Priority Encoder Based on DNA Strand Displacement

The slow development of traditional computing has prompted the search for new materials to replace silicon-based computers. Bio-computers, which use molecules as the basis of computation, are highly parallel and information capable, attracting a lot of attention. In this study, we designed a NAND logic gate based on the DNA strand displacement mechanism. We assembled a molecular calculation model, a 4-wire-2-wire priority encoder logic circuit, by cascading the proposed NAND gates. Different concentrations of input DNA chains were added into the system, resulting in corresponding output, through DNA hybridization and strand displacement. Therefore, it achieved the function of a priority encoder. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the molecular NAND logic gate and the priority coding system presented in this study. The unique point of this proposed circuit is that we cascaded only one kind of logic gate, which provides a beneficial exploration for the subsequent development of complex DNA cascade circuits and the realization of the logical coding function of information.

Communication between two parties needs security, so this study introduces a protocol called PAKE (password-authenticated key extended exchange), here client segments its password into two equal parts that are stored in 2S (two servers). These 2 servers communicate or coordinate with each other without indicating passwords to each other. Two server-based PAKE protocols on the basis of IBE (Identity-Based Encryption), by using this implicit authentication can be achieved. If any server gets compromised by an adversary, the password of the client has to remain secure. Currently, when compared to Katz et al. EPAKE, two-party PAKE and IBE provable safe without random oracles can save computation in each server. Index Term-PAK, IBE, 2Server, Ant optimization © 2023 IEEE.

Internet of things (IoT)-based on real-time and remote boiler fuel monitoring system: a case of Raha Beverages Company Limited, Arusha-Tanzania

RAHA Beverages Company (RABEC) is one of the banana wine production companies that utilizes fuel in steam production in Arusha-Tanzania, where fuel data conditions such as temperature, pressure, discharge, fuel level, and gas leakage with humidity were a challenge to monitor, which provoked boiler malfunction and plant breakdown. Today, RABEC manually uses a dropping stick into the fuel tank to monitor fuel data conditions which is time-consuming and gives inaccurate readings, inefficiency, fuel economy discrepancy, and accidents. This study aimed to design and develop an IoT-based fuel monitoring system. The flow meter, ultrasonic level, thermistor fuel temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors were used to gather fuel information where the GSM module was employed to send fuel data messages to the operator’s phone. An AT mega 328 microcontroller was used to process and analyse the fuel data and send them to the Thing Speak IoT platform using Wi-Fi connectivity. The results showed that when the fuel level was less than the threshold value, an operator was alerted by a refilling message via GSM technology. A pressure of 0.1psi, a fuel temperature of 120 ℃, and 80% of humidity, the system notifies the operator by an alert message to check the injector pressure and if the fuel–air mixture is perfect. In addition, these data were observed on the LCD and ThingSpeak webpage. To conclude, the developed system proved the best performance with a 99.98% of success rate with high accuracy, security, and efficiency rate compared to the current monitoring system. © The Author(s) 2023.

The overset grid is an effective method to handle the moving boundary problem with complex geometries or massed movement in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. As a critical part of the method, the Overset Grid Assembly (OGA) determines the point types. Hole cutting is one of the key processes of OGA to find out the hole points, which will not participate in the subsequent calculation of the simulation. However, repeated hole cutting is required when the boundary moves, restricting the assembly efficiency. In this paper, we propose a Block Corresponding Cutting (BCC) method to accelerate the process by reducing the redundancy of hole cutting with Rigid-body motion. Based on the open-source platform OpenFOAM, the experiments demonstrate that, compared with the classic SAM hole cutting method, the efficiency of BCC-based hole cutting is improved by 28.1% on average. © 2023 The Authors.

Aircraft parameter estimation using a stacked long short-term memory network and Levenberg-Marquardt method

To effectively estimate the unknown aerodynamic parameters from the aircraft’s flight data,this paper proposes a novel aerodynamic parameter estimation method incorporating a stacked Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)network model and the Levenberg-Marquardt(LM)*** stacked LSTM network model was designed to realize the aircraft dynamics modeling by utilizing a frame of nonlinear functional mapping based entirely on the measured input-output data of the aircraft system without requiring explicit postulation of the *** LM method combines the already-trained LSTM network model to optimize the unknown aerodynamic *** proposed method is applied by using the real flight data,generated by ATTAS aircraft and a bio-inspired morphing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV).The investigation reveals that for the two different flight data,the designed stacked LSTM network structure can maintain the efficacy of the network prediction capability only by appropriately adjusting the dropout rates of its hidden layers without changing other network parameters(i.e.,the initial weights,initial biases,number of hidden cells,time-steps,learning rate,and number of training iterations).Besides,the proposed method’s effectiveness and potential are demonstrated by comparing the estimated results of the ATTAS aircraft or the bio-inspired morphing UAV with the corresponding reference values or wind-tunnel results.

The authors aim to develop an integrated interface, Bio Discovery OS (BioDOS), that can present DNA sequences encoding various biomolecular networks corresponding to a desired behavior. Its development is being conducted as part of a team-based research project (Core Research for Evolutional science and technology;CREST). This CREST is broadly divided into the design of sequences by hybrid AI to generate a large number of candidate biomolecular networks followed by their refinement (Dry study), and the construction of a system based on isomorphic combinations guaranteed by mathematical models and biological experiments to confirm its operation (Wet study). Especially, the authors focus on determining the similarity with existing networks in the Dry study. It is required to narrow down the large number of candidate networks generated by machine learning and reinforcement learning by matching the successes of existing articles, biological experiments, and numerical simulations. In this paper, the authors aim to propose a method for discovering useful articles for BioDOS using various machine learning methods such as deep learning, and construct an article recommendation system for BioDOS using the proposed method. Numerical experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method and the constructed recommendation system. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Subspace Collision: An Efficient and Accurate Framework for High-dimensional Approximate Nearest Neighbor Search

Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) search in high-dimensional Euclidean spaces is a fundamental problem with a wide range of applications. However, there is currently no ANN method that performs well in both indexing and query answering performance, while providing rigorous theoretical guarantees for the quality of the answers. In this paper, we first design SC-score, a metric that we show follows the Pareto principle and can act as a proxy for the Euclidean distance between data points. Inspired by this, we propose a novel ANN search framework called Subspace Collision (SC), which can provide theoretical guarantees on the quality of its results. We further propose SuCo, which achieves efficient and accurate ANN search by designing a clustering-based lightweight index and query strategies for our proposed subspace collision framework. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that both the indexing and query answering performance of SuCo outperform state-of-the-art ANN methods that can provide theoretical guarantees, performing 1-2 orders of magnitude faster query answering with only up to one-tenth of the index memory footprint. Moreover, SuCo achieves top performance (best for hard datasets) even when compared to methods that do not provide theoretical guarantees.

Cybersecurity safeguards computer systems, net- works, and digital information from a wide variety of cyber-attacks. Its major purpose is to protect the privacy of users' data and resources while maintaining their integrity and making them accessible in the digital world. Cybersecurity is an area that receives investment from businesses, individuals, and governments all around the world in order to secure sensitive information, key infrastructure, and digital assets. Protection of Sensitive Information Both individuals and businesses store huge amounts of sensitive information digitally, including personal data, financial records, intellectual property, and trade secrets. This information must be protected in order to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure. The protection provided by cybersecurity prevents this information from being stolen, exposed, or accessed without authorization. Cyberattacks can result in severe financial losses, including theft of funds, fraud, and the expenditures associated with recovering from a cyber incident. It is possible to prevent these types of losses by taking preventative measures. Implementing these strategies helps prevent losses of this nature. In this paper, we propose a system architecture of a generic secure system, which can be deployed for various applications, i.e., smart healthcare, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), smart city, etc. We discuss the threats and attacks in cyberspace. Then, we explain the requirements of cybersecurity. Further, we discuss the devastation in the absence of cyber security. We also explain the cybersecurity deployments and techniques under cybersecurity. Then, in the end, some future research directions for cybersecurity are provided. © 2024 IEEE.
