Recently, omnidirectional wireless power transfer (WPT) has gained widespread popularity since 2010s especially in consumer electronics application benefiting from ease of integration with furniture. In such applications, angular misalignment occurs frequently. Obviously, it will affect the stable operation of system significantly. However, the mechanism is not investigated accurately. In other words, the modelling and effects under angular misalignment are not investigated completely. Targeting at this, this article proposes a planar omnidirectional wireless power transfer system with three sets of planar coils. Afterwards, the complete modelling process is conducted for the planar omnidirectional WPT system under angular misalignment and N s effect is investigated. Afterwards, the simulation is conducted to verify the correctness of the modelling process. Finally in the experiment, three sets of coils are fabricated and the transfer efficiency are measured under orientation and angular misalignment at 6.78MHz. When charging the mobile phone and electronic watch receivers, the overall efficiency is 69%-78% and 55%-65%, considering the orientation and angular misalignment.

This work proposes a novel and provably correct method for three-dimensional optimal motion planning in complex environments. Our approach models the 3D motion planning problem by solving streamlines of the potential fluid flow, filling a gap in traditional motion planning techniques by guaranteeing a closed-loop, smooth and natural-looking navigation solution. Special emphasis is given to an inherent challenge of artificial potential field (APF) methods, namely establishing proofs of safety and stability over the entire optimization process. A model-based actor-critic reinforcement learning algorithm is introduced to approximate the optimal solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation and update the controller parameters in a deterministic manner. Through a series of ROS-Gazebo software-in-the-loop simulations the proposed methodology demonstrates robustness and outperforms widely used methods such as the RRT ∗ , highlighting its contribution to the field of 3D optimal motion planning.

Millions of individuals all over the world are living with diabetes, a chronic condition that necessitates regular monitoring of Blood Glucose Levels (BGL). The present technique for minimal invasive BGL monitoring involves taking a small blood sample and transferring it to a glucometer. However, this procedure can be uncomfortable for the patient. This research presents a method for non-invasively monitoring BGL with the help of a powerful controller called the ARM Cortex-M4. For non-invasive applications, we use photoplethysmography (PPG) signals. Using a photodiode and an infrared LED light, PPG samples are received from a finger sensor. Signal processing and feature extraction are carried out using the Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) method. To predict the BGL, two ML models are developed: one employing a Linear Regression (LR) model and the other an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model. The experimental findings show that the ANN model is quite effective, with an R2 score of 0.986. After careful consideration, the ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller's processing capabilities were found to be optimal for running the ANN model. The model must be fine-tuned before deployment so it can communicate with the microcontroller and provide correct inference in real time. The finger sensor simplifies PPG sample collection, and the OLED display makes it simple to view BGL. © 2024 IEEE.

With the pervasiveness of Stochastic Shortest-Path (SSP) problems in high-risk industries, such as last-mile autonomous delivery and supply chain management, robust planning algorithms are crucial for ensuring successful task completion while mitigating hazardous outcomes. Mainstream chance-constrained incremental sampling techniques for solving SSP problems tend to be overly conservative and typically do not consider the likelihood of undesirable tail events. We propose an alternative risk-aware approach inspired by the asymptoticallyoptimal Rapidy-Exploring Random Trees (RRT*) planning algorithm, which selects nodes along path segments with minimal Conditional Value-at-Risk (CVaR). Our motivation rests on the step-wise coherence of the CVaR risk measure and the optimal substructure of the SSP problem. Thus, optimizing with respect to the CVaR at each sampling iteration necessarily leads to an optimal path in the limit of the sample size. We validate our approach via numerical path planning experiments in a two-dimensional grid world with obstacles and stochastic pathsegment lengths. Our simulation results show that incorporating risk into the tree growth process yields paths with lengths that are significantly less sensitive to variations in the noise parameter, or equivalently, paths that are more robust to environmental uncertainty. Algorithmic analyses reveal similar query time and memory space complexity to the baseline RRT* procedure, with only a marginal increase in processing time. This increase is offset by significantly lower noise sensitivity and reduced planner failure rates.

Plastic waste entering the riverine harms local ecosystems, leading to negative ecological and economic impacts. Large parcels of plastic waste are transported from inland to oceans leading to a global scale problem of floating debris fields. In this context, efficient and automated monitoring of mismanaged plastic waste is paramount. To address this problem, we analyze the feasibility of macro-plastic litter detection using computational imaging approaches in river-like scenarios. We enable near-real-time tracking of partially submerged plastics by using snapshot Visible-Shortwave Infrared hyperspectral imaging. Our experiments indicate that imaging strategies coupled with machine learning classification approaches can lead to high detection accuracy even in challenging scenarios, especially when leveraging hyperspectral data and nonlinear classifiers. Compute-in-memory (CiM) emerges as a promising solution to solve hardware challenges in artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), particularly addressing the"memory wall" issue. By utilizing nonvolatile memory (NVM) devices in a crossbar structure, CiM efficiently accelerates multiply-accumulate (MAC) computations, the crucial operations in neural networks and other AI models. Among various NVM devices, Ferroelectric FET (FeFET) is particularly appealing for ultra-low-power CiM arrays due to its CMOS compatibility, voltage-driven write/read mechanisms and high ION/IOFF ratio. Moreover, subthreshold-operated FeFETs, which operate at scaling voltages in the subthreshold region, can further minimize the power consumption of CiM array. However, subthreshold-FeFETs are susceptible to temperature drift, resulting in computation accuracy degradation. Existing solutions exhibit weak temperature resilience at larger array size and only support 1-bit. In this paper, we propose TReCiM, an ultra-low-power temperature-resilient multibit 2FeFET-1T CiM design that reliably performs MAC operations in the subthreshold-FeFET region with temperature ranging from 0°C to 85°C at scale. We benchmark our design using NeuroSim framework in the context of VGG-8 neural network architecture running the CIFAR-10 dataset. Benchmarking results suggest that when considering temperature drift impact, our proposed TReCiM array achieves 91.31% accuracy, with 1.86% accuracy improvement compared to existing 1-bit 2T-1FeFET CiM array. Furthermore, our proposed design achieves 48.03 TOPS/W energy efficiency at system level, comparable to existing designs with smaller technology feature sizes. © 2024 Copyright is held by the owner/author(s).

This paper addresses the problem of collaboratively satisfying long-term spatial constraints in multi-agent systems. Each agent is subject to spatial constraints, expressed as inequalities, which may depend on the positions of other agents with whom they may or may not have direct communication. These constraints need to be satisfied asymptotically or after an unknown finite time. The agents’ objective is to collectively achieve a formation that fulfills all constraints. The problem is initially framed as a centralized unconstrained optimization, where the solution yields the optimal configuration by maximizing an objective function that reflects the degree of constraint satisfaction. This function encourages collaboration, ensuring agents help each other meet their constraints while fulfilling their own. When the constraints are infeasible, agents converge to a least-violating solution. A distributed consensus-based optimization scheme is then introduced, which approximates the centralized solution, leading to the development of distributed controllers for single-integrator agents.
