The Google Company released Google Earth (GE), a stand-alone program that combines three major Google services (satellite maps, local yellow pages, and a vast database of statistics) into a single interface which allows zoom to streetlevel details anywhere in the world. However, GE can only provide high quality geographic information service for limited parts on the earth. In order to enhance the quantity and quality of geographic information for GE users, an Online Geographic Information Service Platform (OGISP) based on GE is proposed in this paper. The architecture of OGISP is described in this study. Detailed implementation of OGISP is also explained. An application of OGISP shows that it can make every kind of developers add geographic information or web resources to GE freely. Thus, users can share geographic information and web resources after loading a plug-in component. The efficiency of OGISP has also been demonstrated in this paper.

With the advent of Google Earth, it is an interesting idea that we build a web-3D virtual trading community where users can have their own houses or offices and engage in trading activities with each other. Thus, it is necessary to develop an intelligent project agency (IPA) to deal with the huge amount of project information. IPA is an effective way of not only filtering and clustering the users’ requirements accurately, but providing interface of high performance for search engine and sending the matching information to the users automatically as well. In order to achieve these targets, IPA is proposed in this paper. The architecture of IPA is described and its detailed implementation is also explained. Additionally, we demonstrate that IPA can provide users with the most serviceable information and shorten the period of trading greatly.

In this paper, a general-purpose similarity-measure recognition system using Associative Processor (AP) chips for real time hand gesture recognition is proposed. In order to get hand gesture feature vectors, the system adopts a vision-based hand tracking approach by using hand gesture segmentation algorithm. The system downloads those feature vectors data from large hand gesture feature vectors data base into the onchip cache memory of an AP, then performs gestures matching in an extremely short time. Although gestures recognition processing is computationally very expensive by software, latency free recognition becomes possible due to the highly parallel maximum-likelihood matching architecture of the AP chip. In this study, we propose a solution about hand gestures recognition using large testing/training data and the hardwareaccelerated matching architecture for human-computer interaction. Using a prototype AP chip implemented in fieldprogrammable gate arrays (FPGA), the effectiveness of such application systems has been demonstrated.

Google Earth, as we all know, is excellent software that provides maps by satellite images around the world. It has been applied to many fields because of its scalability. Up to now, there have been so many types of virtual communities arise. However, few of the services they provide are based on Google Earth. And almost no communities can combine the Google Earth with instant communication. In this paper, we proposed the 3D Virtual Community with Instant Communication System (3DVCIMS) based on GEPlugin. The architecture of 3DVCIMS is described and the implementation is also explained in this study. Furthermore, we introduce a tested prototype as the application of our system. Users can get their network neighbors around them and communicate with them by Instant Messaging System (IMS). It has shown great stability, accurate location of users’ position and efficiency of communication among users.

Brain-computer interface (BCI) is a system that allows its users to control external devices with brain activity. This paper presents a new method for classifying the off-line experimental electroencephalogram (EEG) signals from the BCI Competition 2003..which achieved higher accuracy. The method has three main steps. First, wavelet coefficient was reconstructed by using wavelet transform in order to extract feature of EEG for mental tasks. At the same time, in frequency extraction, we use the AR model power spectral density as the frequency feature. Second, we combine the power spectral density feature and the wavelet coefficient feature as the final feature vector. Finally, linear algorithm is introduced to classify the feature vector based on iteration to obtain weight of the vector's components. The classified result shows that the effect using feature vector is better than just using one feature. This research provides a new idea for the identification of motor imagery tasks and establishes a substantial theory and experimental support for BCI application.
