The subject of this paper is an options modeling system, which aims to provide the most accurate profit forecast possible for options portfolios in a comprehensible form, as software on the market will misrepresent this in the absence of accurate implied volatility data, which can put trading success at risk. The software determines future implied volatility from 1-year historical options on VXX stock with 6 samples per trading day using statistics and a deep neural network (Long short-term memory LSTM). Using this statistical approach and the trained volatility model, the system calculates the profit/loss curve, thus providing a more accurate picture of the possible future outcomes of a given portfolio. © 2023 IEEE.

Explicit relationships included in textual description of patterns are insufficient to establish pattern sequences. This article brings a new method of establishing pattern sequences using artificial neural networks. The method is based on extracting implicit relationships between organizational patterns using the softmax regression model by Zhang et al., which are learned by the artificial neural network and encoded in its weights. The implementation of the method is based on the mini-batch stochastic gradient descent method by Zhang et al. and the Keras application programming interface of the TensorFlow framework. To evaluate the method, we conducted four experiments on selected organizational patterns documented by Coplien and Harrison. Two pattern sequences were established in each experiment. For each pattern sequence, a pattern story was created in order to check its meaningfulness. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

This article deals with select mechanisms that are provided by the object-oriented programming language Java. Using these mechanisms is crucial for a proper approach to object-oriented programming. However, this is often difficult for many programmers that are new to writing code in the said language. This paper looks at these mechanisms, defines them by quoting various sources, and proposes a solution that spots these described mechanisms in code. It does so by reading source code from .java files inputted by its user, gathering information about the defined and used classes, interfaces, methods, etc. With this information gained it outputs data which would often require a larger context of the code and good knowledge of the files’ contents. Thanks to the strict definitions and rules, that will be stated later in this paper, the application can consistently spot these mechanisms in code and inform its user about the fact. As a result, the application can help programmers that are new to object-oriented programming languages by ensuring them, that they implemented these mechanisms correctly, or by informing them about their absence. The core mechanisms described in this paper are inheritance, encapsulation, class association, and polymorphism. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

The tourism sector is currently witnessing a significant transformation driven by technological automation. As this evolution unfolds, it is crucial to harness intelligent technologies not only to enhance the industry but also to simplify the experience for tourists themselves. One aspect of simplification that would greatly benefit every tourist exploring a new city is a tool capable of suggesting an optimal sequence for visiting the city's best attractions. This tool would take into account the personal preferences of the tourist as well as the spatial context of the city. In this research, we present findings that are pertinent to the development of such a tool and propose an initial approach to provide these functionalities. Our proposed solution involves applying a relevant variant of the Vehicle Routing Problem with Pickup and Delivery (VRPP) or the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP) algorithm. By leveraging user-supplied preferences and extracting relevant information from external factors, we aim to assist users in planning their optimal viewing experiences. To realize this solution, we envision creating a modern web application utilizing cutting-edge technologies. The primary focus of this application would be to generate optimal tourist routes on a per-city basis. This means that the tool would prioritize suggesting viewing sequences for tourist attractions within the city where the user is staying or traveling through, as well as attractions in close proximity to the city. Our research aims to contribute to the ongoing wave of technological automation in the tourism sector by developing a tool that simplifies the planning process for tourists. By leveraging advanced algorithms and a modern web application, we strive to provide an optimal viewing sequence of attractions based on individual preferences and the spatial context of the city. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

The evolution of product families is complex due to the exponential growth of new products with a modified codebase. It is caused by the introduction of new such important or restrictive features that allow transforming an existing solution into a new product as the basis for another one. Specifically, both the structure of resulting components and semantic information need to be taken into account to provide in-depth supporting materials by capturing feature interactions and their capabilities. Additionally, data from heterogeneous applications usually differ and their handling needs account for different scoring. We tackled these problems by creating various supporting views based on structural and semantic information. Related applications are modeled as graphs, also instances of their components are optionally included, and various matrix based algorithms based on similarity metrics are integrated. The final integrated and automated approach is efficient because it runs in polynomial time, is extensively focused on dependencies/connections between nodes, can be adapted to big data, and is extendable and enhanced to support different metrics. Its capability to organize analyzed parts into hierarchies by applying hierarchic clustering helps to specify the context to support comprehension or find a related position of features based on their interaction, especially their coupling. With regards to possible design issues, each updated product should be checked by an expert or more autonomously against performed predictions, especially its complexity and coupling between components. Additionally, extendability can be measured from the chosen sequence of such updates. An approach including an automated matrix based feature recognition process is presented in the analysis of modular Angular applications. During a software development process, a customer and the development team need to communicate and understand each other. Poor communication between a customer and the development team is one of the most common challenges in the software development process, which leads to software failures and further increases the budget. In our practical experience and from the literature, we found that lack of customer involvement, no common communication language, complex business processes, end-user resistance toward system development, lack of trust, lack of leadership, and and end-user capacity are the main challenges toward the development team understanding. We bring six newly discovered patterns that address these problems and improve the understanding between a customer and the development team during the software development process. We also bring some of the known organizational patterns that also mitigate these problems into relation to the newly discovered patterns. To create a pattern language from these patterns, we illustrated the sequences of the patterns so that the development team and customer could understand each other. © 2022 ACM.

software development demand and identification of end users involvement have been increasing rapidly, but identifying the real end user and involving them in software development is challenging for software developers reported in the literature. One of the problems is the difficulty of designing the business domain. It takes longer to find the actual business domain when different and inexpert domain end users are engaged with developers. Another problem is the difficulty of incorporating all types of end users needs in software development. Several expectations and different information make the development process more complex and overload the project scope. software development also takes more time, and the project goal is challenging. The above problems are the leading causes that create a complex process and difficulty in software development. To overcome these problems, we established a pattern language composed of eight organizational patterns observed and documented during in practical work on many projects. These patterns and other known organizational patterns relation are described in a patterns story of a real company. © 2022 ACM.

With the development of new technology, the urban infrastructure, which is necessary to meet the social, economic, and physical needs of the population, is also gradually improving. Therefore, cities face significant urban planning challenges. With the increasing population and number of cars on the road parking space occupancy detection techniques are of great importance for efficient parking space management. Knowing the availability of parking spaces within a city in real-time and informing residents can be of great help in reducing the number of car park councils, reducing traffic congestion in cities, or improving the scalability of car parks and the time needed to find empty parking space. In many car parks, ground sensors are used to determine occupancy status. However, this requires the installation and maintenance of these sensors in every parking space. This can be expensive, especially in car parks with a large number of available spaces. With increasing computing power, new approaches to parking space occupancy detection using computer vision are emerging. However, these approaches are tailored to the site of application. In this work, we propose a comparison of two general approaches: classification and object detection. The reliability, precision, and scalability of these approaches are compared using a REST-API server application implemented in Python. In order to get as close as possible to general use, we use docker, which enables us easier develop and deploy this application independently of the hardware. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Organizational patterns of agile software development are proven practices for dealing organizational principles. Finding and selecting the right pattern is difficult. One way to select a pattern is to follow the sequence and compositions given in a pattern language. However, in general, pattern languages do not always reveal every reliable connection. Patterns are described in informal and unstructured text, making it difficult to understand their connections. This work attempts to provide a conceptual ontology model for organizational patterns-describing the collection of concepts (terms) and their relations. This contribution can be an attempt to express, expose, and share semantic knowledge between patterns using ontology. The resulting ontology can be used on top of the organizational patterns repositories to help retrieve patterns based on their logical connections. © 2022 ACM.

Money Recognition for the Visually Impaired: A Case Study on Sri Lankan Banknotes

Currency note recognition is a critical accessibility need for blind individuals, as identifying banknotes accurately can impact their independence and security in financial transactions. Several traditional and technological initiatives have been taken to date. Nevertheless, these approaches are less user-friendly and have made it more challenging for blind people to identify banknotes. This research proposes a user-friendly stand-alone system for the identification of Sri Lankan currency notes. A custom-created dataset of images of Sri Lankan currency notes was used to fine-tune an EfficientDet model. The currency note recognition model achieved 0.9847 AP on the validation dataset and performs exceptionally well in real-world scenarios. The high accuracy and the intuitive interface have enabled blind individuals to quickly and accurately identify currency denominations, ultimately encouraging accessibility and independence. © 2025, CC BY.
