An ant colony optimization routing algorithm for two order pickers with congestion consideration

This paper develops a routing method to control the picker congestion that challenges the traditional assumption regarding the narrow-aisle order picking system. We proposes a new routing algorithm based on Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) for two order pickers (A-TOP) with congestion consideration. Using two extended dedicated heuristics with congestion consideration as reference group, a comprehensive simulation study is conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of A-TOP. The simulation proves that A-TOP achieves the shortest total picking time in most instances and performs well in dealing with the congestion. The impacts of warehouse layout, order size, and pick:walk-time ratio on A-TOP and system performance are analyzed as well. A-TOP can adapt to different warehouse configurations, meanwhile, it can be easily extended to the situation with more than two order pickers.

A time-based nested partition （NP） approach is proposed to solve resource-constrained project scheduling problem （RCPSP） in this paper. In iteration, one activity is selected as the base point of which the finish time interval calculated by CPM is divided into two parts to form two subregions on the basis of the promising region of the last iteration. Then sampling is taken in both subregions and the surrounding region to determine the promising region and aggregate the other as the surrounding region of this iteration so that whether the backtracking or the moving operation being performed is determined. Double justification is also performed in iteration to improve the results. The results of numerical tests on PSPLIB show the effectiveness and time-efficient of the proposed NP method.

A new nonlinear control strategy incorporated the dynamic inversion method with wavelet neural networks is presented for the nonlinear coupling system of Bank-to-Turn(BTT) missile in reentry phase. The basic control law is designed by using the dynamic inversion feedback linearization method, and the online learning wavelet neural network is used to compensate the inversion error due to aerodynamic parameter errors, modeling imprecise and external disturbance in view of the time-frequency localization properties of wavelet transform. Weights adjusting laws are derived according to Lyapunov stability theory, which can guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the whole system. Furthermore, robust stability of the closed-loop system under this tracking law is proved. Finally, the six degree-of-freedom(6DOF) simulation results have shown that the attitude angles can track the anticipant command precisely under the circumstances of existing external disturbance and in the presence of parameter uncertainty. It means that the dependence on model by dynamic inversion method is reduced and the robustness of control system is enhanced by using wavelet neural network(WNN) to reconstruct inversion error on-line. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical engineering.

The ECT sensor based on electrical permittivity measurements is presented which may be applied to security application for contactless detection of flammable and explosive liquid. The structure, geometry and size of ECT sensor are discussed in this paper; two types of capacitance sensor are designed and compared. COMSOL simulation software is used to evaluate the performance of designed sensor. An impedance analyzer is used to measure the capacitance between each electrode pair. Results analysis is provided, the feasibility of ECT sensor using in liquid testing for security application is proved at the conclusion part.

In order to analyze the eddy current caused by the excitation signal and its influence on the secondary field response, the general analytical expressions of eddy current density for low frequency electromagnetic in cross-well is deduced. Based on the axially symmetric time harmonic electromagnetic theory, this expression is established by Helmholtz equation of electric field in radial non-uniform formation. Eddy current density distribution of infinite homogeneous conductive medium and layered media in cross-well show that the metal casing has a strong absorption to electromagnetic signal and the frequency of the emission signal has important influence on its capability of penetrating the casing. The character of EMF (electromotive force)-frequency curves for the non magnetic high resistance formation demonstrates that the low frequency electromagnetic signal can penetrate the casing perfectly, and it also shows that response signal has the highest resolution to the formation resistivity while excited by the frequency about 200Hz. ©2010 IEEE.

This paper provided a mathematic model for Three Gorges-Gezhou dam co-scheduling problems, based on full analysis of Three Gorges-Gezhou dam's actual needs, to maximize the total throughput of Three Gorges-Gezhou dam, to maximize the utilization ratio of shiplock area and minimize the total navigation shiplock waiting time under eight constraint conditions. Then a scheduling algorithm based on GA was pointed out. The three gorges south lock, Gezhou dam lock, the three gorges north lock were optimization searched separately in the GA algorithm. The scheduling results of the three gorges south lock were taken as the origin of the whole plan period, and also were taken as the basis of the Gezhou dam scheduling together with the ship applied information. The scheduling results of Gezhou dam were regarded as the basis of the three gorges north lock scheduling together with the ship applied information, so repeated, until the optimal scheduling results were given, or the most iterative step was reached. The applied result shows that making a period plan of two dam five lock only needs 2 minutes, and the plan is quite effective according to practical application.

Based on electromagnetic field theory, this paper derived the general expressions of time domain responses for cross-well electromagnetic logging. The emission waveform may be chosen as bipolar square wave by calculating the spectrums of three types of transmit signals. And the effects of thickness, magnetic permeability and electrical conductivity of the casing on time domain electromagnetic logging responses were analyzed. The computation results show that the casing change whether thinner or thicker has an obvious effect on the time domain logging responses. The simulation results also indicate the higher the casing electrical conductivity, the lower the response signal amplitude;and the lower the magnetic permeability, the more easy the electromagnetic signals through the casing. Furthermore, the sensitivity analysis of the time domain electromagnetic responses to the formation resistivity indicates that the electromagnetic responses are fairly sensitive to the formation resistivity. This result proved the feasibility and effectiveness of cross-well time domain electromagnetic logging technology applies to the field of oil and gas exploration. © 2011 IEEE.

Interest points are local properties of an image with high informational content. In this paper, we present a new method for image retrieval based on color and distribution of interest points. Firstly, we use Harris corner detector to extract interest points. Secondly, we design a 2D histogram based on interest points to describe an image, which not only takes the local color feature into consideration, but also the space distribution information of interest points. With robustness to image rotation and translation, the 2D histogram avoids the shortcoming of losing the space distribution information in color histogram. Finally,we employ the weighted distance between two 2D histograms to discriminate the similarity between twoimages. Lots of experimental results based on a database containing 1100 images demonstrate our proposed method has good performance.

In recent years, most of the studies have shown that the generalized iterated shrinkage thresholdings (GISTs) have become the commonly used first-order optimization algorithms in sparse learning problems. The nonconvex relaxations of the \ell _{0} -norm usually achieve better performance than the convex case (e.g., \ell _{1} -norm) since the former can achieve a nearly unbiased solver. To increase the calculation efficiency, this work further provides an accelerated GIST version, that is, AGIST, through the extrapolation-based acceleration technique, which can contribute to reduce the number of iterations when solving a family of nonconvex sparse learning problems. Besides, we present the algorithmic analysis, including both local and global convergence guarantees, as well as other intermediate results for the GIST and AGIST, denoted as (A)GIST, by virtue of the Kurdyka-Lojasiewica (KL) property and some milder assumptions. Numerical experiments on both synthetic data and real-world databases can demonstrate that the convergence results of objective function accord to the theoretical properties and nonconvex sparse learning methods can achieve superior performance over some convex ones. © 2013 IEEE.

It was found that the traditional Mean Shift algorithm segmentation often produces the connection channel, several categories between clusters can not be completely separated from the problem, an improved classification of the structured mean shift segmentation algorithm iterations to obtain the initial cluster in center on the basis of different bandwidth matrix stepwise clustering, resulting in a different class collection of cluster centers, and the establishment of a vested in the tree structure, ultimately through the attribution of the leaf nodes and the root node are classified in order to complete the image segmentation. Experiments show that the algorithm can better retain the image of local information, and has better applicability. © 2005 - 2012 JATIT & LLS. All rights reserved.
