Sleep inertia is a transitional state from sleep to wakefulness, accompanied by groggy feelings and cognitive impairment. Previous research on sleep inertia mainly used expensive and cumbersome equipment, and the analysis of physiological signals relied on computers. This work introduces a sleep inertia detection system that consists of a wearable low-power electroencephalogram (EEG) acquisition module based on STM32WB55 and ADS1299, and a data processing module based on the Xilinx ® Zynq ® -7000 XC7Z020. This work recorded the EEG signals of ten subjects in the alert and sleep inertia states to extract the delta power, alpha power, beta power, EEG vigilance, and sample entropy. A linear support vector machine (SVM) was then used to classify the two states based on all subjects’ EEG signals, with an accuracy of 72.5%, and the average accuracy based on a single participant was 8S.9%. Finally, the feature extraction algorithm and SVM parameters were entered into the Zynq ® system-on-chip (SoC) development board to realize onboard processing of the algorithm. The system is capable of evaluating the severity of human sleep inertia, which has reference significance for the practical application of sleep inertia detection.

This report summarizes a focus group on drama patterns we organized at EuroPLoP 2019. Apart from the organizers, the focus group attracted eight participants, who together built a short drama play entitled The Real Red Riding Hood (created by Aleksandra Vranic). The play went through three settings with the final setting involving three drama patterns and one fundamental property (as defined by Alexander): Thoughts Reflecting Environment, Reversed Advantage, Disbelieved Identity, and Echoes. In addition, the participants tried out a name learning game based on the Thoughts Reflecting Environment pattern. The final setting was performed at the conference banquet without any further rehearsals (the focus group took only 75 minutes), followed by numerous informal discussions and reflections on how drama patterns could be beneficial for achieving a better understanding of the concept of a pattern, pattern composition, and pattern language, and for education in general. The focus group once more confirmed the effectiveness and efficiency of drama patterns that has been observed so far. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.

This paper is about the installation of trust in the Semantic Web content of the Digital Reference (DR). The DR was developed in H2020/ECSEL/Productive4.0, which contains ontologies to model production and Cyber Physical systems addressing the whole industrial automation and control area. It should serve as a quasi-standard for digitalization in the domain of semiconductors and corresponding supply chains to overcome the partial incompatibility problem of existing *** Web is a success story in the B2C (Business to consumer) environment as it is understandable for both humans and machines alike. To transfer this success of easy data exchange into the complex industrial B2B (Business to business) environment, a much higher quality is required-a standardization of the classes and properties. The confidence in standards usually comes from human verification, validation and confirmation, which has the disadvantage of being slow. Machine validation could be faster but often lacks confidence. Thus, how can trust be installed to ensure the "correctness"of the used classes and properties in a speedy process?We propose a human and machine blended approach based on peer review and Blockchain technology built on decentralized peer-to-peer networks to solve this problem. The consensus process combines transparency, traceability, immutability and speed of Blockchain with the fidelity of human experts. © 2020 IEEE.

Recently, biometric technology has been extensively embedded in mobile devices to enhance security of mobile devices. With rise of financial technology (FinTech) that employs mobile applications as well as devices as promotional platforms, biometrics has a significant role in strengthening the detection of this privacy application. This manuscript offers the design of salp swarm optimization with auto-encoder based biometric authentication (SSOAE-BMA) model for the recognition of abnormal activities in the Fintech banking applications based on wireless communication. The major aim of the SSOAE-BMA model lies in the proper authentication of persons via biometric matching process. Initially, the presented SSOAE-BMA model makes use of stacked ResNet-50 model for deriving feature vectors. Next, the SSOAE-BMA model utilizes AE for biometric verification and the performance of the AE model is adjusted using the Social Spider Optimization (SSO) Algorithm which in turn enhances the recognition outcomes. To demonstrate the improved performance of SSOAE-BMA model, a series of simulations were carried out. The experimental outcomes signified the enhancements of the SSOAE-BMA model over existing models.

Current object detection methods are mostly based on the Faster R-CNN which is composed of two stages: 1) the region proposal network which roughly sifts anchors and produces object proposals and 2) the detection network which inputs the generated region proposals and makes predictions of category and bounding box for each region. However, the object proposals are always treated individually in the detection network without taking their relationship into consideration. Specifically, most researches utilize the non-maximum suppression algorithm to reduce the number of proposals by subtracting the neighbouring proposals for either training or testing process. Though a single proposal may be not accurate enough, a union of its neighbouring proposals and itself would represent this object region more comprehensively. Since the neighbouring relationship can be expressed by an edge between two proposals (nodes), the set of region proposals can be modelled in a graph structure. In this paper, we propose a novel neighbouring relationship exploration model (NREM) to improve the object detection by aggregating the neighbouring proposal graph (NPG) based on the graph convolutional network (GCN). Owing to the effective exploration of complementary relationship among neighbouring proposals, our method can improve the detection results significantly. Experiments on the PASCAL VOC 2007 dataset demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.

In the Doppler biological radar-based applications of noncontact measurement of vital signs, effectively extracting heartbeat information from weak thoracic mechanical motion is an important problem to be solved. This study is aimed at extracting heartbeat signal via the technology combined with Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT), Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Adaptive Noise Canceller (ANC) from radar recording. The simulated data and the data collected by Doppler radar biosensor realized in laboratory are employed to validate the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method has the ability of detection for the heart rate and heart rate variability indexes in rest state, it has certain advantages in time-consuming and detection accuracy. Therefore, the current method provides another way to process vital sign signals recorded by Doppler radar.

Development of terahertz (THz) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) technologies is mainly bottlenecked by the limited intrinsic response of traditional materials. Hyperbolic phonon polaritons (HPhPs) of van der Waals semiconductors couple strongly with THz and LWIR radiation. However, the mismatch of photon−polariton momentum makes far-field excitation of HPhPs challenging. Here, we propose an In-Plane Hyperbolic Polariton Tuner that is based on patterning van der Waals semiconductors, here α-MoO3, into ribbon arrays. We demonstrate that such tuners respond directly to far-field excitation and give rise to LWIR and THz resonances with high quality factors up to 300, which are strongly dependent on in-plane hyperbolic polariton of the patterned α-MoO3. We further show that with this tuner, intensity regulation of reflected and transmitted electromagnetic waves, as well as their wavelength and polarization selection can be achieved. Fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems have entered the stage of commercial development, providing users with new services and improved user experiences as well as offering a host of novel opportunities to various industries. However, 5G still faces many challenges. To address these challenges, international industrial, academic, and standards organizations have commenced research on sixth generation (6G) wireless communication systems. A series of white papers and survey papers have been published, which aim to define 6G in terms of requirements, application scenarios, key technologies, etc. Although ITU-R has been working on the 6G vision and it is expected to reach a consensus on what 6G will be by mid-2023, the related global discussions are still wide open and the existing literature has identified numerous open issues. This paper first provides a comprehensive portrayal of the 6G vision, technical requirements, and application scenarios, covering the current common understanding of 6G. Then, a critical appraisal of the 6G network architecture and key technologies is presented. Furthermore, existing testbeds and advanced 6G verification platforms are detailed for the first time. In addition, future research directions and open challenges are identified for stimulating the on-going global debate. Finally, lessons learned to date concerning 6G networks are discussed. © 2023, CC BY.

Aspect-oriented programming makes possible to express changes in a modular way directly at the level of programming language constructs. This is particularly useful in situations that require explicit change manipulation, such as change reapplication to another version branch in application customization. However, it may be tricky to employ appropriate aspect-oriented constructs in a correct way that accommodates well the change to be implemented. This has been successfully addressed by an approach to aspect-oriented change realization based on a two-level change type model, which features a catalog of specification and implementation change types and their relationships, primarily targeting the web application domain. In this paper, we explore the applicability of the change types gathered in this catalog for the mobile application domain. For this, we performed a study that involved a set of hypothetical scenarios and two real mobile applications for Android. The study revealed that the change types known from the web application domain are in their essence applicable to the mobile application domain. It also lead to the discovery of four new specification change types in the mobile application domain and the corresponding specification-implementation change type relationships along with further relationships between known change types. © 2018 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
