A mathematical model was developed for studying the carbonyl compounds synthesis and reduction in beer fermentation with alginate-chitosan microcapsules with liquid core. The model was based on the results for the influence of the fermentation temperature, original wort gravity and immobilized cells mass on the carbonyl compounds synthesis and reduction. The obtained model described with high accuracy the vicinal diketones synthesis and reduction and confirmed the experimental data. However, the model was not in agreement with the data for aldehydes synthesis and reduction. It did not take into account the second peak in aldehyde concentration during maturation. It can be assumed that the peak was related to maltotriose uptake by the used yeast strain. Nevertheless, the obtained model can be used for the description of carbonyl compounds synthesis and reduction in beer fermentation with immobilized cells. Bridges are the hubs of transportation, so it is important to identify and locate bridges for satellite image interpretation. This paper proposes a new method of bridge extraction from high resolution remote sensing images. Firstly, river regions are segmented and road lineaments are extracted. Then, bridge region is represented as intersection of river with roads or roads with roads by using the recognition model proposed in this paper. Finally, a rule-based procedure is applied to verify candidate regions. The experiment results show that, not only bridges over river but also the overpasses can be extracted effectively. The method mainly uses structural information of lineaments on roads and the topological relations in bridge regions, and does not rely on accurate results of river segmentation, so it is robust for complex scenes.

The security of the authentication scheme plays a more and more important role in today's web service systems as people's daily are increasingly depending on these services and user credentials are collected and stored online. An insecure authentication system will become a great threat for users' privacy. Beside security, usability is also very important for the design of an authentication system. Traditional password-based authentication solutions are often susceptible to various attacks due to the weak passwords chosen by incautious users. This paper illustrates a secure yet simple implementation, which uses digital signature algorithm to authenticate user identities. The proposed design brings usability and convenience to the authentication scheme by taking advantage of the increasingly widespread mobile devices. Full comparisons with existing systems in terms of their security, usability and deploy ability will also be presented in this paper.

With the progress of DNA computing, DNA-based cryptography becomes an emerging interdisciplinary research field. In this paper, we present a novel DNA cryptography that takes advantage of DNA self-assembled structure. Making use of the toehold strands recognition and strand displacement, the bit-wise exclusive-or (XOR) operation is carried out to fulfill the information encryption and decryption in the form of a one-time-pad. The security of this system mainly comes from the physical isolation and specificity of DNA molecules. The system is constructed by using complex DNA self-assembly, in which technique of fluorescent detection is utilized to implement the signal processing. In the proposed DNA cryptography, the XOR operation at each bit is carried out individually, thus the encryption and decryption process could be conducted in a massive, parallel way. This work may demonstrate that DNA cryptography has the great potential applications in the field of information security.

The derivation of habitat maps is enhanced if land cover maps are used as basis for the mapping procedure. In this study, a supervised learning framework is proposed to perform object-based classification to General Habitat Categories. A Land Cover Classification system map is used as basis, and an approach to generate numerical features from the object land cover class names and attributes is introduced. An additional number of spectral, morphological, and topological features are extracted from very high resolution satellite imagery and classification accuracies up to 80.4% for 14 classes are reached. Inclusion of LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) data or proposed texture analysis features, improve accuracies to 86% and around 83%, respectively, with the latter proving as promising surrogates of LiDAR data features. The method outperformed rule-based approaches, indicating its potential in accurate and labor- and time-efficient habitat classification.

With the acceleration of urbanization, the demand of high quality public services has been increasing. In the past fifteen years, each department of Chinese government has established its own information service system to provide public services to people. However, these systems are isolated from each other and the services they have provided are not well organized. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a novel platform for the service management and application development in smart cities. Based on this platform, different people can collaborate and make their contributions, such as requirement acquisition and service development. First, we gather all information and services from existing system to the platform. Second, the platform can publish application or service development requirements based on the crowdsourcing paradigm. Third, small-to-medium service vendors and developers could undertake these development tasks and make use of services provided by our open platform to develop innovative applications. Finally, it provides human-centered services to citizens in appropriate channels when necessary. In this paper, we present the architecture design of the platform and key technologies to implement it. Besides, two practice cases in smart cities of China are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the platform.

A secure self-destruction scheme with IBE for the internet content privacy

With the rapid emerging of novelty Web services and cloud services, privacy information and documents of users become increasingly easy to be exposed in the Internet. To tackle the issue of lifecycle security of the privacy information and documents in the Internet, in this paper, we propose the idea of combining the three security methods of multilevel security, identity-based encryption (IBE), and distributed hash table (DHT) network. And we further propose an IBE-based secure self-destruction (ISS) scheme to protect the confidentiality and privacy of the Internet content by self-destruction after a predefined time. In our proposed ISS security scheme, the Internet content is first partitioned into many segments with diverse security levels, and each segment is encrypted with a symmetric key to obtain primitive ciphertext. By applying the methods of association and extraction, the primitive ciphertext is turned to associated ciphertext, which is then divided into extracted ciphertext and encapsulated ciphertext. The latter is encapsulated into the Internet content self-destructing object (CDO), which is stored into the storage services provider. Furthermore, to protect the privacy security when the CDO expired, the symmetric key is encrypted using the IBE algorithm based on the identity of the authorized user. The combination of this key's ciphertext and the extracted ciphertext, by means of Lagrange polynomial processing, generates mixture ciphertext shares. Then those shares are distributed into nodes within the DHT network and will be automatically discarded over the deadline when the primitive ciphertext and the symmtric key are unrecoverable. Consequently, the ISS scheme achieves the aim of secure self-destruction. Comprehensive analysis shows that the ISS scheme is able to satisfy all the design demands and is more secure than existing schemes. To solve problems of automatic parking during the autonomous driving, a rapid optimization algorithm regarding parking has been proposed in this paper. The biggest challenge comes from the non-holonomic characteristics of automobiles and short-distance obstacles. The algorithm in question solves the obstacles avoidance by using Minkowski sum. Geometric path planning is derived from kinematics and connected with path parameters of Runge-Kutta discretization method. Since parking paths and relevant parameters can be obtained by virtue of Runge-Kutta discretization method, the optimization method for every discrete path is to calculate parking paths that are independent from parking lots. The static optimization method can be resolved by digitization in an effective way. Effects of the above mentioned algorithm will be evaluated by different stimulation scenarios. The stimulation experiments show that path planning algorithm regarding rapid parking based on static optimization is feasible for the following three parking scenarios-parallel parking, vertical parking and angle parking. All these three parking forms can be achieved on the premise of no modification in algorithm. Path planning can be completed within several milliseconds even in a narrow space.

If a natural disaster like an earthquake or an accident in a chemical or nuclear plant hits a populated area, rescue teams have to get a quick overview of the situation in order to identify possible locations of victims, which need to be rescued, and dangerous locations, which need to be secured. Rescue forces must operate quickly in order to save lives, and they often need to operate in dangerous environments. Hence, robot-supported systems are increasingly used to support and accelerate search operations. The objective of the SENEKA concept is the situation responsive networking of various robots and sensor systems used by first responders in order to make the search for victims and survivors more quick and efficient. SENEKA targets the integration of the robot-sensor network into the operation procedures of the rescue teams. The aim of this paper is to inform on the objectives and first research results of the ongoing joint research project SENEKA.
