software development demand and identification of end users involvement have been increasing rapidly, but identifying the real end user and involving them in software development is challenging for software developers reported in the literature. One of the problems is the difficulty of designing the business domain. It takes longer to find the actual business domain when different and inexpert domain end users are engaged with developers. Another problem is the difficulty of incorporating all types of end users needs in software development. Several expectations and different information make the development process more complex and overload the project scope. software development also takes more time, and the project goal is challenging. The above problems are the leading causes that create a complex process and difficulty in software development. To overcome these problems, we established a pattern language composed of eight organizational patterns observed and documented during in practical work on many projects. These patterns and other known organizational patterns relation are described in a patterns story of a real company.

There are various ways of how reality is recreated in games. These patterns recur in within a single game and throughout many games. There are contradictory forces that lead to a solution that can be reused. Clearly, these ways of recreating reality in games exhibit the properties of patterns in the Alexandrian sense, that heavily influenced the area of software development. Identifying the patterns of recreating reality in games is important in order to develop entertaining and interesting games that people will enjoy playing. Implementing them can greatly improve the quality of games. Furthermore, the patterns are flexible, thus they can be used in many creative ways. For games to be enjoyable and plausible, the reality within them needs to be recreated. Good practices in achieving this can be captured as patterns in the Alexandrian sense. This paper brings in the idea of patterns of recreating reality in games, the connections between them, how they are implemented, and how to apply them. Five patterns mined in Minecraft and other successful games are presented---The Presence of an Enjoyable Challenge, Preservation of Progress, Flexibility of the Laws of Nature, Expansion of Inventory Limits, and Fast Travel---along with the relationships between them and examples of where they can be found. A story describing gameplay of Minecraft from a player's perspective has been used to show exact examples of these patterns.

Autonomous Systems (AS) enable systems to adapt to drastic and unprecedented environmental changes, a capability that can be enhanced through the utilization of Digital Twins (DTs). However, the additional capabilities of AS come at the cost of explainability, as the expanding adaptation space complicates the reasoning about the system's behavior. For certain types of systems, it is crucial to ensure that specific properties are upheld despite the system's autonomous behavior. To facilitate the monitoring of these properties, we propose the use of Runtime Verification (RV). This tutorial demonstrates the integration of RV tools into the Digital Twins as a Service (DTaaS) platform to monitor and verify the behavior of AS in real-time. By exploring various methods to incorporate RV tools within a DT context, the tutorial aims to advance the application of RV technologies in autonomic computing and self-adaptive system design. Specifically, we demonstrate how the behavior of a self-configuring DT can be verified utilizing RV. This is accomplished through the DTaaS platform, which supports seamless deployment of DT-based AS. © 2024 IEEE.

In this study, we proposed and implemented a combined recommendation system by utilizing both learning log data, which contributes to improving learning performance, and learning style questionnaire, which contributes to increasing learning motivation. We also conducted an empirical experiment to evaluate the effect of the proposed recommendation system on learning performance, read efficiency, and perception of the proposed system. Students learned the same teaching material from the Commercial Law course. They were divided into three groups and received a page recommendation of the teaching material: recommended by only VARK data, recommended by only learning log, and recommended by both of V ARK data and learning log data. The findings show that the students who received the combined recommendation increased their mean values of learning performance and reading efficiency in the experiment and reported the highest improvement in usefulness and satisfaction on the system. On the other hand, the students who received the log data-only recommendation didn't increase their mean values of learning performance and reading efficiency and reported the lowest improvement of usefulness and satisfaction on the system. The students' post-questionnaires on their learning motivation and suggestions for learning recommendation system are also discussed. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, wireless sensor networks (WSN) have received considerable attention in environmental, industrial monitoring, and control applications. It is used to monitor, collect, maintain, and analyse environmental data from a remote place with the help of remote sensing and monitoring technologies. Identification of suitable algorithms and protocol WSNs for water quality monitoring is a challenge due to the limitation of energy, computation capability, and storage resources of the sensor nodes. In this paper, we designed a model for a WSN-based water quality monitoring system that employs a machine learning technique to analyse water data and facilitates decision-making. The suggested model can gather water quality parameters from a water body and send them to a distant data centre, where they will be processed using a machine learning (ML) algorithm. The experiment shown that by adopting WSN and ML approach, we can obtain state-of-the-art 0.0723 RMSE and 0.0052 MAE, indicating that the proposed methodology is appropriate for usage in intelligence water quality monitoring. © 2023 Owner/Author.

As the primary pollutant in China's urban atmosphere, particulate matter (PM)2.5 poses a great threat to the health of residents and ecological stability. An efficient and effective PM2.5 concentration monitoring is essential. Nonetheless, the popular devices for PM2.5 monitoring are developed based on two standards: the microoscillation balance method and the β-ray method, which have high purchase and maintenance costs and slow calculation rates. To this end, we put forward a real-time and reliable vision-based estimation algorithm of PM2.5 concentration. To be specific, the proposed method first develops two natural scene statistical analysis-based visual priors to measure saturation and structural information losses caused by the 'haze' formed by PM2.5. Moreover, we develop a lightweight deep belief network-deep neural network-based PM2.5 concentration estimation model, which learns the mapping from the designed visual priors to PM2.5 concentrations. Experiments confirm the superiority of our vision-based PM2.5 concentration estimation method by comparison with state-of-the-art photo-based PM2.5 monitoring methods. © 2020 IEEE.

The aim of this online-survey study is the development and evaluation of a mobile health application specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals who have previously undergone intensive-care treatment. User acceptance and perception play a crucial role in refining and optimizing the app's features and functionalities. By actively incorporating suggestions and insights from users, the goal is to enhance the overall usability and better cater to the diverse needs of individuals in post-intensive care recovery. This iterative approach ensures that the application remains responsive to the evolving requirements of its target audience. Overall, the emphasis is on creating a user-centric and adaptive tool for former intensive care patients, to develop a user-friendly mobile app. © 2024 The Authors.

Processors for terrestrial applications are protected by Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field, so the probability of single event effects (SEE) is significantly lower. Shrinking of the technology nodes allows higher operational frequency and performance, but their susceptibility to SEE is increasing. Nowadays satellites and safety critical automotive applications require more and more computational power. The hardening by design has been implemented mainly by redundancy of the whole cores. The consequences are lower frequency, larger area, and higher power consumption. We propose a novel hardening technique, which enables high frequency operation and doesn't cause large power consumption and area overhead. The protection is based redundancy and separation of the pipeline into two main sections. It provides a fast detection of faults, simple recovery by flush of the pipeline, and allows a large prediction unit to be unprotected. The whole protection scheme can be implemented at the Register Transfer Level. We present the protection scheme at the core with RISC-V instruction set. Simulations confirm the protection can handle the injected faults. Synthesis shows, the protection lowers the maximum frequency by only about 4.7%. The area increase is only about 118% and can be even lower.

In this paper, we propose a novel hardening technique against Single Event Effects, which enables high-frequency operation and does not cause large power consumption and area overhead. The protection is based on redundancy, separation of the pipeline into two main sections, and is fully applicable at Register Transfer Level. It provides fast detection of faults, simple recovery by a flush of the pipeline, and allows a large prediction unit to be unprotected. We present the protection scheme at the core with the RISC-V instruction set. Simulations confirm that the protection can handle the injected faults. Synthesis shows that protection lowers the maximum frequency by only 3.9%. The area increase is only 108% and can be even lower. Total power consumption increased by 119%.

As the web grows, finding information from large data repositories has become increasingly difficult not only due to inadequate number of results that are relevant, but also due to poor sorting of relevant results from those irrelevant. The present search engines (SEs) use the query and response lookup process that does not provide precise results. Thus, researchers have gone beyond the paradigm to explore a new class of method to seek information, which is called exploratory research that is open-ended and its faceted search can improve the overall search process. Besides, many studies have begun tapping into enhancement of web search results relevancy. The web reflects vast heterogeneity, varying structure, and massive in volumes. Therefore, it is rather difficult to seek accurate outcomes as desired. As such, visualisation and interactive graphics have been proposed as methods to manage massive amounts of results and to project essential features for the web pages. Additionally, search engine controls reconstruction and reformulation of queries. As such, a search engine is presented in this study by developing it on the cloud computing platform environment The search engine is based on the idea of improving visual exploratory search (VExSearch) while exploring information in the web. This particular notion reflects the process of seeking and combing through the vast information by using the coordinated visualisation method, apart from minimising the effort spent in seeking information per query. The VExSearch was evaluated for its capability and performance and later compared with IMDb SE and CloudMining SE. The comparative results showed that the VExSearch was 66% more accurate than the other SEs. VExSearch also seemed to provide the most relevant results among all the three SEs, aside from attaining an average improvement of 20% in terms of recall. © 2021, IAENG International Journal of Computer Science.
