In this paper, a SIR-coupled dual-band bandpass filter is proposed, which has lower insertion loss, better out-of-band rejection. The bandpass characteristics of the dual-band are obtained by bending the SIR and coupling it, and loading the shaped branches. By changing the shape of the shaped branches, a transmission pole is added in the first passband, which reduces the insertion loss of the filter and improves the rejection effect of the stopband. The simulation results show that the dual-frequency bandpass filter has a center frequency of 6.26GHz, an insertion loss of 0.17dB, a return loss of less than -27.8dB, and a relative bandwidth of 15.5% for the low band, and an insertion loss of 0.67dB, a return loss of less than -15.8dB, and a relative bandwidth of 11.6% for the high band, at a center frequency of 9.26GHz. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper proposes a noise reduction algorithm based on symplectic Geometric Mode Decomposition (SGMD) and Savitzky-Golay (SG)filtering to address the issue of noise interference during signal transmission. Firstly, the noisy signal is decomposed using symplectic geometric mode decomposition to obtain several symplectic geometric components. The component with less noise is then selected and superimposed based on its energy entropy. Finally, the reconstructed signal undergoes denoising through SG filtering. The proposed method is applied to conduct comparison experiments on noise reduction for linear frequency modulation signals and multicomponent periodic signals. The results demonstrate a significant noise reduction effect of the proposed method, which holds great significance for signal analysis and research on noise reduction. © 2024 IEEE.

Amplified emission and lasing enabled by high-Q quasi-bound states in asymmetric dielectric metasurfaces via eigenfield perturbation

Symmetry-protected bound states in the continuum represent a distinct class of nonradiative modes in continuous media. By introducing asymmetric parameters into a symmetric metasurface, the inherent symmetry can be broken, transforming BICs—originally decoupled from external radiation channels—into high-Q quasi-BICs with controlled radiation capabilities. However, manufacturing constraints pose a significant challenge in fabricating nanostructures with ultra-small asymmetric parameters, thereby limiting the achievable Q-factor. In this work, we propose an asymmetric perforated metasurface structure that supports BICs. When the perforations are shifted along the x or y axis to a specific position, the linewidth vanishes, and simulations confirm the emergence of a BIC in the system, with a quality factor reaching up to 109. Furthermore, we demonstrate that selective eigenmode perturbation can effectively transform BICs into practical quasi-BICs. Notably, for the same structure, perturbing the weak-field region yields higher Q-factors, offering a flexible approach to optimizing performance. This approach enables precise Q-factor control and enhanced radiation properties. Furthermore, we design a laser cavity structure based on these quasi-BICs, achieving amplified emission and lasing with excellent agreement between simulations and theoretical predictions. These findings expand the BIC library and offer new methods for Q-factor manipulation, paving the way for high-performance optoelectronic devices such as nanolasers, biosensors, and nonlinear harmonic generators. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.

In this paper, we propose a DenseNet-CBAM model that utilizes DenseNet121 as the backbone network for feature extraction. The features are then weighted using the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), which incorporates both channel and spatial attention mechanisms. The features are further processed with ReLU activation and adaptive average pooling operations. Finally, a linear classifier is applied to output the final category predictions. Experiment results show that the proposed model performs the best in terms of the ability in detecting patients with high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). © 2023 IEEE.

A mimic multi-layer polarization-independent FSS with accessible angular-stability is reported using a three-layer structure, where the top layer and the bottom layer are realized based the metal rings that are same, and the middle is constructed by a slotted metal structure. The mentioned three layers are aimed to separate the used two dielectric substrates. For a well illustration, the constructed dimensions of the installed FSS are 5× 5 mm2. As a case of the FSS cell design, here the dimension is limited as 0.15λ× 0.15λ. Since two different structure is used, the FSS has double resonace, making a wide operation. From the numerical evaluations, the FSS can reject the signal from C-and X-band. © 2023 IEEE.

Reconfigurable intelligent Surface (RIS) is a revolutionary technology in modern wireless communication systems, since it can adjust the wireless communication environment with passive components. In this paper, we consider the system environment in the presence of Base Station (BS) interference and implement the estimation of the target Direction-of-Arrival (DOA). To improve the estimation performance, we propose a DOA estimation algorithm based on RIS. The proposed algorithm consists of an error term for the lorentzian bound function and a regular term for the atomic norm (termed as LBF-AN), which are implemented to eliminate system noise and signal interference, respectively. The simulation results show that the DOA estimation performance of the proposed algorithm is better than existing algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes and designs a microstrip antenna that can work in the B1 band for Beidou with a double-layer substrate, and realizes the circularly polarized radiation characteristics. The antenna consists of a ground plane, two substrates, and two metal patches. The first layer of the patch is a rectangular structure as well as the second layer of the patch is a T-shaped structure with two vertical branches which are to achieve circular polarization. This structure adopts a simple coaxial feeding method, with the probe passing through the second layer of the substrate to connect the ground plane and the T-shaped strip. The simulation optimization results using the HFSS 2021 show that the axial ratio (AR) beam width in both planes exceeds 160°, and the AR at the design frequency is 0.18 dB. The impedance bandwidth is 70 MHz, which can meet the requirements of Beidou's operation. © 2023 IEEE.

Linear Subspace Surrogate Modeling for Large-Scale Expensive Single/Multi-Objective Optimization

Despite that the surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms have achieved great success in addressing expensive optimization problems, they still suffer from stiff challenges when the number of dimensions of problems becomes large. The primary reason lies in that it is very hard to build an acceptable surrogate model in the high-dimensional search space with small amounts of evaluated historical data in evolution. To tackle this issue, we suggest an effective surrogate modeling method for large-scale expensive optimization in this paper, where the models are built on a number of linear subspaces instead of the original search space. Specifically, a linear subspace is constructed by a pair of points/solutions which are generated based on the set of elite solutions. For each linear subspace, several historical solutions are first associated according to their distance to the linear subspace, and then a surrogate model is trained by the associated solutions and used to evaluate the offspring. To ensure the exploration and exploitation capacity of the proposed method, these linear subspaces and the surrogate models are updated after a few iterations. Experimental results on CEC’2010 and CEC’2013 single-objective optimization problems with up to 1500 decision variables show that the proposed algorithm is superior over six comparison algorithms. Moreover, we also extend the proposed algorithm to multi-objective optimization problems and verified its competitiveness on problems with up to 1500 decision variables. IEEE

In this paper, a novel and comprehensive signal denoising method is proposed by combining Symplectic Geometric Modal Decomposition (SGMD) and Block Thresholding denoising. The proposed approach involves a three-step process: first, the signal is decomposed into a set of Symplectic Geometric Components (SGCs) using SGMD. Subsequently, each SGC is subjected to Block-Thresholding denoising. Finally, the denoised SGCs are recombined to obtain the denoised linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal. The experimental verification demonstrates the effectiveness of the SGMD-BT method in denoising LFM signals. This novel approach offers a fresh solution for the processing and analysis of LFM signals, holding significant application potential and research importance. © 2023 IEEE.

Combining the spatial filtering (SF) technique with FDTD(2, q) method (2 and q denote the temporal differential order and spatial differential order, respectively), a novel SF-FDTD(2, q) method with more relaxed Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy (CFL) condition is proposed and used for solving 3D time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Then, the correctness of the SF-FDTD(2, q) method is validated by calculating eigenfrequencies of the 3D quantum well model. © 2023 Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).
