In this paper, we analyze notarial requirements in the electronic commerce based on the Internet and design the notarial system to support secure transactions, which provides the notarial service for assurance of transactions between customer and merchant running shopping mall connected to the Internet. We suggest that electronic commerce should offer not only authentication service but also notarial service in order to provide secure transactions over the Internet.

Cloud computing is a generic term for delivering hosted services over the Internet. It follows a pay-as-you-go approach. Cloud computing offers numerous benefits for the enterprises, however, there are also many issues, as with any new paradigm or technology. One of the main issues relate to the security and confidentiality of customer data in terms of its location, relocation, availability and security. This paper outlines the Cloud benefits, briefly explains the delivery and deployment models and discusses in detail the issues relating to data in the Cloud. The aim is to provide some useful background information for organizations preparing to migrate to the Cloud to take advantage of this latest computing paradigm.
Cloud computing is gradually gaining popularity among businesses due to its distinct advantages over self-hosted IT infrastructures. Business Intelligence (BI) is a highly resource intensive system requiring large-sca...

In packet-switched networks, queueing of packets at the switches can result when multiple connections share the same physical link. To accommodate a large number of connections, a switch can employ link-scheduling algorithms to prioritize the transmission of the queued packets. Due to the high-speed links and small packet sizes, a hardware solution is needed for the priority queue in order to make the link schedulers effective. But for good performance, the switch should also support a large number of priority levels (P) and be able to buffer a large number of packets (N). So a hardware priority queue design must be both fast and scalable (with respect to N and P) in order to be implemented effectively. In this paper, we first compare four existing hardware priority queue architectures, and identify scalability limitations on implementing these existing architectures for large N and P. Based on our findings, we propose two new priority queue architectures, and evaluate them using simulation results from Verilog HDL and Epoch implementations.
In the past decade, Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems achieved great successes. Its fascinating characteristics, such as decentralized control, self-governance, fault tolerance and load balancing, make it the default infrast...

Personal high performance computer (PHPC) requires lower cost and high performance. The Teraflops PHPC systems with special accelerator units like GPGPU have been presented, but they have difficulties in programming, compatibility and applicability. In this paper, we present HPPPHPC, a hybrid architecture of heterogeneous processors connected by non-coherent off-chip system bus. The performance of HPP-PHPC is ensured by special processors integrated with vector units and high-efficiency interconnection between heterogeneous processors. And by the adoption of general processors and features like global physical address space and synchroniz ation semantics in hardware, HPP-PHPC is more compatible and convenient for massage passing and PGAS programming model. Also it is more applicable to most applications, including those with many execution branches. Initial results obtained from our prototype system have proved our design.

Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs) enable businesses to flexibly address their current and future needs in an agile manner. This is achieved by organizing their software assets as interoperable services, which can be flexibly, cost-effectively and timely combined to form business processes according to business requirements. A SOA approach however can also benefit Virtual Organizations (VOs), by enabling participant companies to increase their responsiveness and adaptability with regards to addressing a collaborative business opportunity. Value can also be added to the operations of such a VO with the use of Web2.0 concepts, as well as intelligent Agents to automate the processes of finding collaborating partners and negotiating the creation of VOs, based on user-defined business rules. This paper discusses the combination of concepts and their potential benefits for Virtual Organizations, based on the ongoing work of a European Union co-funded Information Society Technologies (IST) project. Although at the time of writing of this paper the practical benefits of this approach are still in the evaluation phase, this paper discusses the main ideas and the expected contributions of such an approach.
