Quantum computing is an emerging field that utilizes the unique principles of quantum mechanics to offer significant advantages in algorithm execution over classical approaches. This potential is particularly promising in the domain of quantum image processing, which aims to manipulate all pixels simultaneously. However, the process of designing and verifying these algorithms remains a complex and error-prone task. To address this challenge, new methods are needed to support effective debugging of quantum circuits. The Quantum Image visualizer is an interactive visual analysis tool that allows for the examination of quantum images and their transformation throughout quantum circuits. The framework incorporates two overview visualizations that trace image evolution across a sequence of gates based on the most probable outcomes. Interactive exploration allows users to focus on relevant gates, and select pixels of interest. Upon selection, detailed visualizations enable in-depth inspection of individual pixels and their probability distributions, revealing how specific gates influence the likelihood of pixel color values and the magnitude of these changes. An evaluation of Quantum Image visualizer was conducted through in-depth interviews with eight domain experts. The ability to analyze the first impression of a person automatically enables novel applications in human-computer interaction and other areas. A person's first impression can decide about a positive or negative outcome in different daily-life situations. The human brain is able to get a picture of the counterpart's personality at short notice. The main aim of this paper is to show how a system based on a standard Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) as well as a 3D-CNN architecture, can be built to solve a multi-label regression task using only visual low-level features. This paper investigates how various pre-processing methods, such as face-extraction and data-augmentation, influence the predicted personality confidences. Furthermore, it explores different training strategies and optimization techniques e.g. regularization in order to improve the model performance. The results of this paper demonstrate an image-based as well as a time-sequence-based system to predict the Big-Five personality dimensions of humans in short video sequences by solving a multi-label regression task. The approaches reach an overall accuracy of 0.891 by using visual features only.

Vehicle detection in aerial and satellite images is still challenging due to their tiny appearance in pixels compared to the overall size of remote sensing imagery. Classical methods of object detection very often fail in this scenario due to violation of implicit assumptions made such as rich texture, small to moderate ratios between image size and object size. Satellite video is a very new modality which introduces temporal consistency as inductive bias. Approaches for vehicle detection in satellite video use either background subtraction, frame differencing or subspace methods showing moderate performance (0.26 - 0.82 F1 score). This work proposes to apply recent work on deep learning for wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) on satellite video. We show in a first approach comparable results (0.84 F1) on Planet’s SkySat-1 LasVegas video with room for further improvement. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Early brain tumor diagnosis has a significant role in reducing the risk of disease, as well as led to get better treatment results. Usually, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images are evaluated manually through visual inspection, which is difficult, time-consuming and often erroneous;this process is performed by radiologists or clinical experts, and its accuracy depends on their experience. Recently, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) becomes very essential to overcome these limitations. This paper provides a comprehensive assessment of the existing techniques and methodologies for automated detection of brain tumor coupled with oedema detection methods utilisation, with an emphasis on machine learning models. Moreover, this paper provides an analysis of the integrated procedure that pertains to the retrieval of brain pictures by identifying particular data sets in the procedure to recognise the stipulated attributes. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Archaeological archives are important assets because they provide primary information resources for research, mainly digital archives that not degraded. Instead of directly visiting a site, an archaeologist can examine and manipulate the data without harming the real object. However, choosing an efficient scanning scheme with detailed results is a challenging task. In this work, we present new sculpture models obtained in three different ways and assess it in two comparison approaches: A quantitative and qualitative assessment. The quantitative comparison architecture provides a detailed assessment of three different scanning mechanisms in two stages: point cloud and mesh comparison. This evaluation is purposed to describe the differences between unmodified data. Finally, a qualitative evaluation is performed by an expert and practitioner to explain the difference based on four different produced models to help their needs in the real application. Participatory Design and Participatory Textiles Practices have only recently begun to address their shared roots in notions of solidarity and community-building, as well as movements towards more just worlds. With this workshop, we hope to address, unpick, and strengthen them, by building an interdisciplinary and international community. Our workshop will focus on the processes involved in Participatory Design and Participatory Textiles Practice rather than outcomes, allowing us to acknowledge the need for continuous work and effort, project and relationships maintenance, and so on;and allowing us to appreciate that this work may never be complete. Following affective turn in cognitive science, recent decades have witnessed an increasing interest toward the role of emotions in education. Ample evidence suggests that learners and teachers experience a variety of emotions, ranging from joy and pride to anger and frustration. However, when it comes to the design of affective behavior in robotic systems for education purposes, the emphasis has been predominantly on communication of positive emotions. While we recognize that positive emotions are fundamental to successful learning, in this paper we wish to make the case for the consideration of ambivalent emotions for the design of social robots for tutoring. To ground this proposal, we focus on the emotion of teachers’ disappointment. First, we discuss under which conditions communicated teachers’ disappointment, while it may be experienced as emotionally ambivalent by teachers and students, functions as an affiliating pedagogical strategy. We proceed to sketch out the methodological suggestions we consider relevant for future studies of communicated disappointment in human-robot interactions within learning contexts. We conclude with critical reflections about the ethics of responsible designs of such studies. Curve reconstruction from unstructured points in a plane is a fundamental problem with many applications that has generated research interest for decades. Involved aspects like handling open, sharp, multiple and non-manifold outlines, run-time and provability as well as potential extension to 3D for surface reconstruction have led to many different algorithms. We survey the literature on 2D curve reconstruction and then present an open-sourced benchmark for the experimental study. Our unprecedented evaluation on a selected set of planar curve reconstruction algorithms aims to give an overview of both quantitative analysis and qualitative aspects for helping users to select the right algorithm for specific problems in the field. Computational music research plays a critical role in advancing music production, distribution, and understanding across various musical styles in the world. Despite the immense cultural and religious significance, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) chants are relatively underrepresented in computational music research. This paper contributes to this field by introducing a new dataset specifically tailored for the analysis of EOTC chants, also known as Yaredawi Zema. This work provides a comprehensive overview of a 10-hour dataset, 369 instances, creation, and curation process, including rigorous quality assurance measures. Our dataset has a detailed word-level temporal boundary and reading tone annotation along with the corresponding chanting mode label of audios. Moreover, we have also identified the chanting options associated with multiple chanting notations in the manuscript by annotating them accordingly. Our goal in making this dataset available to the public1 is to encourage more research and study of EOTC chants, including lyrics transcription, lyric-to-audio alignment, and music generation tasks. Such research work will advance knowledge and efforts to preserve this distinctive liturgical music, a priceless cultural artifact for the Ethiopian people. © 2024, CC BY.
