A computing system that is based on the internet and offers users all resources as on-demand services. Servers, storage, databases, software, and networking are among these on-demand services. Usually, the user must pay for the use of the resources;they are not their property. The number of people using this technology is increasing dramatically as a result of these features. Although it has benefits, cloud computing poses certain security and privacy risks. The authorized user’s data can be stolen easily. This current research thoroughly investigates modern strategies to these problems, highlighting identity management protocols, effective encryption and blockchain-based solutions. The article identifies research gaps, focuses attention to the inadequacies of current approaches, and recommends the possible ways to improve the efficiency, scalability and trustworthiness. © 2025 IEEE.

In order to improve the accuracy of estimating the state of charge (SOC) of zinc-bromine flow batteries (ZBFB) in the discharge stage and overcome the problems caused by sudden voltage changes, this paper proposes an algorithm for estimating and correcting the SOC. The core contribution is the proposal of an improved Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network algorithm, which considers the effect of the circulating pump speed on the battery voltage during the discharge stage, and establishes a neural network model for the battery. The estimation result of the improved LSTM network has a mean square error of 3.322, representing a 12% improvement in estimation accuracy compared to the traditional LSTM network. Additionally, Kalman filtering is employed for error mitigation to further enhance estimation accuracy. After applying the proposed method, the maximum error between the estimated SOC and the actual SOC is 1.91%, and the average error is 0.30%. This indicates that the proposed method improves the accuracy of SOC estimation through enhanced real-time LSTM network estimation and Kalman filtering error cancellation, particularly during voltage sudden change in the discharge of ZBFB. © 2024 IEEE.

With an aging population and an increase in chronic sickness, healthcare systems are under increasing pressure. Internet of Things (IoT) technology has recently garnered a lot of interest for its ability to alleviate this burden. The IoT is a network of interconnected wireless digital devices that can gather, transmit, and store data automatically, without the need for human or computer intervention. In order to better anticipate health problems, diagnose, treat, and monitor patients in and out of the hospital, the IoT offers numerous advantages that could streamline and improve health care delivery. As a matter of urgency, decision-makers and heads of state around the world are enacting policies to provide healthcare services through the use of technology. Thanks to recent advancements in the IoT, healthcare has been able to evolve at a rapid pace. Research on Internet IoT uses in healthcare and newly developed emergency equipment are summarized in this article. © The Author(s) 2024.

Transformers have emerged as a groundbreaking architecture in the field of computer vision, offering a compelling alternative to traditional convolutional neural networks (CNNs) by enabling the modeling of long-range dependencies and global context through self-attention mechanisms. Originally developed for natural language processing, transformers have now been successfully adapted for a wide range of vision tasks, leading to significant improvements in performance and generalization. This survey provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental principles of transformer architectures, highlighting the core mechanisms such as self-attention, multi-head attention, and positional encoding that distinguish them from CNNs. We delve into the theoretical adaptations required to apply transformers to visual data, including image tokenization and the integration of positional embeddings. A detailed analysis of key transformer-based vision architectures such as ViT, DeiT, Swin Transformer, PVT, Twins, and CrossViT are presented, alongside their practical applications in image classification, object detection, video understanding, medical imaging, and cross-modal tasks. The paper further compares the performance of vision transformers with CNNs, examining their respective strengths, limitations, and the emergence of hybrid models. Finally, current challenges in deploying ViTs, such as computational cost, data efficiency, and interpretability, and explore recent advancements and future research directions including efficient architectures, self-supervised learning, and multimodal integration are discussed. © 2013 IEEE.

Anomaly prediction, aiming to predict abnormal events before occurrence, plays a key role in significantly reducing costs and minimizing potential threats to mechanical devices. Monitoring machines using fixed-length time windows faces challenges in accommodating the varying characteristics of anomaly events. The lengthy and imbalanced sequence data associated with anomaly events further complicates the resolution of these challenges. Additionally, the inherent trade-off between accurate prediction and timely alarm is a crucial concern, posing difficulties in decision-making. This study puts forward a novel framework for early anomaly prediction, named early time series Anomaly Prediction with Neighbor Over-sampling and Multi-objective Optimization (APNOMO), pronounced as 'abnormal'. The framework employs three key techniques: 1) sliding windows that divide long input sequences into segments for prediction at proper intervals, 2) over-sampling and proposed neighbor over-sampling that handle imbalanced data in a novel way, and 3) multi-objective optimization that searches optimal thresholds to balance accurately prediction and timely alarm the abnormal. Experiments on a real-world dataset demonstrate APNOMO's superior performance over some state-of-the-art designs, with higher recall, F1 score, and more suitable earliness. It can predict anomalies 0.78-3.56 hours in advance, showcasing excellent early anomaly prediction capabilities for enabling predictive maintenance. © 2017 IEEE.

The armature coil of the superconducting synchronous motor for electric aircraft requires a current of 1,000 A or more. However, a single superconducting tape at liquid nitrogen temperatures is insufficient for this operating current. Therefore, the armature coil should be composed of multi-strand parallel conductors. If the coil is constructed from parallel conductors, the inductance balance between the parallel conductors will be collapsed, so the current distributions will be non-uniform. As a solution for this issue, the uniform current distribution can be achieved by the transposition technique that changes the order in which tapes are stacked. Our previous research has developed the transposition method for the 2n-strand parallel conductors (n = 1, 2, 3, and so on). However, some of the superconducting synchronous motors are actually designed using a number of parallel conductors other than 2n. This study focused on the three- and the six-strand parallel conductors. We analytically clarified the unique transposition configuration for the three-strand parallel conductors that achieves uniform current distribution, and the transposition configuration for the six-strand parallel conductors by combining the transposition configuration for the three- and two-strand parallel conductors. As a result, the current distribution ratio became less than ±5% when the number of turns of the double pancake coil was a multiple of six by applying the transposition. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a costeffective Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) system for gait analysis, comparing its performance with the Vicon system and the VideoPose3D algorithm. The system comprises five calibrated sensors and a mobile app to measure lower body orientation during gait and stair climbing. Eight healthy participants were involved in the experiment, each performing ten repetitions to analyze hip and knee flexion angles. The IMU system demonstrated significantly lower mean square error than deep learning-based approaches and comparable results to the Vicon system, indicating its potential for clinical and research applications. © 2023 the author(s), published by Walter de Gruyter Berlin/Boston.

Morse code is one of the oldest communication techniques and used in telecommunication systems. Morse code can be transmitted as a visual signal by using reflections or with the help of flashlights, but it can also be used as a non-detectable form of communication by using the tapping of fingers or even blinking of eyes. In this paper, we develop a computer vision based approach that automatically characterizes the characters conveyed wherein a person can communicate to system or another person through Morse code with eye gestures. We can decode this visual eye tracking based language with the help of our automatic computer vision driven method. Our approach uses a normal webcam to detect the gestures made by the eyes and are interpreted as dots and dashes. These dots and dashes are used to represent the Morse code-based words. Image processing techniques-based blink and pupil detectors are employed. Blink detector helps us to detect a blink and the time that took for each blink. A blink that takes 2 to 4 seconds is acknowledged as a dot whereas a blink that takes more than 4 seconds is represented as a dash. The pupil detector helps us to detect the movement of the pupils, and if pupils move towards right with respect to a person then it is acknowledged as next letter and if the pupils are moved towards left with respect to a person then it is acknowledged as next word. In this way, we decode the Morse code which will be communicated using eyes and establish a non-detectable communication between a person and an automatic system. Our experimental results on an unconstrained visual scene with preliminary greeting words indicate the promise of an automatic eye tracking based system with success rate of 98.25% that can be of use in non-verbal communications. © 2023 River Publishers.
