Leakage Localization of Gas Pipelines Based on Modal Acoustic Emission and Cross-power Spectrum Peak Optimization

Leakage accidents in natural gas pipelines bring huge property losses and pose serious safety risks. Therefore, faster and more accurate leakage localization is of great significance. In this paper, a new method based on modal acoustic emission (MAE) and peak optimization of cross-power spectrum is proposed to enhance the performance of leakage localization. When a pipeline leakage occurs, the sensors installed on the pipelines receive the acoustic emission (AE) signals, which have various modes. Instead of extracting a single mode through complex algorithms, the proposed method directly extracts the cross-power spectrum of a specified mode by choosing the appropriate window function and window parameters to locate the leakage with velocity information from dispersion curves. Gaussian, Hamming and Blackman window functions are compared in the extraction of the cross-power spectrum of L(0,1) mode, among which the Blackman window function is found to be the most effective. The artificial fish swarm algorithm combined with the iteration criterion for peak optimization is used to obtain suitable window parameters. Finally, the localization error of the above method is less than 5.2%. In addition, the performance of the iteration criterion for peak optimization of cross-power spectrum combined with other intelligent swarm algorithms are investigated. The results show that the maximum errors of other intelligent methods are still less than 9%, demonstrating the great compatibility of the proposed method. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

This paper mainly introduces an optimized matching pursuit algorithm for the reconstruction of seismic reflection events. It adopts intelligent optimization algorithms of genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm algorithm (PSO) to matching pursuit algorithm for improving the processing effect and efficiency. Through experiments on synthetic seismic records and field seismic data, it demonstrates that both GA-MP and PSO-MP can reconstruct the reflection events effectively and efficiency, while PSO-MP performs better especially in waveform reconstruction. © 2024 IEEE.

The purpose of this research is to introduce IRIS, an Integrated Asset Analytics solution designed to offer real-time comprehensive insights and efficient workflow management for over 10,000 monitored devices, including sensors, valves, systems, and tanks since 2021. The motivation behind IRIS stems from the pressing need to address issues such as scattered data across multiple databases, leading to siloed information and a lack of visibility on critical equipment. By leveraging predictive analytics, IRIS aims to enhance maintenance planning, reduce operational and capital expenses, ensure compliance with safety standards for critical equipment, and minimize process safety incidents. The integrated approach facilitates data-driven decision-making, ultimately improving plant reliability and reducing unplanned downtime. This paper discusses the development and implementation of IRIS as an in-house cloud-based solution, highlighting its potential impact on instrument reliability and overall asset management. It provides valuable insights into the benefits and values of analytics, along with a brief module description and challenges during implementation. Through the use of predictive analytics, failure rate analysis, and early anomaly detection, IRIS aims to shift from a time-based to a predictive mindset culture, optimizing maintenance costs and avoiding deferment or shutdown. The implementation of IRIS offers significant benefits to complex operations, fleets, or networks of assets in the industry, including reductions in unplanned downtime, maintenance costs, and safety incidents, while also increasing asset availability and production productivity. In summary, IRIS presents a comprehensive solution to address challenges such as scattered data, lack of insights, and the growing need for integrated asset analytics in the industry. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an impedance control approach for human-robot interaction (HRI) systems without using torque sensors. A sliding-mode disturbance observer based on super-twisting algorithm is proposed to estimate the input torque of human applied to the end-effector of robot. Based on a Lyapunov approach, sufficient conditions are obtained to make sure that the estimation errors can converge to 0 in finite time through selecting proper gains of the observer. The impedance controller is proposed by using the estimation results of human torque. Simulation studies are performed on a robotic system, which shows the effectiveness of both disturbance observer and impedance controller. © 2024 IEEE.

The merging of Information Technology (IT) with Operational Technology (OT) in industrial environments brings about remarkable efficiencies and potential for communication. Nevertheless, the merging of IT and OT systems intensifies cybersecurity apprehensions, as demonstrated by a notable increase in cyber threats aimed at vital infrastructure. PETRONAS has used Remote Autonomous Operations (RAO) to address the issues presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. This approach focuses on ensuring business continuity while also dealing with increased cybersecurity threats. This paper presents PETRONAS' proactive cybersecurity deployment programme, which aims to tackle the heightened vulnerabilities linked to remote autonomy. The primary objective is to strengthen the capabilities of secure remote access by establishing a specialized team that assesses different solutions using technical and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) criteria. The technical criteria encompass specific requirements such as fine-grained access control, comprehensive logging and recording, multifactor authentication, and other critical functionalities. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the evaluation findings, emphasizing Solutions 2 and 7 as the most suitable options for PETRONAS' secure remote access implementation. Current initiatives are being implemented to rectify identified deficiencies and substitute the current solution with a more resilient alternative, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and adherence to regulations. © 2024 IEEE.

In the surgery of nasopharyngeal cancer, the surgeon operates through natural channels within small room. In its robot-assisted surgery, collisions between two manipulators and parameter variation of local tissue may lead to contact force change, It may cause target position offset. As the vessels and nerves were distributed densely in head and neck. The control system needs to ensure the operating contact force is within the safety threshold. It can avoid soft tissue tearing caused by changing of relative position over the limits. The research studies indirect adaptive admittance control based on position synchronization, which adjust the damping compensation rate. It improves the force control precision and system robustness of robot-assisted surgery through alleviating the effect of stiffness variation and collisions. And it can improve surgery security. © 2024 SPIE.

The ultra-high accuracy indoor and outdoor positioning is fundamental for a variety of applications such as industrial automation, Internet of Things and structure monitoring. Approaches based on optical methods, ultrasound and computer vision are often suffer from limited coverage areas, obstruction by objects and high computing load. While the GNSS and canonical radar-like radio frequency (RF) methods are suffered from insufficient accuracy and are not feasible for many scenarios. Now we achieve an inverse GPS microwave positioning system based on ultra-stable frequency synchronization in free space and carrier phase difference principle to surpass the limitation of current methods. The stability of frequency synchronization link is better than 10−13/s. The distance resolution retrieved from phase information is 25 µm and the Mean Squared Error (MSE) of three-dimensional positioning is 16 µm. An ultra-high accuracy positioning system with large coverage area, compatibility and versatility can potentially be achieved gearing to extensive needs. . © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Miniature jumping robots(MJRs)have difficulty executing autonomous movements in unstructured environments with obstacles because of their limited perception and computing *** study investigates the obstacle detection and autonomous stair climbing methods for *** propose an obstacle detection method based on a combination of attitude and distance detections,as well as MJRs’motion.A MEMS inertial sensor collects the yaw angle of the robot,and a ranging sensor senses the distance between the robot and the obstacle to estimate the size of the *** also propose an autonomous stair climbing algorithm based on the obstacle detection *** robot can detect the height and width of stairs and its position relative to the stairs and then repeatedly jump to climb them step by ***,the height,width,and position are sent to a control terminal through a wireless sensor network to update the information regarding the MJR and stairs in a control ***,we conduct stair detection,modeling,and stair climbing experiments on the MJR and obtain acceptable precisions for autonomous obstacle ***,the proposed obstacle detection and stair climbing methods can enhance the locomotion capability of the MJR in environmental monitoring,search and rescue,etc.

A dual adaptive unscented Kalman filter algorithm for SINS-based integrated navigation system

In this study, the problem of measuring noise pollution distribution by the intertial-based integrated navigation system is effectively suppressed. Based on nonlinear inertial navigation error modeling, a nested dual Kalman filter framework structure is developed. It consists of unscented Kalman filter (UKF)master filter and Kalman filter slave filter. This method uses nonlinear UKF for integrated navigation state estimation. At the same time, the exact noise measurement covariance is estimated by the Kalman filter dependency filter. The algorithm based on dual adaptive UKF (Dual-AUKF) has high accuracy and robustness, especially in the case of measurement information interference. Finally, vehicle-mounted and ship-mounted integrated navigation tests are conducted. Compared with traditional UKF and the Sage-Husa adaptive UKF (SH-AUKF), this method has comparable filtering accuracy and better filtering stability. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified.
