Aiming at the scheduling problem in the production process of hybrid flow-shop, a hybrid flow-shop scheduling model with the objective of minimizing the makespan is established, and a neighborhood search adaptive genetic algorithm (NSAGA) based on heuristic decoding strategy is proposed. An encoding strategy based on the first stage processing sequence and a decoding strategy based on a heuristic rule are used to guide the algorithm to find the optimal solution quickly. In order to speed up the convergence of the algorithm, the elitism strategy is introduced into the genetic operation, and adaptive crossover and mutation strategy based on sigmoid function is designed. In order to enhance the local search capability of the algorithm, a neighborhood search strategy is designed. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of NSAGA for solving the hybrid flow-shop scheduling problem (HFSP) with different scales are verified by simulation experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

Respiration is the most notable vital sign of humans so that it is usually employed to diagnose disease in medicine. Recently, a solution is proposed to decrease the cost of healthcare using flexible stretchable sensors to monitor respiration. However, the sensor is difficult to test millions of cycles on a real human body, which is essential to ensure accuracy and repeatability in practical applications. In this paper, a new humanoid thoracic cavity that mimics rib expansion/constriction is exhibited. Then, a position control based on Fuzzy PID method is presented. Focused on the scenario, the performance between the common PID method and the Fuzzy PID method is investigated. Firstly, the position control based on the Fuzzy PID method is constructed by utilizing position output error and its rate. Then, three gain parameters of PID are adjusted online according to the established fuzzy rules. Finally, the above two methods are compared by simulation and experiments. In a simulation, the fuzzy PID control algorithm improves the response speed, shortens the adjustment time, and meets the requirements of the system for high response and high accuracy. Besides, an experiment is carried out on a humanoid chest prototype. the results show that the control period of the presented method is shortened by about 50% v.s. the traditional PID under the step signal input. Tracking marked points using a laser tracker, the maximum tracking error is 0.0523 mm, the minimum error is 0.0450 mm, and the average error is 0.0473mm. Therefore, the presented method is validated to improve the performance of the humanoid chest. © 2023 IEEE.

Social assistive robots usually encompass a great compromise between the advanced perception models that one can use and their computing capabilities. The ideal approaches are always oriented towards low power consumption while maintaining a higher order of responsiveness to the surroundings. Therefore, we present in this paper, an improvement of the follow-me system on ASTRO. In detail, we propose the use of Mediapipe SDK for human detection and tracking, when ASTRO is meant to accompany someone that is walking. A study on the new velocity and distance profiles that the robot keeps from the individuals is presented and we have also evaluated how it affects their perception of being safe. The presented results show that our new approach allows the system to achieve real-time performance by becoming ≈ 9.1× faster, smoothing, and keeping a more natural distance from the user. © 2023 IEEE.

In the field of autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) landing, conventional approaches fall short in delivering not only the required precision but also the resilience against environmental disturbances. Yet, learning-based algorithms can offer promising solutions by leveraging their ability to learn the intelligent behaviour from data. On one hand, this paper introduces a novel multimodal transformer-based Deep Learning detector, that can provide reliable positioning for precise autonomous landing. It surpasses standard approaches by addressing individual sensor limitations, achieving high reliability even in diverse weather and sensor failure conditions. It was rigorously validated across varying environments, achieving optimal true positive rates and average precisions of up to 90%. On the other hand, it is proposed a Reinforcement Learning (RL) decision-making model, based on a Deep Q-Network (DQN) rationale. Initially trained in simulation, its adaptive behaviour is successfully transferred and validated in a real outdoor scenario. Furthermore, this approach demonstrates rapid inference times of approximately 5ms, validating its applicability on edge devices.

The paper analyzes the preparation of software for acoustic signal classification with machine learning techniques for microcontrollers. The design process was tested for three types of devices: Nordic Thingy:53, *** and Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense Lite. The classifier training process was carried out using the Edge Impulse platform. Experimental studies were carried out for the process of classifying sound signals generated by the vacuum cleaner motor. Facial expression recognition(FER)remains a hot research area among computer vision researchers and still becomes a challenge because of high intraclass *** techniques for this problem depend on hand-crafted features,namely,LBP,SIFT,and HOG,along with that a classifier trained on a database of videos or *** execute perform well on image datasets captured in a controlled condition;however not perform well in the more challenging dataset,which has partial faces and image ***,many studies presented an endwise structure for facial expression recognition by utilizing DL ***,this study develops an earthworm optimization with an improved SqueezeNet-based FER(EWOISN-FER)*** presented EWOISN-FER model primarily applies the contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization(CLAHE)technique as a pre-processing *** addition,the improved SqueezeNet model is exploited to derive an optimal set of feature vectors,and the hyperparameter tuning process is performed by the stochastic gradient boosting(SGB)***,EWO with sparse autoencoder(SAE)is employed for the FER process,and the EWO algorithm appropriately chooses the SAE ***-ranging experimental analysis is carried out to examine the performance of the proposed *** experimental outcomes indicate the supremacy of the presented EWOISN-FER technique.

Current industrial environments have multiple robots working alongside humans, thus providing an operator the ability to perceive the robot’s workspace correctly and to anticipate its intentions and movements through the visualization of the robot’s digital twin is of utmost importance for safe and productive human-robot collaboration scenarios. Much has been studied regarding single human-single robot collaborative scenarios, but few address multi-user multi-robot scenarios. To this end, this paper presents a multi-robot multi-operator architecture, where the users’ awareness is enhanced through an augmented reality head-mounted display. A multi-robot, multi-user collaborative scenario is presented in a laboratory environment with two industrial robots. Besides being able to interact with both robots in the system, each user becomes more aware of the robot’s workspace and its pre-defined trajectories. Furthermore, it presents how fiducial markers can help to establish the relation between the different coordinate frames.

While the field of 3D scene reconstruction is dominated by NeRFs due to their photorealistic quality, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has recently emerged, offering similar quality with real-time rendering speeds. However, both methods primarily excel with well-controlled 3D scenes, while in-the-wild data - characterized by occlusions, dynamic objects, and varying illumination - remains challenging. NeRFs can adapt to such conditions easily through per-image embedding vectors, but 3DGS struggles due to its explicit representation and lack of shared parameters. To address this, we introduce WildGaussians, a novel approach to handle occlusions and appearance changes with 3DGS. By leveraging robust DINO features and integrating an appearance modeling module within 3DGS, our method achieves state-of-the-art results. We demonstrate that WildGaussians matches the real-time rendering speed of 3DGS while surpassing both 3DGS and NeRF baselines in handling in-the-wild data, all within a simple architectural framework.
