Ubiquitous sensor networks are application oriented system, which are composed of a large number of cooperative sensor nodes. The identification of individual sensor node is important especially for some security-sensitive applications. In this paper, we focus on the establishment of trust relationship among wireless sensor nodes, and try to combine the message authentication and identity authentication as a countermeasure to hostile attack. Accompanied with a simple lightweight key pre-distribution algorithm, in which each node sends only one message, we propose a lightweight trust relationship establishing scheme for ubiquitous sensor networks. The new scheme, which works without a trusted authority in the network, is not only concise in format but effective in practice to ensure network trusted and secure.

Different realistic humanoid motion can be used in vary situations in animation. It also plays an important role in virtual reality. In this paper, we propose a novel method to generate different realistic humanoid motion automatically. Firstly, eigenvectors of a motion sequence is computed using principle component analysis. The principle components are served as "virtual joints" in our system. The number of "virtual joints" can be used to control the realistic level of motions. After given the "virtual joints" number, the actual joints' parameters of new motion are computed using the selected "virtual joints". The experiments illuminate that this method has good ability to generate different realistic level motions. © 2006 Springer-Verlag Berlin/Heidelberg.

In this paper, we propose a new system that conveys the virtual contact feeling to people. Virtually, we make the real contact feeling that they touch the tip of their finger to the object. As the friction exits between the tip of their finger and the object, we make the friction, and will be able to consummate the virtual contact feeling. Nowadays, only the visual information of the object is conveyed to the user on the screen on Web. By this technique, not only the visual information of the object but also the real contact feeling will be able to be conveyed to the user in the near future. And, we think that even use as a training system for the medical treatment and use as the braille system which even visual disability people can use the Internet. The real contact feeling of the object needs comparatively high frequency. Then, first of all, we focus the real contact feeling that is made from low frequency. At present, we study to make the real contact feeling without friction

Wireless sensor network (WSN), which is integrated with many technologies such as sensor, embedded computing, wireless communication and distributed information processing etc., is becoming an important branch of ubiquitous computing research. WSN is composed of a large number of distributed sensor nodes, so to ensure the sensor nodes dependable is essential to security of whole network. By introducing a lightweight tamper-resistance design based on security co-processor into sensor nodes, this paper loosens up the security assumptions of WSN, and redefines the objectives of WSN security. Based on such secure infrastructure, the paper also proposes a concise and effective key pre-distribution scheme, in which each node needs to send only one cluster key announcement message and cluster key net can be set up within neighborhood

In autonomous mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) where each user is its own authority, the issue of cooperation enforcement must be solved first to enable network functioning, such as packet forwarding, which becomes very difficult under noise and imperfect monitoring. In this paper, we focus on cooperation enforcement in autonomous mobile ad hoc networks under noise and imperfect observation and study the basic packet-forwarding function using the repeated game models with imperfect information. A belief-based packet forwarding framework is proposed to obtain cooperation-enforcement strategies solely based on each node's own past actions and its private imperfect observation of other nodes' information. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed belief-based packet forwarding approach can enforce the cooperation with only a small performance degradation compared with the unconditionally cooperative outcomes when noise and imperfect observation exist

This paper describes a simple system that can be used for autonomous demand-side management in a load site such as a home or commercial facility. The system identifies the operation of individual loads using transient patterns observed in the voltage waveform measured at an electric service outlet. The theoretical foundation of the measurement process is introduced, and a preprocessor that computes short-time estimates of the spectral content of the voltage waveform is described. The paper presents several example measurements demonstrating the ability of the system to obtain estimates of the spectral content of the voltage waveform.

As the increasing of system performance and computing power, embedded systems are more complicated and interactive. Therefore, operating system (OS) plays a more important role in embedded systems to utilize various hardware and software resources. However, no OS can meet all requirements of various embedded systems. Due to the advance of reconfigurable processors, system requirements can be more dynamic. Embedded OS has becoming more critical in the development of embedded systems and thus there is a strong need of configurable embedded OS to better and faster build up the target system. In this paper, we propose a configurable OS, called COS, based on SOA (service-oriented architecture) for embedded SoC (system on a chip) systems to build an application specific OS according to the system requirements. COS can be easily configured to better utilize the resources of the target embedded platform and have better support to the embedded application. Moreover, the COS can easily extend new features or functionalities of other OSes and even be adapted to the designs of other OSes. We implement COS on an ARM platform to prove its configurability and also evaluate its overhead. We believe that COS can be configured to meet the various requirements in embedded SoC systems and help to speed up the embedded system development process

Proposed new actuation mechanism realizes active or semi-active mobility for flexible long cables such as fiberscopes and scope cameras. A ciliary vibration mechanism was developed using flexible ciliary tapes that can be attached easily to existing cables. Driving characteristics of the active cables were confirmed through experiments and numerical analyses. Finally, the actuation mechanism was applied for an advanced scope camera that can reduce friction with obstacles and avoid stuck or tangled cables

In this paper, we develop a novel digital-shot system for sensing the throwing force information of shot-put athletes in real time. The digital-shot has been designed and manufactured with the same external dimensions and weight as the normal shot for open females. The three axes integrated accelerometer, as a crucial device in the force sensing system, can acquire the kinetics data along three orthogonal directions with reasonably high accuracy. By using the method of wavelet transformation, the characteristics of acceleration signals during the shot-put period can be extracted. Artificial neural network is adopted to recognise the movement pattern in different phases of shot throwing. For supplying more effective training instruction, with the help of six axes ground reaction force measuring apparatus, high-speed photography and surface electromyographic signal remote measuring device etc, an integrated platform of shot-put athlete biomechanical information acquisition is constructed. Based on the fusion of multi-targets and multi-parameters information, the shot-put athletes coaching system is proposed, which not only can supply constructive guidance for athletes to improve their skills, but also provide a new research platform of motion human modeling.
