Efficient production planning requires well-structured models compatible with metaheuristic and other optimization techniques. This study compares three established metaheuristic methods - sanitized-teaching-learning-based optimization (s-TLBO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Differential Evolution (DE) with a termination criterion of equal number of functional evaluations - for profit-maximizing production planning. The focus is on a single-level problem involving complex constraints, non-linear costs, budget and raw material limitations. The paper presents two solution strategies: a penalty-based and a correction-based approach. Analyzing 300 unique instances of the problem reveals that s-TLBO implemented with correction-based approach consistently outperforms the other methods in devising optimal production plans for two Saudi Arabian petrochemical industries with 24 products, 54 processes, and three raw materials for plant 1 and two raw materials for plant 2. © 2024 IEEE.

To enhance production planning efficiency, it's crucial to have well-structured models that align with metaheuristic and other optimization techniques. This research conducts a comparative analysis of three unique metaheuristic methods: sanitized-teaching-learning-based optimization (sTLBO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Differential Evolution (DE) with a termination criterion of equal number of functional evaluations. The primary focus lies on profit-maximizing production planning within a single-level framework, encompassing intricate domain constraints, nonlinear costs, budget limitations and raw material constraints. The paper introduces three correction-based solution approaches. Upon evaluating 300 distinct instances of the problem, the study reveals that s-TLBO integrated with correction-based approach 1 and 3 consistently outperforms the other methods when it comes to devising optimal production plans for a Saudi Arabian petrochemical industry. This industry scenario involves 24 products, 54 processes, and three raw materials. © 2024 IEEE.

Renewable energy sources have been increasingly targeted as an alternative for reducing fossil fuel emissions. This scenario requires a better understanding of energy systems' performance and limitations, notably using photovoltaic setups under diverse meteorological conditions and determining device measurement uncertainties. Accordingly, this study conducts a performance evaluation of a photovoltaic system of copper, indium, and gallium (di)selenide technology. It compares the results provided by a reference normalized equation with two interpretable artificial intelligence techniques, Fuzzy Inference System and Bayesian Networks, when temperature is also considered. In the experiments, the study found significant percentage differences between the normalization procedure and the fuzzy system on days with lower irradiation values. On the other hand, the results provided by Bayesian networks presented lower difference percentages in relation to the normalization equation values.

Plasticrusts manifest as a coating on intertidal rocks due to environmental exposure. They refer to crushed plastic debris that blankets rocks found along intertidal shorelines. This study significantly contributes to a better understanding of the occurrence of these novel plastic formations, shedding light on their potential pathways of formation during the Anthropocene era. The research provides comprehensive insights into the composition, origins, challenges, and effective management strategies for removing coastal plastic litter. The findings of this investigation offer valuable evidence regarding the formation and impact of these recently discovered plastic items in coastal regions, prompting discussions about their formation processes and their effects on the marine ecosystem. Recognizing that these newly emerged plastic litter pose a considerable threat to the marine environment is crucial. With their emergence, we face an environmental challenge, especially concerning the health of coastal ecosystems. Plasticrusts, when degraded, can release microplastics (MPs) and nanoparticles (NPs) into the surrounding environment. These micro- and nano-sized plastic particles pose significant ecological risks as they persist in ecosystems, potentially harming wildlife and entering the food chain, causing widespread environmental contamination. Significantly, it outlines strategies to minimize the impact of this emerging plastic debris and its source. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The commercialization of the fifth-generation(5G)wireless network has *** devices are being integrated into 5G-enabled wireless sensor networks(5GWSNs)to deliver a variety of valuable services to network ***,there are rising fears that 5GWSNs will expose sensitive user data to new security *** secure end-to-end communication,key agreement and user authentication have been ***,when billions of massive devices are networked to collect and analyze complex user data,more stringent security approaches are *** integrity,nonrepudiation,and authentication necessitate special-purpose subtree-based signature mechanisms that are pretty difficult to create in *** address this issue,this work provides an efficient,provably secure,lightweight subtreebased online/offline signature procedure(SBOOSP)and its aggregation(Agg-SBOOSP)for massive devices in 5G WSNs using conformable chaotic *** SBOOSP enables multi-time offline storage access while reducing processing *** a result,the signer can utilize the pre-stored offline information in polynomial *** feature distinguishes our presented SBOOSP from previous online/offline-signing procedures that only allow for one ***,the new procedure supports a secret key during the pre-registration process,but no secret key is necessary during the offline *** suggested SBOOSP is secure in the logic of unforgeability on the chosen message attack in the random ***,SBOOSP and Agg-SBOOSP had the lowest computing costs compared to other contending ***,the suggested SBOOSP outperforms several preliminary security schemes in terms of performance and computational overhead.

The advent of the Internet of Things (loT) heralds a trans formative era for electronic healthcare systems in smart environments, enabling remote healthcare delivery for individuals with special medical needs through smart home technologies. These smart homes are fitted with specialized electronic devices that automate healthcare delivery, enhancing patient safety and enabling real-Time health monitoring. Central to this system is a local intelligence unit that processes sensed data, identifies critical conditions, and facilitates communication between patients and healthcare providers. The integration of telemedicine and telecare into smart homes has led to the development of Telecare Medicine Information Systems (TMIS), further advancing remote healthcare services. However, TMIS faces significant security challenges, particularly in protecting sensitive user data transmitted over public networks. To overcome these vulnerabilities, identity-based authentication techniques based on extended chaotic maps have been proposed, though they often fall short of advanced security threats. This study introduces an innovative identity-based authentication scheme, leveraging an extended Chebyshev chaotic map within a smart city context, tailored for use in multi-server environments without trusted server relationships. The proposed scheme eliminates the need for a registration center and requires users to maintain only a single password for accessing multiple TMIS servers, offering enhanced security features and reduced computational overhead. The security and efficiency of the proposed scheme are substantiated through formal proof in the random oracle model, marking a significant advancement in secure remote healthcare delivery. © 2024 IEEE.

The Human-Centered Internet of Things(HC-IoT)is fast becoming a hotbed of security and privacy *** users can establish a common session key through a trusted server over an open communication channel using a three-party authenticated key *** of the early authenticated key agreement systems relied on pairing,hashing,or modular exponentiation processes that are computationally intensive and *** order to address this problem,this paper offers a new three-party authenticated key agreement technique based on fractional chaotic *** new scheme uses fractional chaotic maps and supports the dynamic sensing of HC-IoT devices in the network architecture without a password *** projected security scheme utilized a hash function,which works well for the resource-limited HC-IoT *** results show that our new technique is resistant to password guessing attacks since it does not use a ***,our approach provides users with comprehensive privacy protection,ensuring that a user forgery attack causes no ***,our new technique offers better security features than the techniques currently available in the literature.

System vulnerabilities are ubiquitous nowadays. In 2021, millions of cyberattacks exploited system flaws resulting in billions of losses. Despite massive vulnerability databases supported by the USA and China governments, there are still several unknown issues between them. This paper proposes a methodology to compare the National Vulnerability Database (NVD), the China National Vulnerability Database (CNVD), and the China National Vulnerability Database of Information Security (CNNVD). The results reveal that the CNNVD has 1,661 vulnerabilities entries more than the NVD and at least 40 more entries regarding Chinese vendors. Moreover, there is a temporal correlation of 0.917560 between the NVD and CNNVD. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this work is the first to normalize and compare the NVD, CNVD, and CNNVD using their data feeds.
