The pressing need for sustainable energy solutions has triggered the rapid development of solar technologies. Among these advancements, dual-axis solar tracking systems have emerged as a promising approach to augment solar energy capture. The dual-axis solar tracking system operates by dynamically orienting solar panels along both the azimuth and elevation axes, allowing them to precisely follow the sun’s position throughout the day. This continual alignment significantly increases the absorption of solar irradiance, thereby optimizing energy output. This paper delves into the design and implementation of automated dual-axis solar tracking system showcasing the performance enhancement compared to a traditional stationary solar panel. The system employs sensors and servo motors to detect the sun’s position, utilizing this information to dynamically adjust the orientation of solar panels. By evaluating the latest research findings, this paper underscores the potential of dual-axis solar tracking systems to revolutionize solar energy generation, making a compelling case for their widespread adoption in the renewable energy sector. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In this work, a comprehensive approach is presented for monitoring the health parameters of solar panels, crucial for assessing their performance and efficiency. The project focuses on key parameters including short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage, panel output power, light intensity, ambient temperature, and relative humidity. The development involves an economical Internet-Of-Things embedded system equipped with smart sensors and Wi-Fi connectivity. This setup enables remote real-time data collection, transmission and visualization of health parameters of solar panel. A novel technique utilizing a glass slab with a differential light intensity measurement mechanism is devised to effectively detect dust accumulation and trigger alerts. To provide a user-friendly interface, a web and mobile application is created. This application facilitates the monitoring of both electrical and ambient conditions surrounding the solar panels. The primary utility of this system lies in continuous panel monitoring, data collection for future machine learning model development, prediction of power generation based on input parameters, and the identification of panel maintenance requirements. This integrated approach not only ensures optimal panel performance but also contributes to the advancement of sustainable energy practices. © 2024 IEEE.

The supercapacitor is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative energy storage technology for some of its extraordinary features. Precise state of charge (SOC) estimation is necessary for the effective and efficient operation of supercapacitors. Kalman filter based estimators are widely used for SOC estimation. The fractional order extended Kalman filter is used in this study to estimate the state of charge of supercapacitor. A 5F Maxwell supercapacitor has been used for this analysis. An integer order equivalent circuit model (ECM) has been considered and the parameter identification has been performed by GA-PSO (Genetic algorithm—Particle swarm optimization) algorithm. The performance of the filter has been compared with integer order extended kalman filter. The obtained result has been analyzed through the experimental data in terms of computational time and root mean squared error. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Detection and Segmentation of Rice Diseases Using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

Rice is the primary food source for about half of the world's population, and it is cultivated around the world, especially in Asia. However, crop planting and farmers have faced various agricultural issues for centuries. The emergence of diseases that affect rice quality and production can result in crop losses. That is why the development of effective agricultural informatics tools is so important. This article focuses on the detection and the segmentation of various diseases that can affect the rice crop using deep learning techniques. This research explores a real-time, effective approach for the segmentation and detection of diseases in rice plants using a deep learning-based attention residual U-Net model. Data augmentation is performed to increase the model's effectiveness, and the model is trained from the scratch. We compared the performance of the proposed network with that U-Net and attention U-Net as benchmark models used in semantic segmentation. It was found that the proposed attention residual U-Net model demonstrated higher segmentation accuracy of 94.11%. attention residual U-Net with 39.09 million parameters achieves a dice coefficient of 0.9626 and a Jaccard coefficient of 0.6476. This proposed segmentation model can be used to detect diseases in other plants once it is trained on that dataset. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The sea surface wind field is an important physical parameter in oceanography and *** the continuous refinement of numerical weather prediction,air-sea interface materials,energy exchange,and other studies,three-dimensional(3D)wind field distribution at local locations on the sea surface must be measured *** current in-situ observation of sea surface wind parameters is mainly achieved through the installation of wind sensors on ocean data ***,the results obtained from this single-point measurement method cannot reflect wind field distribution in a vertical direction above the sea ***,the present paper proposes a theoretical framework for the optimal inversion of the 3D wind field structure variation in the area where the buoy is *** variation analysis method is first used to reconstruct the wind field distribution at different heights of the buoy,after which theoretical analysis verification and numerical simulation experiments are *** results indicate that the use of variational methods to reconstruct 3D wind fields is significantly effective in eliminating disturbance errors in observations,which also verifies the correctness of the theoretical analysis of this *** findings of this article can provide a reference for the layout optimization design of wind measuring instruments in buoy observation systems and also provide theoretical guidance for the design of new observation buoys in the future.

A novel resistance to digital converter (RDC) is presented for the measurement of low resistance (Rx, less than 1 Ω). The scheme is based on a dual-slope integrator with a T-network in feedback, three SPDT switches, and a comparator. In a typical dual-slope integrator with low Rx connected to inverting terminal, a large current flows because of which the op-amp behaves abnormally. Even decreasing the input voltage to 0.01 V doesn't help, because of which till date no RDC is proposed even for less than 100 Ω measurement. In the proposed scheme, Rx is connected to the middle branch of the T-network, while a fixed resistance and a feedback capacitor are connected to the other two remaining branches. The T-network boosts the input current entering the feedback capacitor thereby increasing the sensitivity which is a novelty. During charging, the lead resistance (RL) connecting Rx is measured, while during discharging, the Rx+RL is measured. Finally, RL is subtracted to accurately measure Rx. Hence the scheme is independent of RL in a two-wire type configuration, which is another novelty. The simulation results showed an average error of 0.0241 % in the range of 0.1 Ω to 0.9 Ω. © 2023 IEEE.

The natural gas sector depends significantly on pipeline pigging for in-line inspections, a standard practice. However, the usefulness of conventional pigs for this purpose is being questioned because of their inherent limits, resulting in rare deployment. This paper introduces a new bio-inspired pig design to address the limitations posed by the existing pigs. The solution aims to enhance the inspection methodologies, its adaptability to various pipe diameters, maneuverability around bends, and precise speed control. © 2023 IEEE.

The procedure of merging data from various sources into a single reference system/ reference frame is known as 'Image Registration'. The data can be images taken from the sensors, multiple different images taken from different angles, images from different lapses of time, images from a different point of view/frame of reference, etc. This type of data is used in numerous applications such as medical imaging, computer vision, target detection in the military, analyzing and processing of satellite data, etc. To merge and differentiate this data obtained from various different sources, image registration is used. This paper introduces two algorithms well-balanced together for image registration. The two algorithms used are Shi-Tomasi Corner Detection Algorithm and Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) Algorithm. The Shi-Tomasi Corner Detection Algorithm issued by *** and *** in the year 1994 is used for the corner detection in the reference image. The Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) Algorithm is used for searching, outlining and equivalenting the corners/features in the images. The average error obtained after the estimation of the TRS for, Translation of (500,500), Rotation of angle -10, and Scale of 0.7 is θ=0.18%, Δx=17.14% Δ y=7.69%,S=0.01%, and the average error obtained after the estimation of the TRS for, Translation of (500,500), Rotation of angle 10 and Scale of 0.8 is Θ=0.14%Δx=10.76%Δy=7.95%,S=0.01% © 2023 IEEE.

The marble industry offers a vast selection of styles, presenting a challenge for customers seeking the ideal marble for their homes or businesses. To address this, chatbots have emerged as a convenient means for customers to receive instant assistance and personalized recommendations. This paper introduces a marble recommender and assistance chatbot designed for a Marble and Granite selling company. The recommendation process integrates both content-based filtering and natural language processing (NLP) techniques. Utilizing Dialogflow, we developed and implemented the chatbot on the company's website. Through dialogue-based interactions, a conversational recommender system was established. The system adeptly comprehends various natural language queries and delivers relevant recommendations based on individual customer preferences. To evaluate the system's performance, we measured the accuracy of recommendations and user satisfaction. Our user study findings reveal that the chatbot provided users with a satisfying experience and achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 85%. The chatbot, named MarbleBot, proves to be an indispensable tool in helping users discover the perfect marble that suits their needs. The paper proceeds in a chronological order, beginning with the introduction, followed by a comprehensive review of relevant literature. The research methodology section outlines the tools employed, including Dialogflow methodology, Flask-API, MySQL database, system design, and pre-processing steps. Subsequently, we present the results, encompassing evaluation tools and an analysis of testing outcomes. Finally, the paper concludes with a summary of our findings and potential future directions. © 2023 IEEE.

Electric Vehicle refers to the consumption of electricity at a larger scale but is very environment friendly. The EV is certainly a growing technology now-a-days referring to the Electric vehicle. It consists of EVSE i.e., Electric Vehicle Supply Environment and CSMS i.e., Charging Station Management System. The challenge is to establish a communication between this CSMS and EVSE. OCPP that is open charge point protocol is the way to establish this communication. Many developed systems have their own disadvantages such as in communication, in handling, etc. The objective is to remove these errors and make the system work efficiently. OCPP being the most demanded has its own advantages such as it can choose a local network provider or change that provider, etc. This study discusses about an approach for the real time implementation of OCPP for EV. It holds the technologies such as Bluetooth. © 2023 IEEE.
