Efficient feature selection for enhanced chiller fault diagnosis:A multi-source ranking information-driven ensemble approach

Fault diagnosis(FD)is essential for ensuring the reliable operation of chillers and preventing energy *** selection(FS)is a critical prerequisite for effective ***,current FS methods have two major ***,most approaches rely on single-source ranking information(SSRI)to evaluate features individually,which results in non-robust outcomes across different models and datasets due to the one-sided nature of ***,thermodynamic mechanism features are often overlooked,leading to incomplete initial feature libraries,making it challenging to select optimal features and achieve better diagnostic *** address these issues,a robust ensemble FS method based on multi-source ranking information(MSRI)is *** employing an efficient strategy based on maximizing relevance while proper redundancy,the MSRI method fully leverages Mutual Information,Information Gain,Gain Ratio,Gini index,Chi-squared,and Relief-F from both qualitative and quantitative ***,comprehensive consideration of thermodynamic mechanism features ensures a complete initial feature *** a methodological standpoint,a general framework for constructing the MSRI-based FS method is *** proposed method is applied to chiller FD and tested across ten widely-used machine learning *** optimized features are selected from the original set of forty-two,achieving an average diagnostic accuracy of 98.40%and an average F-measure above 94.94%,demonstrating the effectiveness and generalizability of the MSRI *** to the SSRI approach,the MSRI method shows superior robustness,with the standard deviation of diagnostic accuracy reduced by 0.03 to 0.07 and an improvement in diagnostic accuracy ranging from 2.53%to 6.12%.Moreover,the MSRI method reduced computation time by 98.62%compared to wrapper methods,without sacrificing accuracy.

The accuracy of wind power prediction is of great significance for optimizing power system scheduling and improving power output stability. In order to solve the established difficulties in wind prediction, a prediction method combining multiple models is proposed with the aim of realizing a high-precision wind prediction strategy up to 1 hour in advance. Firstly, the raw wind power data is preprocessed. Secondly, the comprehensive feature se-lection (CFS) algorithm is used to calculate the sum of the importance of each feature variable, and the input set of asynchronous eldest child models corresponding to the target feature is selected. Then, the adaptive noise complete set empirical mode decomposition algorithm (CEEMDAN) is used to decompose the wind power sequence, and each component after decomposition is modeled separately. The comparative analysis of a series of experimental methods shows that the method proposed in this study demonstrates excellent prediction accuracy and stable performance in the field of multi-step wind energy prediction. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Experimental Investigation of a Loop Heat Pipe with a Flat Evaporator

The loop heat pipe with a flat evaporator is mainly divided into two forms:rectangular evaporator and disk-shaped *** rectangular evaporator has advantages such as low heat leakage,a thin shell,and a large contact area compared to the disk-shaped ***,most of the research on rectangular evaporators focuses onworking fluids such as water,methanol,and acetone,when theseworking fluids are in operation,the internal pressure of the evaporator is less than atmospheric ***,propylene,and other working fluids can also be utilized in the loop heat pipe,these working fluids demonstrate better performance when operating within other temperature intervals,for example,the operating temperature range of ammonia is−20℃to 50℃,however,in an atmospheric pressure environment,it is very difficult for the shell of the rectangular evaporator to withstand the saturated vapor pressure of the working *** paper designs a rectangular flat plate loop heat pipe that can use ammonia as the working *** internal reinforcing structure is used to improve the pressure strength of the *** secondary wick connects the compensation chamber and the capillary wick *** experiment indicates that this kind of rectangular evaporator is unaffected by the position,and the secondary wick can effectively supply liquid under different *** thermal resistance of the evaporator wall was analyzed,and it was found that the thermal resistance of the evaporator wall was the main component of the thermal resistance of the *** heat transfer capacities of 460 W@0.5 m and 200W@10 m were *** test results indicate that by setting a reinforcing structure inside the flat plate evaporator,the evaporator can withstand internal *** with the design of the secondary wick,the flat plate evaporator can use working fluids with different pressures,expanding the range of available working fluids.

Structural Evolution of Biomass Pellets of Different Densities During High and Low Convection Pyrolysis

In this study, wood pellets of different densities were produced from wood shavings of the same batch using a flat die press. Their structure and mechanical properties were investigated and compared to the properties after subsequent pyrolysis with two setups: high convection (HC) pyrolysis in a fluidized bed and low convection (LC) pyrolysis. Various measurement methods were used to investigate the structural properties and the applicability of wood pellets and pellet char. It could be shown that although pellet chars from LC-pyrolysis exhibit a cylindrical shape, their mechanical stability is significantly reduced due to the greatly increased porosity. However, the characteristics in the radial porosity distribution remained as in the untreated pellets. In contrast, HC-pyrolysis in a fluidized bed led to severe structural damage resulting in pellet chars with larger cavities, mainly in their central regions. Consequently, a higher porosity in the center and a lower mechanical stability was determined. Furthermore, it became clear that low-density wood pellets produced with a flat die press equipped with short press channels are especially prone to these structural changes. It is assumed that an open pore network with big cracks and gaps between wood shavings within wood pellets in combination with high heat and mass transfer during pyrolysis can enhance the release of volatiles from the pellet. With micro computed tomography (µCT), it could be shown that cavities in pellet chars are likely formed at wood pellet regions with smaller wood shavings. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

SCLF: Self-Contrastive Learning Framework for Hydrogen Leakage Traceability

Hydrogen leakage traceability is crucial to ensuring hydrogen safety in the whole process of hydrogen production-storage–transport-application. However, due to the high cost of dismantling and testing, it is impractical to collect and label leakage locations for different leakage conditions. Traditional supervised learning methods lack generalization performance due to the difficulty of obtaining effective training on a limited number of labeled hydrogen leakage samples. Therefore, a self-contrastive learning framework (SCLF) is proposed in this study. Upstream of SCLF, a time-frequency fusion representation method based on self-contrastive learning (CL) is proposed to enhance domain-independent feature extraction, and a pretrained model (TF-FRM) is developed. Downstream of SCLF, a multirulebase fuzzy locator (MR-FL) based on fuzzy logic is proposed, which can locate the position of hydrogen leakage accurately by the representation based on TF-FRM. Finally, the proposed SCLF is tested on a real sensor signal, and its interpretability is also analyzed. Compared with other models, the SCLF demonstrates superior generalization, accuracy, and interpretability with limited supervised samples, achieving an average F1 score of 95.59%. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Trigger mechanism and dynamic characteristics of pressure drop oscillation instability within a liquid cooling loop associated with the compressible volume and the condenser

Pressure drop oscillation is an instability phenomenon encountered in liquid cooling loops utilized for electronic thermal management. However, two significant concerns must be addressed with regard to the triggering mechanism and the dynamic characteristics of the pressure drop oscillation instability, which are the compressible volume and the condenser. This study develops a simulation method for the liquid cooling loop system with multiple degrees of freedom, and the simulated results indicate that the upstream compressible volume is a requisite condition for the emergence of pressure drop oscillation instability in the cooling loop. Furthermore, a critical upstream compressible volume is identified. As the heat flux increases from 200 kW/m2 to 400 kW/m2, the critical dimensionless upstream volume is elevated from 0.03 to 0.05. In addition, the combined effect of both upstream and downstream volumes on the flow hydraulic characteristics of the cooling loop is investigated. It can be found that the magnitude of oscillations in the downstream volume is significantly less than those observed in the upstream volume. Moreover, these dynamic oscillations in the downstream volume can be eliminated when it reaches a specific threshold value. The effects of the hydrodynamic characteristics and the internal compressible volume of the condenser are analyzed. It is observed that as both the cooling flux and the hydraulic diameter increase to a specific threshold, the amplitude of the oscillations in the downstream volume increases by 21.4 % and decreases by 88.6 %, respectively. Meanwhile, the internal compressible volume of the condenser contributes to a reduction in the oscillation amplitude and an elevation in oscillation frequency. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

In Vietnam, many energy sources are currently in operation, such as thermal power, hydropower, biomass power, solar power, wind power, etc. However, thermal power still accounts for a large and important part of the power system. In particular, these thermal power plants burn fossil fuels like coal. To ensure the operational efficiency of thermal power plants while reducing emissions and contributing to Vietnam's roadmap to achieving net zero by 2050, it is essential to address the fluctuations in coal resources that are not as originally designed. This situation poses many challenges for thermal power plants in Vietnam. It requires a comprehensive solution to control and evaluate the entire operational process in the plant, especially in the boiler area, which determines key factors such as efficiency, reliability, and emissions of the plant.

Graphene/Epoxy Coating with Radiation Heat Dissipation Properties for Spacecraft thermal Management

In the space environment, the heat dissipation of spacecraft primarily relies on thermal radiation. To reduce the weight of spacecraft, it is necessary to replace the existing copper radiators with aluminum ones. However, aluminum radiators have a lower emissivity, which results in suboptimal heat dissipation performance. Therefore, enhancing the emissivity of aluminum radiators is crucial for improving their heat dissipation performance. This study investigates the rapid (100 s) reduction of graphene oxide (GO) into low-defect reduced graphene oxide (mRGO) using Joule heating for 100 seconds, followed by non-covalent modification to further enhance its dispersion in water. By incorporating modified reduced graphene oxide (mRGO) as the primary filler in an aqueous epoxy resin emulsion and using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) to enhance the adhesion between the coating and the aluminum substrate, a composite Graphene/Epoxy radiation heat dissipation coating (GERC) with high emissivity and strong adhesion was successfully prepared. Experimental results demonstrate that the coating containing 4 wt% mRGO filler exhibits the optimal heat dissipation efficiency (24.15%) and significantly enhances the infrared emissivity of the substrate (up to 0.93). This coating exhibits excellent thermal stability and strong adhesion, providing a novel approach for thermal management in space radiators. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.
