This study presents a flexible and expandable RF coil system for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of deep organs, such as pituitary glands. To adjust the size of the coil, a 3D folding structure made of PDMS and soft actuators are utilized. Also, the deployable RF coil system featuring both flexibility and high conductivity is implemented using an RF coil composed of conductive polymers. A combination of stereolithography, 3D printing, and PDMS casting techniques was used to efficiently fabricate complex structures, and a system is implemented that allows coil control by soft actuators. Additionally, a remote tuning circuit was used to adjust the operating frequency of the RF coil. It is confirmed that although the operating frequency changes as the shape of the RF coil changes according to the folding structure, the operating frequency can be maintained constant by remote circuit adjustment. This technology allows for the insertion of RF coils for MRI by reducing their diameter during the process of placing them as close as possible to deep-seated organs. This presents the potential to effectively acquire MRI images of various body parts while maintaining patient comfort and improving image quality. © 2024 IEEE.

The presence of wild animals near populated areas is a significant problem that poses a threat to human lives and causes resource damage. Animals often venture into these areas in search of food, which can result in crop destruction or harm to other animals, and in some cases, even human casualties. To address this issue, a reliable and effective approach is presented in this paper, which utilizes computer vision to automatically detect wild animals. The proposed method employs the YOLO object detection model to identify the presence of wild animals using images and uses an audio model trained through deep learning algorithms to detect specific sounds produced by wild animals. Once an incursion is detected, an alert message is sent to the relevant authorities to take necessary action. © 2023 IEEE.

Surface electromyography is a non-invasive technique of measuring the electrical activities of contracting skeletal muscles. Recently, there are several attempts have been made to actively decode these signals for the applications such as myoelectric control, rehabilitation and sports mechanics. However, the decoding of the surface EMG signals remains a challenging task for the researchers because of its randomness associated with the signal generation mechanism. Further, the stochastic nature of these signals contributes to the non-stationary and multicomponent variations in the signals and this makes the analysis highly complex. In this work an attempt has been made to develop a non-stationary signal processing framework using wavelet transform (WT) and independent component analysis (ICA) for the recognizing standing and sitting tasks from surface EMG. For this purpose, the surface EMG signals of vastus medialis recorded from fourteen untrained subjects are considered for the analysis the signals are preprocessed and subjected to wavelet transform and ICA. In addition to this, the time and frequency domain measures namely, mean average value (MAV), root-mean-square (RMS), zerocrossing (ZC), mean frequency (MNF) and median frequency (MDF) also are used to develop the classification models based on support vector machine (SVM). The models are validated using five-fold cross validation. The results show that the time, frequency and time-frequency features show considerable variations in both the tasks. All extracted features exhibits significant difference in sitting and standing tasks. The proposed SVM based WT-ICA technique is found to achieve a classification accuracy of 92.31%. The performances of time and frequency domain metrics are found to lower than timefrequency approaches. It appears that the proposed technique is capable of handling the complex non-stationary EMG effectively. It could be used for controlling external devices such as prosthetic legs. © 20

Our water systems are becoming increasingly polluted, which poses a serious threat to both human and aquatic life. The hazardous waste present in the water can be fatal for aquatic animals that consume it. Furthermore, humans are also vulnerable to the consequences of this issue, as the contaminated water is employed for drinking and irrigation purposes. The utilization of such water in irrigation can result in the contamination of vegetables, leading to potential health issues. Ingesting this polluted water can cause respiratory diseases, as well as water-borne ailments like jaundice and skin disorders. The primary focus of this project revolves around tackling the accumulation of floating garbage on the water's surface, which comprises plastic waste, household refuse, aquatic vegetation, and more. © 2023 IEEE.

The detection of lies in the internet age continues to be a difficult problem for law enforcement and researchers. This paper proposes an Arduino-based technique for lie detection that relies on the psychosomatic interaction between lying and small physiological modifications. The three physiological variables used in this model are heart rate, skin resistance, and temperature. These variables differ depending on whether a person answers the questionnaire honestly or dishonestly. © 2023 IEEE.

Energy harvesting using Wiegand sensor as self-sustaining sensor is an emerging research area. The Wiegand sensor is a magnetic sensor that relies on the phenomenon of large Barkhausen jumps, generates a triangular voltage pulse upon the application of an alternating magnetic field. Pulse generation occurs regardless of how slowly the magnetic field variation occurs, is an attractive feature which enables its use as an energy harvester even in presence of low-frequency sources. Wiegand sensor as a sensing element have been used in many applications. But Wiegand sensor as energy harvester opens interesting, yet still overlooked possibilities in the energy harvesting field. The major challenge with the Wiegand sensor is energy harvested per pulse in the range of nJ. In this research work, we have proposed the circuit using Wiegand sensor that uses buck converter in discontinuous mode (DCM) mode to generate the digital pulse of 4.5 V and 10 ms at extremely low frequency for each magnetic field reversal without the use of any external power supply. Battery-less digital pulse generation is demonstrated for rotating application in the present study. The operating frequency up to 100 Hz has been considered. The main advantage of the proposed circuit is digitization of triangular shape Wiegand pulse is feasible for extremely slow varying magnetic field which can be used directly by microcontroller unit for further analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

In the field of medical imaging, detecting brain tumors through image registration poses a formidable challenge. Automated tools play a vital role in non- invasively identifying and documenting tumors. Significant advancements in medical image processing, facilitated by advanced image registration techniques, have greatly contributed to improved brain tumor detection. Based on such techniques this study discusses image registration-based brain tumor segmentation and their advancements. This experimental validation is performed with MRI images of 100 patients from BraTS2020 (Brain Tumor Segmentation) dataset, it involves training models without registered images (35 epochs) and with registered images (20,35 and 40 epochs). This research presents a unique image registration approach that sets it apart from existing methods by employing the Gradient Descent Linear Search algorithm for optimization and using Mutual Information as the Similarity Metric, our method demonstrates superior performance compared to conventional techniques. The integration of Linear Interpolation, 3D Euler Transformation, and Advanced Resampling distinguishes our work, further providing a more comprehensive and accurate solution for multi- dimensional image alignment. © 2024 IEEE.

Strengthening the backbone of small farmers by developing small-sized automated machines will strengthen India as labour is scarce nowadays. Weeds are undesirable plants in a farm that substantially reduce crop yield and quality. Farmers often spend a lot of resources to reduce their impact unsuccessfully. Weed control costs 33% of the total cost of cultivation. Though intra-row weeds are 25% and inter-row weeds are 75% of the total weeds present on the farm, intra-row weeds are more dangerous than inter-row weeds. Also, they are difficult to remove. The proposed autonomous weeder is a prototype model that operates on a rechargeable electric battery. While going through a row, weeds are removed between two rows by flat and sharp blades (inter-row operation) on both sides. Simultaneously photos of space between two crops in one row are captured by the camera. Image processing and classification are done using Raspberry Pi, a machine learning model, and artificial intelligence. The detected weeds are removed by flat and sharp blades weeding tool attached to the mechanical linkage centrally (intra-row operation). Raspberry Pi is also used for controlling the pneumatic actuator, and motor. Testing of the machine in farms is in progress. © 2024 IEEE.

The Heat Exchange Recirculating Mash System (HERMS) is widely used in craft brewing to maintain precise temperature control during the mashing process, which is crucial for achieving optimal sugar extraction and mash efficiency. This study investigates the performance of four different temperature control strategies-P, P-logic, PI, and PID-in maintaining the desired mash temperature profile. The system was modeled using both First-Order Plus Delay (FOPD) and Second-Order Plus Delay (SOPD) models to optimize controller gains through Skogestad's method. Validation of the control strategies was conducted through simulations in MATLAB Simulink. The results showed that while P-logic control maintained stable temperature with 0% overshoot, PI and PID controllers achieved the same with only 30% input energy, compared to 100% used by P-logic. A real-world mashing is conducted with P-logic control. Wort quality was also assessed, with specific gravity, pH, and mash efficiency analyzed. This study highlights the trade-offs between control precision and energy consumption, providing valuable insights for improving HERMS system efficiency in both homebrewing and commercial applications. © 2025 IEEE.

The efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems is an important component in delivering high revenue to achieve the necessary goals at minimum cost and to overcome various climatic conditions in different areas. This paper aims to provide detailed techno-economic investigation of a PV system installed in a university in Delhi, India for one year. The analysis targets fundamental technical parameters namely AC power inverter indications, solid and baseline solar irradiation data, real-time yield as well as possible output. A comparison is then made of the expected production levels at 100% efficiency, 80% efficiency, and 60% efficiency then comparing the forecasted values with the production rates while considering breakdown losses, performance deviations, and energy losses during communication downtimes. In parallel, qualitative assessment validates the impact of operational inefficiencies on the profitability of the organization, and numerical assessment of ROI, the operation and manufacturing costs, and consequences of production inefficiency. The additional combination of both technical and financial data provides a comprehensive understanding of system performance by showing how technical variations including those in the solar irradiation and in the efficiency of the system have impacts on financial aspects in the long run. Thus, providing correlation of these technical and financial parameters of this study will create a framework of how to enhance performance of the PV system and how to make good financial decisions. The findings help to enhance the knowledge of actual performance of PV systems and provide useful information for enhancement of PV systems design, control and economic assessment in the renewable power generation industry. © 2024 IEEE.
