Effect of Electron Thermal Conductivity on Resonant Plasmonic Detection in Terahertz Hot-Electron Bolometers Based on Metal/Black-AsP/Graphene FETs

We analyze the operation of terahertz (THz) bolometric detectors based on field-effect transistor (FET) structures with graphene channels (GCs) and black-phosphorus and black-arsenic gate barrier layers (BLs). Such GC FETs use two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) heating by the incident THz radiation leading to the thermionic emission of hot electrons from the GC via the BL into the gate. Due to the excitation of plasmonic oscillations in the GC by THz signals, the GC FET detector response can be pronouncedly resonant, leading to elevated values of the detector responsivity. The lateral thermal conductivity of the 2DEG and its Peltier cooling can markedly affect the GC FET responsivity, in particular its spectral characteristics. These effects should be considered for the optimization of GC FET detectors.

DURING our discussion at workshops for writing“What Does ChatGPT Say:The DAO from Algorithmic Intelligence to Linguistic Intelligence”[1],we had expected the next milestone for Artificial Intelligence(AI)would be in the direction of Imaginative Intelligence(II),i.e.,something similar to automatic wordsto-videos generation or intelligent digital movies/theater technology that could be used for conducting new“Artificiofactual Experiments”[2]to replace conventional“Counterfactual Experiments”in scientific research and technical development for both natural and social studies[2]-[6].Now we have OpenAI’s Sora,so soon,but this is not the final,actually far away,and it is just the beginning.

Digital pathology involves converting physical tissue slides into high-resolution Whole Slide Images (WSIs), which pathologists analyze for disease-affected tissues. However, large histology slides with numerous microscopic fields pose challenges for visual search. To aid pathologists, computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems offer visual assistance in efficiently examining WSIs and identifying diagnostically relevant regions. This paper presents a novel histopathological image analysis method employing Weakly Supervised Semantic Segmentation (WSSS) based on Capsule Networks, the first such application. The proposed model is evaluated using the Atlas of Digital Pathology (ADP) dataset and its performance is compared with other histopathological semantic segmentation methodologies. The findings underscore the potential of Capsule Networks in enhancing the precision and efficiency of histopathological image analysis. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms traditional methods in terms of accuracy and the mean Intersection-over-Union (mIoU) metric. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper addresses the problem of verifying co-detectability for a labeled Petri net that is observed at multiple observation sites, each with its own observation map. A system is strongly co-detectable if at least one site is able to determine the state of the system uniquely following any long enough sequence of observations. We check strong co-detectability for a labeled Petri net using an approach that exploits the notion of basis markings, which avoids an exhaustive enumeration of all reachable markings of the net. Specifically, a structure called BRG-based co-verifier is exploited for the verification of strong co-detectability. In addition, by employing the proposed BRG-based co-verifier, some rules and relabeling options are provided to identify a new relabeling function such that a system that is not strongly co-detectable becomes strongly co-detectable. Finally,an integer programming problem is formulated to find an optimal relabeling function when considering different relabeling costs on transitions.

Multi and single carrier waveforms are utilized in cellular systems for high-speed data *** The Fifth Generation(5G)system,several waveform techniques based on multi carrier waveforms are ***,the Peak to Average Power Ratio(PAPR)is seen as one of the significant concerns in advanced waveforms as it degrades the efficiency of the *** proposed article documents the study,progress,and implementation of PAPR reduction algorithms for the 5G radio *** compare the PAPR algorithm performance for advanced and conventional *** simulation results reveal that the advanced Partial Transmission Sequence(PTS)and Selective Mapping(SLM)methods enhanced the throughput and gain of the 5G ***,we have also analyzed the performance of Orthogonal Time Frequency Space Modulation(OTFSM)based on a single carrier system and found that PAPR is significantly low and is best suited to fading *** is seen that the conventional algorithms lower the PAPR but increase the *** proposed PTS and SLM have shown good performance with low computational complexity.

computer-Aided Pronunciation Training (CAPT) systems are gaining popularity recently due to the advancements in deep neural networks (DNN) and machine learning and the availability of databases of speech of language learners. Unfortunately, research in Arabic CAPT systems suffer from the lack of CAPT datasets compared to other languages. In this paper, we present the details of and the ideas used in the development of a versatile dataset of speech, real and synthesized, of Arabic Learners. To develop the dataset, we utilized an existing Arabic speech corpus, King Saud University Speech Database (KSU-SD). KSU-SD's main application was a speaker recognition system, but it was designed to be useful in other applications such as CAPT systems. KSU-SD includes a large number of speakers from diverse nationalities (Saudis, Arabs, and Non-Arabs). KSU-SD contains the recording of about 60 non-native speakers from more than 20 nationalities, hence we selected it to build the non-native Arabic-CAPT corpus. The developed corpus consists of transcribed, segmented, and annotated speech, which makes it suitable for building Arabic CAPT systems. In addition to presenting the details of developing the dataset, we also present an analysis of the text and speech errors of the dataset. The dataset was verified by many CAPT systems. © 2023 IEEE.

In conjunction with the growth of automated warehouses, a logistical problem also increases. The automated inventory counting problem emerges from the difficulty of managing the products of these large distribution centers. Usually, these centers have long corridors and high shelves with many different products. To solve this problem, this work proposes an approach of a highly-scalable low-cost plug-and-play multirobot system for inventory management. Our approach is composed of a set that includes a micro-drone, an embedded camera module, and a ground mobile robot. In our tests, two situations are analyzed: first with one heterogeneous multirobot system set and a second situation with two heterogeneous multi-robot system sets. The results demonstrate the advantage of having the interconnected multi-robot system to reduce the time of the inventory management task.

Mining industry is one of significant industry in the world. In order to increase efficiency, safety, sustainability and environmental impacts in mining process. This article presents a centralized data platform for mining process by design based on microservices architecture which can be supported various of input data source such as manual form, excel file and internet of things (IoT) device and notification when the value is abnormal. Our platform implementation on Amazon Web Service (AWS) cloud. For development of productivity in process and controlling quality the mine environment. The results of the platform operations with various source of data acquisition with response time is less than 1.5 seconds per each request.

Revisiting the K-nn algorithm for obstetric image segmentation

Medical image techniques are used to examine and determine the well-being of the foetus during pregnancy. Digital image processing (DIP) is essential to extract valuable information embedded in most biomedical signals. Afterwords, intelligent segmentation methods, based on classifier algorithms, must be applied to identify structures and relevant features from previous data. The success of both is essential for helping doctors to identify adverse health conditions from the medical images. To obtain easy and reliable DIP methods for foetus images in real-time, at different gestational ages, aware pre-processing needs to be applied to the images. Thence, some data features are extracted that are meant to be used as input to the segmentation algorithms presented in this work. Due to the high dimension of the problems in question, assemblage of the data is also desired. The segmentation of the images is done by revisiting the K-nn algorithm that is a conventional nonparametric classifier. Besides its simplicity, its power to accomplish high classification results in medical applications has been demonstrated. In this work two versions of this algorithm are presented (i) an enhancement of the standard version by aggregating the data apriori and (ii) an iterative version of the same method where the training set (TS) is not static. The procedure is demonstrated in two experiments, where two images of different technologies were selected: a magnetic resonance image and an ultrasound image, respectively. The results were assessed by comparison with the K-means clustering algorithm, a well-known and robust method for this type of task. Both described versions showed results close to 100% matching with the ones obtained by the validation method, although the iterative version displays much higher reliability in the classification. © 2021 - IOS Press.
