It is essential to extract concepts hierarchy by hierarchy in conceptual ontology. In this paper, a method is proposed to extract hierarchical concept from database with cloud transform. By approaching the original data distribution, cloud transform makes the quantitative data changed into a series of qualitative concepts portrayed by atomic clouds on the bottom level. With the increasing level, the elemental clouds are synthesized level by level, the amount of which become less and less. On the top level, a cloud is generalized. Thus a hierarchical tree on the concepts comes into being by extracting the qualitative concepts from quantitative data level by level. As well as human thinking, it is a pan-concept tree because the boundary between two neighboring cloud-concepts in the same hierarchy is indeterminate for the data randomness and its fuzziness belonging to the concept. In order to get more reasonable hierarchical concepts when the concepts in a lower level are generalized up to the concepts in a higher level, the magnitude coefficient of each cloud droplet is further treated. Finally, to test the effectiveness and efficiency, a case is studied on the dataset of car price. The results show that the proposed method is able to reasonably generate a hierarchical pan-tree for a dataset as human being, and the ontology from these concepts further gives a better specification of the conceptualization.

Automatic text summarization aims to address the information overload problem by extracting the most important information from a document, which can help a reader to decide whether it is relevant or not. In this paper we propose a method of personalized text summarization which improves the conventional automatic text summarization methods by taking into account the differences in readers' characteristics. We use annotations added by readers as one of the sources of personalization. We have experimentally evaluated the proposed method in the domain of learning, obtaining better summaries capable of extracting important concepts explained in the document when considering the relevant domain terms in the process of summarization.

Test suite reduction techniques decrease the cost of software testing by removing the redundant test cases from the test suite while still producing a reduced set of tests that yields the same level of code coverage as the original suite. Most of the existing approaches to reduction aim to decrease the size of the test suite. Yet, the difference in the execution cost of the tests is often significant and it may be costly to use a test suite consisting of a few long-running test cases. Thus, this paper proposes an algorithm, based on the concept of test irreplaceability, which creates a reduced test suite with a decreased execution cost. Leveraging widely used benchmark programs, the empirical study shows that, in comparison to existing techniques, the presented algorithm is the most effective at reducing the cost of running a test suite.

It is a known fact today that VANETs [1] are going to play an increasingly important role in vehicular communication in the future. The impact of these networks especially to solve the problem of traffic optimization and control is significant. Traffic Optimization through information Dissemination (TOID) is an algorithm based on a mathematical model in which vehicles moving on the road can exchange information among themselves to report the average velocity and density of the roads within a certain region such that the driver has a fair idea of the traffic conditions in the region and which road to take depending upon his discretion. The algorithm ensures that the information reaches the network in a timely manner and the overheads are a minimum. The overheads are further reduced by optimizing the input parameters related to the average velocity and density in the network. The algorithm also reports the estimated density and estimated velocity in the network with a fair degree of accuracy. The effectiveness of the algorithm has been substantiated through extensive simulations using QualNet [2]. The algorithm is ideal for traffic problems in developing countries as it works for vehicular ad hoc networks that are completely infrastructure-less.

An important strategic issue in the public transportation planning process is line planning problem. This paper considers the design of multi-service lines in urban public transportation. It consists in finding lines and corresponding frequencies. Description of “multi-service” concept is represented together with discussion of its distinction from “multi-mode” or “multi-modal”. Two models for multi-service line planning problem are proposed and aimed to analysis the “multi-service”, reflecting on service speed and vehicle capacity, impacts on line plan results. Two problems are exanimated: common line problem between rapid and normal buses, common line problem between different capacities of buses. Both models take into account common line problem between rapid and normal buses with respectively consider equal vehicle capacity and different vehicle capacities.

The recent advances in Grid and Cloud computing make new types of applications possible. At the same time, they require an infrastructure to implement heterogeneous computing resources time and cost-savely. Here, approaches that utilize design patterns, i.e., proven solutions to existing problems, seem to provide a good approach to enable these kind of applications. In this paper, we investigated which design patterns are already used in the area of Grid computing nowadays. After a brief description of the literature study design, we present our findings which include the discovered design patterns, corresponding categories, and application areas.
