This paper presents Koch fractal aperture-coupled patch antennas operating in industrial scientific and medical band at 60 GHz (57 GHz to 64 GHz), for on-chip application. This work is the continuation of the development of aperture-coupled antennas with aperture and patch element built in 2 μm-thick aluminum lying on two layers of silicon with a height of 200 μm. The use of Koch fractal allowed the development of aperture-coupled antennas of greater perimeter with more metal in the patch elements, which promoted an increase in the gain. The observed gain for Koch fractal level 2 was of 10.55 dBi, with a bandwidth of 7.23 GHz, covering the ISM 60 GHz Band, and an increase of less than 10% in total patch dimension. For Koch fractal levels 0 (square), a polarization close to circular was achieved, with an axial ratio less than 6 at resonant frequencies.

Background: In post-stroke rehabilitation, functional connectivity (FC), motor-related cortical potential (MRCP), and gait activities are common measures related to recovery outcomes. However, the interrelationship between FC, MRCP, gait activities, and bipedal distinguishability have yet to be investigated. Methods: Ten participants were equipped with EEG devices and inertial measurement units (IMUs) while performing lower limb motor preparation (MP) and motor execution (ME) tasks. MRCP, FCs, and bipedal distinguishability were extracted from the EEG signals, while the change in knee degree during the ME phase was calculated from the gait data. FCs were analyzed with pairwise Pearson’s correlation, and the brain-wide FC was fed into support vector machine (SVM) for bipedal classification. Results: Parietal–frontocentral connectivity (PFCC) dysconnection and MRCP desynchronization were related to the MP and ME phases, respectively. Hemiplegic limb movement exhibited higher PFCC strength than nonhemiplegic limb movement. Bipedal classification had a short-lived peak of 75.1% in the pre-movement phase. These results contribute to a better understanding of the neurophysiological functions during motor tasks, with respect to localized MRCP and nonlocalized FC activities. The difference in PFCCs between both limbs could be a marker to understand the motor function of the brain of post-stroke patients. Conclusions: In this study, we discovered that PFCCs are temporally dependent on lower limb gait movement and MRCP. The PFCCs are also related to the lower limb motor performance of post-stroke patients. The detection of motor intentions allows the development of bipedal brain-controlled exoskeletons for lower limb active rehabilitation. © The Author(s) 2024.

The internet has become an integral part of our life, we connect daily for informational, social, entertainment and even work and economic purposes. Therefore, it is completely normal to connect to the internet; But it is not only people, also these everyday objects or things in our environment who connect to the network to take advantage of its benefits. This next stage in the evolution of the internet, in which connectivity extends to the objects which surround us, is known as the Internet of Things. Sensors, Machines, Devices, Wearables are part of the Internet of Things and these can be identified to be recognized and interact without the need for a human being. With the Internet of Things, the connection extends to any type of object. All these interconnected devices and people produce an immense amount of data, when analyzed, they become a tool that allows organizations to make wise decisions in real time by having information on various market situations and ensuring a better understanding of behavior and consumer preferences. One of the disciplines of Artificial Intelligence responsible for analyzing this large amount of data is Machine Learning, whose sole purpose is to improve the Decision-Making process. To understand the relationship between Internet of Things, application of Machine Learning and the Decision Making process, a bibliometric analysis is carried out from 2013 to 2020 to know its evolution, trends, research areas, authors and other aspects using Scopus.

One of the manifestations of the knowledge society is the increase in areas of uncertainty, transforming ignorance, understood as the ignorance of non-knowledge, into uncertainty, understood as the knowledge of non-knowledge. Knowledge management and strategic intelligence are transformative activities of society, implicitly connected with innovation in sustainability and business changes that result in greater organizational potential, and in a knowledge economy. The objective of Intelligence is to obtain value from data and information by analyzing a large amount of data. Mining and mineral extraction processes are a sector that due to its complexity requires tools for decision-making that ensure efficiency and competitive position without forgetting the stakeholders. Therefore, this study performs a conceptual and bibliometric analysis of production in the area of Knowledge Management and Intelligence quantifying performance indicators, identifying the main research areas and authors, and evaluating the development of the knowledge field using VOSviewer as bibliometric analysis software.

Mosquitoes' current insecticide resistance status in available public health insecticides is a serious threat to mosquito control initiatives. Microbe-based control agents provide an alternative to conventional pesticides and insecticides, as they can be more targeted than synthetic insecticides. The present study was focused on identifying and investigating the mosquitocidal potential of Cladophialophora bantiana, an endophytic fungus isolated from Opuntia ficus-indica. The Cladophialophora species was identified through phylogenetic analysis of the rDNA sequence. The isolated fungus was first evaluated for its potential to produce metabolites against Aedes aegpti and Culex quinquefasciatus larvae in the 1-4th instar. The secondary metabolites of mycelium extract were assessed at various test doses (100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 μg/mL) in independent bioassays for each instar of selected mosquito larvae. After 48 h of exposure, A. aegypti expressed LC values of 13.069, 18.085, 9.554, and 11.717 μg/mL and LC = 25.702, 30.860, 17.275, and 19.601 μg/mL; followed by C. quinquefasciatus LC = 14.467, 11.766, 5.934, and 7.589 μg/mL, and LC = 29.529, 20.767, 11.192, and 13.296 μg/mL. The mean % of ovicidal bioassay was recorded 120 h after exposure. The hatchability (%) was proportional to mycelia metabolite concentration. The enzymatic level of acetylcholinesterase in fungal mycelial metabolite treated 4th instar larvae indicated a dose-dependent pattern. The GC-MS profile of C. bantiana extracts identified five of the most abundant compounds, namely cyclobutane, trans-3-undecene-1,5-diyne, 1-bromo-2-chloro, propane, 1,2,3-trichloro-2-methyl-, 5,5,10,10-tetrachlorotricyclo, and phenol, which had the killing effect in mosquitoes. Furthermore, the C. bantiana fungus ethyl acetate extracts had a strong larvicidal action on A. aegypti and C. quinquefasciatus. Finally, the toxicity test on zebrafish embryos revealed the induction of malformations only at concentrations above 1 m

This work proposes the design and analysis of a bidirectional and isolated battery charger for applications that involve energy storage like UPS or hybrid generation systems. Bidirectional characteristic is fundamental to allow the charge and discharge of batteries in a single equipment, reducing the number of systems and volume in applications that involve energy storage. In addition, the proposed converter provides low voltage and current ripple that are important to reduce electromagnetic interference and to improve the battery life cycle, as well as reducing semiconductors requirements. © 2017 IEEE.

Effectively reducing climate change requires marked, global behavior change. However, it is unclear which strategies are most likely to motivate people to change their climate beliefs and behaviors. Here, we tested 11 expert-crowdsourced interventions on four climate mitigation outcomes: beliefs, policy support, information sharing intention, and an effortful tree-planting behavioral task. Across 59,440 participants from 63 countries, the interventions’ effectiveness was small, largely limited to nonclimate skeptics, and differed across outcomes: Beliefs were strengthened mostly by decreasing psychological distance (by 2.3%), policy support by writing a letter to a future-generation member (2.6%), information sharing by negative emotion induction (12.1%), and no intervention increased the more effortful behavior—several interventions even reduced tree planting. Last, the effects of each intervention differed depending on people’s initial climate beliefs. These findings suggest that the impact of behavioral climate interventions varies across audiences and target behaviors. © 2024 American Association for the Advancement of Science.
