain-specific, require a certain amount of manual effort, and do not support straightforward coupling of different software components. This paper presents a SaaS-based (software-as-a-Service) simulation platform that aims to solve these challenges. It enables easy abstraction of software components, composition of complex architectural scenarios, and the evaluation of architecture design by means of simulation. The proposed platform is a web-based, graphical architectural simulation infrastructure. In this paper, we present the platform along with a simulation example based on a security aspect of a vehicle system to illustrate the platform's capabilities.

Internet of Things (IoT) devices are crucial components in e-healthcare networks. It enables remote patient health monitoring and facilitates seamless communication among medical sensors, wearable devices, and healthcare providers through public communication channels. Despite these advantages, the use of public communication among medical sensors in e-healthcare networks introduces critical challenges, such as vulnerability to impersonation, physical capture, and ephemeral secret leakage, particularly in resource-constrained environments. In recent years, various access control protocols have been developed to mitigate these risks. However, these protocols often fail to ensure robust security while incurring significant communication and computation overhead. To overcome these limitations, we propose a lightweight and robust access control protocol for IoT-based e-healthcare networks using chaotic maps. We propose a novel protocol that integrates a PUF-based mechanism to mitigate the challenges of physical tampering and cloning attacks in e-healthcare networks. It leverages the inherent uniqueness of PUF and enhances security through the high-entropy properties of chaotic maps. We analyze the proposed protocol informally, which confirms that it significantly bolsters efficiency and security. We also validate the security using the Random or Real (RoR) model. Moreover, we verify the security of the proposed protocol using Scyther. These analyses highlight that the proposed protocol offers robust resistance to numerous attacks, such as impersonation, physical capture, and ephemeral secret leakage. Moreover, we also compare it with existing and relevant protocols. The comparative analysis showcases its superior performance. Notably, the proposed authentication protocol significantly reduces 46.84% computational overhead and decreases 31.30% communication overhead, underscoring its enhanced performance and resource efficiency. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Image analysis technology is used to solve the inadvertences of artificial traditional methods in disease, wastewater treatment, environmental change monitoring analysis and convolutional neural networks (CNN) play an important role in microscopic image analysis. An important step in detection, tracking, monitoring, feature extraction, modeling and analysis is image segmentation, in which U-Net has increasingly applied in microscopic image segmentation. This paper comprehensively reviews the development history of U-Net, and analyzes various research results of various segmentation methods since the emergence of U-Net and conducts a comprehensive review of related papers. First, This paper has summarizes the improved methods of U-Net and then listed the existing significances of image segmentation techniques and their improvements that has introduced over the years. Finally, focusing on the different improvement strategies of U-Net in different papers, the related work of each application target is reviewed according to detailed technical categories to facilitate future research. Researchers can clearly see the dynamics of transmission of technological development and keep up with future trends in this interdisciplinary field. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. The smart grid paradigm brings about a significant transformation in conventional power grid networks through the seamless integration of cutting-edge computer, communication, and sensing technologies. This integration promotes optimal bidirectional power circulation, cultivating a digitally interconnected power grid that offers a multitude of advantages. The aforementioned benefits encompass improved inter-system communication, granularized control capabilities, bidirectional energy transmission, and the capacity to efficiently adapt to demand fluctuations. Notwithstanding its capacity for revolutionization, the smart grid presents a pivotal apprehension: cybersecurity. It is of the utmost importance to prioritize information security; however, the implementation of smart grid technology presents novel susceptibilities, specifically with regard to cyber threats. This article delves into the dynamic and changing environment of cybersecurity risks as they pertain to smart grid technology. Beginning with established methods of securing conventional power infrastructures, this section lays the groundwork for comprehending the ever-changing cybersecurity challenges of the future. Following this, an analysis is conducted on the progressively intricate cyber threats that the smart grid encounters. The article delineates a multitude of prevalent cyberattack vectors and suggests preventative measures to alleviate the associated hazards. By conducting an extensive investigation, this study seeks to illuminate the critical significance of cybersecurity in safeguarding the dependability and robustness of the smart grid infrastructure.

Despite best efforts, various challenges remain in the creation and maintenance processes of digital twins (DTs). One of those primary challenges is the constant, continuous and omnipresent evolution of systems, their user’s needs and their environment, demanding the adaptation of the developed DT systems. DTs are developed for a specific purpose, which generally entails the monitoring, analysis, simulation or optimization of a specific aspect of an actual system, referred to as the actual twin (AT). As such, when the twin system changes, that is either the AT itself changes, or the scope/purpose of a DT is modified, the DTs usually evolve in close synchronicity with the AT. As DTs are software systems, the best practices or methodologies for software evolution can be leveraged. This paper tackles the challenge of maintaining a (set of) DT(s) throughout the evolution of the user’s requirements and priorities and tries to understand how this evolution takes place. In doing so, we provide two contributions: (i) we develop DarTwin, a visual notation form that enables reasoning on a twin system, its purposes, properties and implementation, and (ii) we introduce a set of architectural transformations that describe the evolution of DT systems. The development of these transformations is driven and illustrated by the evolution and transformations of a family home’s DT, whose purpose is expanded, changed and re-prioritized throughout its ongoing lifecycle. Improving Sharpness-Aware Minimization with Fisher Mask for Better Generalization on Language Models

Fine-tuning large pretrained language models on a limited training corpus usually suffers from poor generalization. Prior works show that the recently-proposed sharpness-aware minimization (SAM) optimization method can improve the model generalization. However, SAM adds a perturbation to each model parameter equally (but not all parameters contribute equally to the optimization of training), which we argue is sub-optimal and will lead to excessive computation. In this paper, we propose a novel optimization procedure, namely FSAM1, which introduces a Fisher mask to improve the efficiency and performance of SAM. In short, instead of adding perturbation to all parameters, FSAM uses the Fisher information to identity the important parameters and formulates a Fisher mask to obtain the sparse perturbation, i.e., making the optimizer focus on these important parameters. Experiments on various tasks in GLUE and SuperGLUE benchmarks show that FSAM consistently outperforms the vanilla SAM by 0.67∼1.98 average score among four different pretrained models. We also empirically show that FSAM works well in other complex scenarios, e.g., fine-tuning on generation tasks or limited training data. Encouragingly, when training data is limited, FSAM improves the SAM by a large margin, i.e., up to 15.1. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
