This paper proposes the combining of μ-synthesis robust repetitive control and feedforward control scheme to the design of constant sinusoidal voltage tracking for a stand-alone three-phase constant voltage inverter. The controller designed problem is defined in the form of two-degree-of-freedom feedback-feedforward controller. The D-K iterative algorithm is used to solve for both parts of the controller in one procedure to get the optimal controller. The proposed control scheme inherits the advantage of the robust repetitive control but does better in tracking performance. Simulation studies of the system were carried out using Matlab/SIMULINK to verify the effectiveness of the controller. The results show that the proposed control scheme outperforms the previous works under the scenario cases.

This paper presents an operational approach for determining satellite attitude from carrier phase GPS (Global Positioning system) measurements. A conventional recursive least square (RLS) estimator was implemented without requiring spacecraft dynamics. The proposed approach can be applicable for general space missions, particularly for real-time operation onboard-spacecraft. The attitude angles and electrical path difference (line bias) between antenna chains caused an offset error in GPS observables, can be estimated. The implemented estimator was tested with a simulated data, and the flight data collected onboard a mini-satellite orbiting in low Earth orbit.

This research aims to develop an adaptable and advanced human-robot interaction system for collaborative mobile robots. A delta manipulator with a series elastic actuator is designed as a collaborative medium between humans and mobile robots. The design of the delta manipulator as a human-robot interaction interface and its kinematics are presented. Three control strategies for translational motion and two control strategies for rotational motion are studied and discussed based on their advantages and disadvantages, depending on specific application requirements. This design approach enables the creation of a comprehensive controller system that can effectively command the mobile robot to perform a wide range of movements and maneuvers, enhancing its overall performance and versatility. The resulting system efficiently accomplishes complex tasks in various scenarios, making it a valuable tool for a range of applications.

This study proposes a cooperative transportation system, which uses multiple autonomous mobile robots with different maneuverability cooperating together to transport a rigid object. The system uses a leader-follower formation control strategy, by using the non-holonomic leading the way while the holonomic AMRs follow. The object is assumed as a constraint between the robots, and the cooperation is tested using a designed destination point, in which each follower robot receives commands from the leader sent through the laptop. To walk straight, all robots receive the same command, but for rotating, leader robot must evaluate the command for the follower robots by the designed method. The Robot Operating system (ROS) is used for the development of the robots and for standard communication. The proposed method is validated through simulation tasks using autonomous mobile robots with different wheel types. The results of the experiments have resulted and supported that holonomic and non-holonomic robots being able to cooperate with each other’s in transportation.

This paper presents object detection and modeling algorithm for automatic visual people counting system to identify individuals from top view images acquired from an overhead surveillance camera. This work proposes Snake algorithm with effective external energy function and a half-circle template initialization for modeling passengers. The experiment result showed that the proposed method could fit the Snake to the head and shoulder boundaries of the passengers effectively. Fitting error of 3.76 pixels per control point was obtained in our experiment. The information is not only useful for verifying humans but also for extracting appearance features to enhance performance of the subsequent tracking algorithm.

Most simulations of electric field distribution during the very fast transient (VFT) process are based on equivalent waveforms, which affects the analysis of the electric field. In this paper, the actual VFT process is simulated based on the 3D full Maxwell finite element method (FEM). The electric field distribution at different points is measured. To investigate the influence of the induced electric field during the VFT process, and whether high amplitude or high steepness is the main factor affecting insulation during the VFT process, the simulation results are compared with the electrostatic simulation results. The results show that the induced electric field caused by the wave process does not play an important part. The electric field distribution is hardly influenced by the induced electric field. Therefore, the threat to insulation caused by VFTO is mainly due to its high amplitude, which leads to a stronger Coulomb electric field. Besides, the wave process only leads to a 6~8% voltage amplitude increase, which is much lower than the amplitude increase due to externally generated low-frequency oscillations. Therefore, the high amplitude of VFTO is mainly caused by low-frequency oscillations, rather than the high-frequency components during the VFT process. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The approach to development methods which are described in paper allows possibility extension for minimizing costs and widely external hardware industrial control systems utilization. There is described development method of control applications by industrial WinPLC/WinPAC and REX control compiler in comparison to classical development methods that need expensive RT measurement cards and produce only one purpose development solution. The project is based on specification of development process of designed control schemas of prepared applications to an industrial utilization by direct connection and implementation to the chosen control system WinPLC/WinPAC. Paper deals with a way how to produce a solution for control applications that are prepared, designed and implemented in MATLAB-Simulink to the target platform. The multiplatform control system REX is used as a bridge between MATLAB and target platform.

This research studies the proof of concept to road traffic estimation based on the position and velocity of cellular phones. The positioning technique, received signal strength method, was applied to obtain road traffic data. The two algorithms: Linear interpolation of position from signal strength and centroid of signal strength were implemented to identify the positions and velocity of a mobile phone in cars. Successfully estimated results, position and speed, showed that both of two methods have the potential to estimate traffic congestion while the first method is more efficient than another. According to the first method, it yielded an average error of 190.8 m, while the velocity estimation yielded an average error of 10.38 km/hr. The errors from another are 195.29 m and 10.39 km/hr respectively.

The problem of vehicle detection and segmentation in outdoor scenes is tackled. Vehicle shadows pose problems in vehicle segmentation step. In this paper, it is proposed to employ temporal edge density information as prior knowledge to distinguish moving vehicle from moving shadow and background in a traffic surveillance system. Experimental results showed good moving vehicle segmentation performance. The proposed approach is currently limited to free-flowing traffic scenes.
