This paper proposes a novel approach utilizing a parallel connection Supercapacitor array to optimize energy storage and release during regenerative braking in electric and hybrid vehicles. Traditional energy storage systems often rely on batteries, which have limitations in terms of cycle life, heating issues and efficiency, especially in high-power, short-duration applications like regenerative braking. Supercapacitors can act as an alternative solution for storing power generated from regenerative braking operations due to their long life cycle and rapid charge/discharge capabilities. The Supercapacitors when connected in Parallel connection form the total capacitance is the sum of capacitance of each Super-capacitor connected in parallel with it, This can increase the overall capacitance and keeps the voltage level constant. The circuit analysis for this Research is simulated using Proteus Software proving insights for the feasibility for potential increase in higher capacitance rating by connecting them in parallel to improve the vehicles performance characteristics and offering a extended battery life by reducing the load on it by the use of Supercapacitors and to implement this concept in Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. © 2024 IEEE.

Design of the dual layer adaptive super-twisting sliding mode control (ASTSMC) strategy for position control of a motorized single link flexible robotic arm is presented in this *** system comprises of a cantilever beam, the robotic arm whose horizontal sliding enables positioning at the required length. Prismatic joint at the fixed extremity of the flexure is positioned at the desired point (the set length) by a linear actuation system- the DC motor and the lead-screw. The parameters and hence the model of the DC motor is determined using the nonlinear least-square (NLS) parameter estimation method. The flexible manipulator is modeled using the lumped parameter model approach. The super twisting algorithm and adaptive law are designed in combination to control the position of the robotic arm;the performance of the adaptive SMC controller is compared with that of the classical PID controller and SMC. The simulated and experimental results show that positioning accuracy is ensured and the response time is improved by the ASTSMC controller. © 2023, The Institution of Engineers (India).

This paper introduces a research endeavour that utilizes a fractional-order control methodology based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to address the intricacies of the non-linear Twin Rotor Multi-input Multi-Output System (TRMS). The primary purpose of this research is to achieve propeller trajectory tracking and system stabilization. Various control schemes, including the Linear Quadratic Regulator with a Proportional Derivative (PD) controller, the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller, and the Non-Linear Fractional Order PID controller, are assessed for their performance on the interconnected system. The pitch and yaw angles are independently regulated by controllers specifically designed for the tail and main rotors. The parameters of these controllers are optimized using the PSO technique. The results indicate that the most effective controller among those tested is the enhanced PID controller, specifically the PSO-based Fractional Order PID controller. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper examines the difficulties associated with maintaining field instruments utilised in different industries, which arise from their wide variety and operating conditions. Conventional maintenance approaches, such as reactive and preventive maintenance, possess inherent limitations. The study aims to examine the output pressure signal of I to P converters, which are utilised as actuators in pneumatic control valves, across various mounting positions. The process of collecting data in real-Time is accomplished by utilising a pressure transmitter that is enabled with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The study analyses the output pressure using descriptive statistics. The I to P converter's performance is assessed using the control signal, output pressure. © 2024 IEEE.

Current smart parking systems primarily use technologies like ultrasonic sensors, RFID, and image recognition to detect parking space occupancy and assist drivers in finding available spots. These methods often face challenges in terms of accuracy, especially in dynamic environments with fluctuating lighting conditions, vehicle types, or obstructions. The proposed system introduces significant improvements by incorporating YOLOv8, an advanced deep learning-based object detection model, to enhance the precision and speed of vehicle detection. By utilizing real-time video feeds and robust data processing, this system can track vehicles more accurately, even in complex environments. Moreover, it offers real-time updates via an HTTP protocol, directly transmitting data to a web-based interface, ensuring seamless user interaction for parking guidance and space availability monitoring. This approach not only reduces time spent searching for parking but also enhances the overall user experience and operational efficiency compared to traditional systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Detection of Parkinson’s disease is often established on clinical monitoring and evaluation of medical signs, which include an indication of different motor signs. Furthermore, the ordinary point of view encounters rationality as it is based on analysis of motions that are specifically not recognized, tough to categorize, and steers miscategorization. Since Parkinson’s disease sufferers have distinct voice characteristics, vocal recordings are needed and highly regarded as a diagnostic tool. If Machine Learning techniques can truly note this disease with the help of a voice recording dataset, this would be a useful screening phase before seeing a doctor. The population's explosive rise has also resulted in an increase in the amount of rubbish produced daily. For both the municipal and federal governments, the rising amount of waste produced as a result of ongoing urbanization and industrialization is becoming a serious issue. Additionally, managing the waste that is being disposed of in landfills everywhere is a major challenge for the local government. Care must be taken when separating and transporting garbage to guarantee that there is as little damage as possible to the environment and public health. In India, the conventional approach of garbage segregation involves the hiring of rag pickers, a labor-intensive process that may have negative health impacts on those who are ***, we suggest using an Auto garbage Segregator (AWS), a low-cost and user-friendly method for separating household garbage. The waste is intended to be divided into four categories: dry, moist, plastic, and metallic waste. The system uses an LCD display to show the results of the segregation process, a moisture sensor to separate wet and dry waste, a capacitive sensor to identify plastic waste, and an inductive proximity sensor to identify metallic waste. The incorporation of IOT allows for ongoing observation of the amount of trash in each bin. The fill level is measured using infrared or ultrasonic sensors, and the information is wirelessly sent to a central server. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the design and development of a portable, manually operated desalination plant tailored for military patrol units in remote island territories. Addressing the critical need for reliable, scalable, and user-friendly solutions to produce potable water from seawater, the proposed system integrates reverse osmosis technology adapted for manual operation. The plant's key features include a modular design, low power consumption, and enhanced durability under harsh conditions. Field trials validated the system's performance, demonstrating an efficiency rate of over 85% in producing potable water. The system's minimal environmental impact and ease of use underscore its potential to significantly improve operational efficiency and sustainability in military operations. Future work will focus on refining the design and exploring additional applications in civilian and disaster relief scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

This work reports data-driven fault diagnosis and performance prediction framework for a boiler. In-house experimental setup of a boiler and heat exchanger is used to generate the data for various parameters. Various combinations of two, three and four state variables are used to develop eight different regression models using PYTHON in-house code. Performance of all these models is analyzed by comparing different statistical parameters like sum squared residual, mean squared residual and standard error. It is noticed that models with two state variables namely, steam temperature and volume of water or steam temperature and volume of steam predict the steam pressure with optimum error. These models are further tested to diagnose the fault which is added numerically in terms of upward and downward temperature drifts. The models are statistically robust and can diagnose the fault and predict the pressure which is within the target as evidenced through EWMA charts. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
