A control circuit for active metasurface based on varactor diode is designed in this paper. By varying the reverse bias voltage on the varactor diode, the designed circuit can regulate the additional phase of the active meta-atoms. The circuit adopts a form of one master and multiple slaves, which can simultaneously control the bias voltage of 960 meta-atoms. Each slave can control up to 64 channels. The control accuracy is 0.04V. The power consumption of a single slave is 160mW. Though experiment verification, the circuit has a good effect in controlling the beam deflection of the metasurface and generating OAM beams. © 2023 Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society (ACES).

A large number of metaheuristics have been proposed and shown high performance in solving complex optimization problems. While most variation operators in existing metaheuristics are empirically designed,new operators are automatically designed in this work,which are expected to be search space independent and thus exhibit robust performance on different *** work first investigates the influence of translation invariance, scale invariance, and rotation invariance on the search behavior and performance of some representative operators. This work then deduces the generic form of translation, scale, and rotation invariant operators, and proposes a principled approach for the automated design of operators, which searches for high-performance operators based on the deduced generic form. The experimental results demonstrate that the operators generated by the proposed approach outperform state-of-the-art ones on a variety of problems with complex landscapes and up to 1000decision variables.

Due to its high degree of customization, DNA origami provides a versatile platform with which to engineer nanoscale structures and devices. Reconfigurable nanodevices driven by DNA strand displacement accomplish the task of transition between different conformations, endowing DNA origami with application values. Herein, we propose a strategy to regulate the conformation of DNA origami using the polymerase-triggered DNA strand displacement (PTSD) reaction. We design a book-shaped DNA origami structure consisting of four pages connected into a cuboid shape. The PTSD reactions initiated by different primer strands selectively remove the connecting strand, transforming the nano book into a two-page or a four-page conformation. We utilize three primer strands to remove thirty-five connecting strands and construct three conformations of the identical DNA origami, illustrating that the PTSD reaction is an effective tool for the reconfiguration of DNA origami. The statistical results of TEM images prove the effectiveness of the proposed method. Our work on the development of PTSD-driven reconfigurable nanostructure will offer a new way to create intelligent materials for advanced nanotechnology applications. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Robustness analysis of mechanical system performance generally aims to identify whether the system performs as predicted for expected parameter variations. The main objective of robust control is to keep the closed loop stable and ensure a certain level of performance, but also to reduce the sensitivity of the control structure in the presence of parametric variations and possible disturbances affecting the model of the system to be controlled. In this work, we have analyzed robustness and applied robust control to solve the problem of automatic control of a vehicle's active suspension. In order to evaluate the impact of uncertain parameters on the performance of the system under study, several simulations have been presented. © 2024 IEEE.

To meet the requirements of real-world applications, it is essential to control generations of large language models (LLMs). Prior research has tried to introduce reinforcement learning (RL) into controllable text generation while most existing methods suffer from overfitting issues (finetuning-based methods) or semantic collapse (post-processing methods). However, current RL methods are generally guided by coarse-grained (sentence/paragraph-level) feedback, which may lead to suboptimal performance owing to semantic twists or progressions within sentences. To tackle that, we propose a novel reinforcement learning algorithm named TOLE which formulates TOken-LEvel rewards for controllable text generation, and employs a "first-quantize-then-noise" paradigm to enhance the robustness of the RL algorithm. Furthermore, TOLE can be flexibly extended to multiple constraints with little computational expense. Experimental results show that our algorithm can achieve superior performance on both single-attribute and multi-attribute control tasks. The prevalence of short video platforms has spawned a lot of fake news videos, which have stronger propagation ability than textual fake news. Thus, automatically detecting fake news videos has been an important countermeasure in practice. Previous works commonly verify each news video individually with multimodal information. Nevertheless, news videos from different perspectives regarding the same event are commonly posted together, which contain complementary or contradictory information and thus can be used to evaluate each other mutually. To this end, we introduce a new and practical paradigm, i.e., cross-sample fake news video detection, and propose a novel framework, Neighbor-Enhanced fakE news video Detection (NEED), which integrates the neighborhood relationship of new videos belonging to the same event. NEED can be readily combined with existing single-sample detectors and further enhance their performances with the proposed graph aggregation (GA) and debunking rectification (DR) modules. Specifically, given the feature representations obtained from single-sample detectors, GA aggregates the neighborhood information with the dynamic graph to enrich the features of independent samples. After that, DR explicitly leverages the relationship between debunking videos and fake news videos to refute the candidate videos via textual and visual consistency. Extensive experiments on the public benchmark demonstrate that NEED greatly improves the performance of both single-modal (up to 8.34% in accuracy) and multimodal (up to 4.97% in accuracy) base detectors. Arbitrary style transfer aims to create a novel image from a content image and a style image, stylizing the content image with the style of the style image. However, recent algorithms are prone to unnatural output due to focusing on the statistical distribution of deep features and ignoring the relationship between channels in feature maps. In this paper, we devise a novel Arbitrary Neural Style Transfer Network called NCCNet, which is useful for artistic style transfer. Specifically, NCCNet creates good visual effects by fusing different layers of textures. Moreover, we design an Effective Channel Conversion Modules (ECCM) which uses a multi-channel matrix to rearrange style feature maps to the appropriate range by analyzing the relationship between channels. Then, we can obtain a covariance based on the rearranged style feature map. At the same time, we design a decoder named Self-Adaptive Decoder (SA-Decoder) that conforms to our algorithm. Moreover, we apply our algorithm to the video style transfer and get good results. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations demonstrate that NCCNet performs well in arbitrary video and image style transfer tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Superpixel segmentation is an image preprocessing technique that uses pixel blocks instead of pixels to improve the efficiency of subsequent image tasks. Existing methods are not sensitive to image texture. To solve this problem, a texture-oriented superpixel (TOS) segmentation method is proposed. Firstly, an adaptive parameter function based on pixel boundary probability is used to calculate the distance. Secondly, a gradual merging strategy is used for merging. And finally, a loop iterative framework is used to optimize the seeds. The experimental results show that TOS can effectively preserve the smaller texture information, generate seeds that are more consistent with image texture, and better detect image texture. © 2023 SPIE.
