Virtual Reality(VR)is a key industry for the development of the digital economy in the *** VR has advantages in terms of mobility,lightweight and cost-effectiveness,which has gradually become the mainstream implementation of *** this paper,a mobile VR video adaptive transmission mechanism based on intelligent caching and hierarchical buffering strategy in Mobile Edge computing(MEC)-equipped 5G networks is proposed,aiming at the low latency requirements of mobile VR services and flexible buffer management for VR video adaptive *** support VR content proactive caching and intelligent buffer management,users’behavioral similarity and head movement trajectory are jointly used for viewpoint *** tile-based content is proactively cached in the MEC nodes based on the popularity of the VR ***,a hierarchical buffer-based adaptive update algorithm is presented,which jointly considers bandwidth,buffer,and predicted viewpoint status to update the tile chunk in client ***,according to the decomposition of the problem,the buffer update problem is modeled as an optimization problem,and the corresponding solution algorithms are ***,the simulation results show that the adaptive caching algorithm based on 5G intelligent edge and hierarchical buffer strategy can improve the user experience in the case of bandwidth fluctuations,and the proposed viewpoint prediction method can significantly improve the accuracy of viewpoint prediction by 15%.

The goal of multilingual modelling is to generate multilingual text representations for various downstream tasks in different languages. However, some state-of-the-art pre-trained multilingual models perform poorly on many low-resource languages due to the lack of representation space and model capacity. To alleviate this issue, we propose a Multilingual model Enhanced with Visual Text Representations (MEVTR), which complements textual representations and extends the multilingual representation space with visual text representations. First, the visual encoder focuses on the glyphs and structure of the text to obtain visual text representations, and the textual encoder obtains textual representations. Then, multilingual representations are enhanced by aligning and fusing visual text representations and textual representations. Moreover, we propose similarity constraint, a self-supervised task to prompt the visual encoder to focus on more additional information. Prefix alignment and multi-head bilinear module are designed to acquire an improved integration effect of visual text representations and textual representations. Experimental results indicate that MEVTR benefits from visual text representations and achieves significant performance gains in downstream tasks. In particular, in the zero-shot cross-lingual transfer task, MEVTR achieves results that outperform the state-of-the-art adapter-based framework without the target language adapter. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

SEED-VII: A Multimodal Dataset of Six Basic Emotions with Continuous Labels for Emotion Recognition

Recognizing emotions from physiological signals is a topic that has garnered widespread interest, and research continues to develop novel techniques for perceiving emotions. However, the emergence of deep learning has highlighted the need for comprehensive and high-quality emotional datasets that enable the accurate decoding of human emotions. To systematically explore human emotions, we develop a multimodal dataset consisting of six basic (happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, surprise, and anger) emotions and the neutral emotion, named SEED-VII. This multimodal dataset includes electroencephalography (EEG) and eye movement signals. The seven emotions in SEED-VII are elicited by 80 different videos and fully investigated with continuous labels that indicate the intensity levels of the corresponding emotions. Additionally, we propose a novel Multimodal Adaptive Emotion Transformer (MAET), that can flexibly process both unimodal and multimodal inputs. Adversarial training is utilized in the MAET to mitigate subject discrepancies, which enhances domain generalization. Our extensive experiments, encompassing both subject-dependent and cross-subject conditions, demonstrate the superior performance of the MAET in terms of handling various inputs. Continuous labels are used to filter the data with high emotional intensity, and this strategy is proven to be effective for attaining improved emotion recognition performance. Furthermore, complementary properties between the EEG signals and eye movements and stable neural patterns of the seven emotions are observed. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Speaker Extraction with Verification of Present and Absent Target Speakers

Target speaker extraction (TSE) models are expected to extract the target speech from a cocktail party mixture signal. When only trained with present target speaker samples (PT), these models output noise in the absence of the target speaker (AT). One may enhance the TSE quality by providing the information about the PT and AT. However, the detection of the target speaker is not perfect. In this paper, we propose a new model, TSEV, which performs target speaker extraction and speaker verification simultaneously. The TSEV model outputs an extracted speech and generates two speaker embeddings per inference to detect the target speaker. By sharing the speaker encoder and low-level modules, the speaker verification task can be performed in low signal-to-noise ratio scenarios. We train the TSEV model on multi-talker PT and AT conditions with fully overlapped speech. Experiments verify the superiority of jointly performing two tasks in the proposed model. The TSEV model achieves better verification performance without degrading the extraction performance compared with the baseline. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2025.

Fuzzy reasoning aims to describe things with fuzzy and uncertain concepts and convert them into information that computers can process. Wang thought that the inference algorithm based on Compositional Rule of Inference (CRI) had certain defective nature and proposed the triple I algorithm with fully implication operator. Later, the α-universal triple I (α-UTI) algorithm was proposed. As an important part of the fuzzy inference algorithm, the implication operator directly affects the robustness of the inference algorithm, that is, affects the quality of the inference algorithm. Besides, the quality of fuzzy reasoning algorithm can be partly determined by the robustness of reasoning algorithm. In this paper, the ordinary implication operator is extended to a more general interval implication operator. And the simple perturbation of the α-UTI algorithm is studied for some specific interval implication operators under the interval-valued environment. It is observed that the α-UTI algorithm possesses good simple perturbation performance for single rule or multi-rules, in which specific interval implications are used. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2023.

Traditional image emotion recognition focuses only on the emotion information embedded in the subject or part of the image, while ignoring the global emotion information. In this paper, we propose a new network based on Vision Transformer: a global perception network, containing a main module and a background module. The main module enhances the weighting of objects by showing the interdependencies between modelled channels. The background module further searches for emotional information in the background. In addition, we employ multi-task learning and Adaptive Gradient Clipping to improve the network. Extensive experiments show that our proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for image sentiment analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent work has revealed that in-context learning for large language models exhibits compositional generalization capacity, which can be enhanced by selecting in-context demonstrations similar to test cases to provide contextual information. However, how to exhibit in-context compositional generalization (ICCG) of large vision-language models (LVLMs) is non-trival. Due to the inherent asymmetry between visual and linguistic modalities, ICCG in LVLMs faces an inevitable challenge-redundant information on the visual modality. The redundant information affects in-context learning from two aspects: (1) Similarity calculation may be dominated by redundant information, resulting in sub-optimal demonstration selection. (2) Redundant information in in-context demonstrations brings misleading contextual information to in-context learning. To alleviate these problems, we propose a demonstration selection method to achieve ICCG for LVLMs, by considering two key factors of demonstrations: content and structure, from a multimodal perspective. Specifically, we design a diversity-coverage-based matching score to select demonstrations with maximum coverage, and avoid selecting demonstrations with redundant information via their content redundancy and structural complexity. We build a GQA-ICCG dataset to simulate the ICCG setting, and conduct experiments on GQA-ICCG and the VQA v2 dataset. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The application of physiological signals in emotion recognition is a popular research topic in human-computer interactions. Eye movement, as an important physiological signal, plays an essential role in medicine, psychology, cognitive science, and other scientific research fields. Previous studies have successfully identified human emotions by combining various eye-related measurements, selecting features, and utilizing machine learning techniques. However, the exploration of eye movement signals in emotion recognition remains insufficient. In this study, we utilize eye tracking heatmap and eye movement trajectory data for emotion recognition for the first time. Based on the two types of eye movement data, we develop a multi-way autoregressive model capable of processing multi-view eye movement data. Compared to traditional deep learning baseline models, our model better adapts to the structure of eye movement data and significantly improves the classification performance. Furthermore, we integrate heatmap and trajectory data with commonly used eye-related measurement features, which further enhance the performance of emotion recognition beyond previous methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Most of the current fuzzy clustering algorithms are sensitive to cluster initialization and do not cope well with high dimensionality. To alleviate these problems, we come up with a viewpoint-driven subspace fuzzy c-means (VSFCM) algorithm. First of all, based on the DPC (clustering by fast search and find of density peaks) algorithm, a new cut-off distance is proposed, and the cut-off distance-induced cluster initialization (CDCI) method is established as a new strategy for initialization of cluster centers and viewpoint selection. Moreover, by taking the viewpoint obtained by CDCI as the entry point of knowledge, a new fuzzy clustering strategy driven by knowledge and data is formed. We introduce the subspace clustering mode, fuzzy feature weight processing mechanism, and derive the separation formula between the clusters of viewpoint optimization. Based upon these points, we put forward the VSFCM algorithm. Finally, by comparing experiments and using multiple advanced clustering algorithms and experimenting with artificial and UCI data sets, it is demonstrated that the VSFCM algorithm has the best performance expressed in terms of five indexes. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper focuses on the large-scale optimization which is very popular in the big data era. The gradient sketching is an important technique in the large-scale optimization. Specifically, the random coordinate descent algorithm is a kind of gradient sketching method with the random sampling matrix as the sketching matrix. In this paper, we propose a novel gradient sketching called GSGD (Gaussian Sketched Gradient Descent). Compared with the classical gradient sketching methods such as the random coordinate descent and SEGA (Hanzely et al., 2018), our GSGD does not require the importance sampling but can achieve a fast convergence rate matching the ones of these methods with importance sampling. Furthermore, if the objective function has a non-smooth regularization term, our GSGD can also exploit the implicit structure information of the regularization term to achieve a fast convergence rate. Finally, our experimental results substantiate the effectiveness and efficiency of our algorithm. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)
