This paper proposes a model predictive control (MPC) approach for discrete-time jump Markov linear systems (JMLS) considering constraints on the inputs as well as on the expectancy of the states. Prediction equations for the first moment of the states are formulated, in which the dependencies on the inputs, on the expected values of disturbances, and on the current states are directly considered. For the computation of the matrices needed for predicting the first moment of the states, a recursive algorithm is presented. Finally, the prediction equations are used to formulate the MPC problem as a quadratic program (QP). Due to the recursive structure of the prediction equations and the formulation as a QP, the computational effort is low compared to existing approaches. Simulation results demonstrate the properties of the presented MPC approach and its capabilities of controlling large-scale JMLS online.

This paper proposes the impedance matching circuit which keeps input impedance constant by using boost converter and resonant rectifier. In the simulation, the results confirmed characteristic of this circuit and achieved high power factor such as almost 1.0. The proposed circuit is able to reduce total harmonics distortion (THD) by 13%. Experimental result shows that input power factor is almost 1.0. The THD reduces 71.3% compared with simulation result of diode rectifier.

The high altitude platform (HAP) is an important communication platform for cloud storage in the next generation internet. The Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques provide the significant diversity and multiplexing gain, which can improve the network performance effectively. In this paper, a virtual MIMO model is proposed by networking the constellation of interconnected HAPs. In a Rician fading, the diversity reception is investigated. The Probability density function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are derived. In addition, the CDFs of the system capacity and the system capacity with various SNR and Rician factors for different network configurations are analyzed. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the performance analysis.

This paper proposes a novel localization approach based on visual impressions. We define a visual impression as the representation of a HSV color distribution of a place. The representation uses clustering feature (CF) tree to manage the color distribution and we propose to weight each CF entry to indicate its importance. The method compares the navigating tree, which is created by the robot from its observations, with the available reference trees of the environment. In addition, we propose a new similarity measure to compare two CF trees which represent the visual impressions of the corresponding two places. The method is tested on two data sets collected in different environments. The results of the experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

To reduce wastewater overflow and high power cost caused by unreasonably operating pump device in urban drainage system,a pump performance-based energy optimization strategy is proposed.A mathematical model is built based on the typical topological structure of urban drainage systems,and the calculation equations for sewerage inflow,outflow and storage condition of relevant pumping stations are *** energy saving optimization algorithm regard pump efficiency as linear which limits the optimization *** guarantee the energy saving effect,a nonlinear mathematical model of pump performance is *** to the nonlinear relationships among pump flow,head and efficiency,total energy consumption in the next two time-domain is *** consumption of the system can be reduced by optimizing the outflow of relevant pump stations *** with traditional control methods of urban drainage system,the simulation results demonstrate that the proposed optimization algorithm can reduce system energy consumption as well as avoid wastewater overflow efficiently.

Separable Nonlinear Model Predictive control via Sequential Quadratic Programming for Large-scale systems *

In this paper, a sequential quadratic programming method is presented for largescale nonlinear and possibly non-convex model predictive control (MPC) optimization problem which is often set up with a separable objective function. By introducing the so-call consensus constraints to separate the couplings among the subsystems. The resulting QP subproblem is formulated in a separable form, which makes it possible to use the existing alternating direction methods, like ADMM, to efficiently compute Newton steps for the overall system in a distributed way. In order to enforce the convergence rate of the distributed computation, a distributed line search with local merit functions is also proposed.

This paper presents a new approach to dynamic system state estimation under bounded noises via the Evidential Reasoning(ER) *** method regards the dynamic system equations and the actual observations of the system states as two information *** random set description of evidence and the extension principle of random set are used to recursively generate state evidence and observation evidence respectively from the two information sources and to propagate them in system *** each time step,the ER rule is used to fuse the two pieces of evidence in observation domain and then the fused result is transformed to state domain by the extension *** expectation of the fused result is calculated as state estimation *** with the estimation method using interval analysis and evidence theory given by Nassreddine,the proposed approach makes estimation results more accurate by using fusion mechanism of the ER rule considering weight and reliability of *** method is shown to have better performances in an application to liquid level estimation of industrial level apparatus than does the Nassreddine's method.

Air pollution contributes to the premature deaths of millions of people each year around the world, and air quality problems are growing in many developing nations. While past policy efforts have succeeded in reducing particulate matter and trace gases in North America and Europe, adverse health effects are found at even these lower levels of air pollution. Future policy actions will benefit from improved understanding of the interactions and health effects of different chemical species and source categories. Achieving this new understanding requires air pollution scientists and engineers to work increasingly closely with health scientists. In particular, research is needed to better understand the chemical and physical properties of complex air pollutant mixtures, and to use new observations provided by satellites, advanced in situ measurement techniques, and distributed micro monitoring networks, coupled with models, to better characterize air pollution exposure for epidemiological and toxicological research, and to better quantify the effects of specific source sectors and mitigation strategies. © 2016 American Chemical Society.
