Open world object detection aims to simulate the human process of recognizing objects in real life scenarios. It can identify categories not introduced during the training phase as unknown during the testing phase and recognize these unknowns in subsequent incremental learning. This capability is beyond the reach of traditional object detection, making it closer to real world human experiences and thus garnering significant attention from researchers. However, existing studies largely focus on generating better pseudo labels to improve the recall rate of unknown objects, which evidently neglects the intrinsic differences between objects and backgrounds. Considering important information such as the visual saliency and edge features of objects in realistic scenes, this paper proposes a novel solution called PEC, which directly extracts objects from their background to detect known and unknown objects more accurately. Comprehensive experiments on the M-OWODB benchmark demonstrate that our method outperforms other current mainstream approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

Popularity plays a significant role in the recommendation system. Traditional popularity is only defined as a static ratio or metric (e.g., a ratio of users who have rated the item and the box office of a movie) regardless of the previous trends of this ratio or metric and the attribute diversity of items. To solve this problem and reach accurate popularity, we creatively propose to extract the popularity of an item according to the Proportional Integral Differential (PID) idea. Specifically, Integral (I) integrates a physical quantity over a time window, which agrees with the fact that determining the attributes of items also requires a long-term observation. The Differential (D) emphasizes an incremental change of a physical quantity over time, which coincidentally caters to a trend. Moreover, in the Session-Based Recommendation (SBR) community, many methods extract session interests without considering the impact of popularity on interest, leading to suboptimal recommendation results. To further improve recommendation performance, we propose a novel strategy that leverages popularity to enhance the session interest (popularity-aware interest). The proposed popularity by PID is further used to construct the popularity-aware interest, which consistently improves the recommendation performance of the main models in the SBR community. For STAMP, SRGNN, GCSAN, and TAGNN, on Yoochoose1/64, the metric P@20 is relatively improved by 0.93%, 1.84%, 2.02%, and 2.53%, respectively, and MRR@20 is relatively improved by 3.74%, 1.23%, 2.72%, and 3.48%, respectively. On Movieslen-1m, the relative improvements of P@20 are 7.41%, 15.52%, 8.20%, and 20.12%, respectively, and that of MRR@20 are 2.34%, 12.41%, 20.34%, and 19.21%, respectively.

SepFE:Separable Fusion Enhanced Network for Retinal Vessel Segmentation

The accurate and automatic segmentation of retinal vessels fromfundus images is critical for the early diagnosis and prevention ofmany eye diseases,such as diabetic retinopathy(DR).Existing retinal vessel segmentation approaches based on convolutional neural networks(CNNs)have achieved remarkable ***,we extend a retinal vessel segmentation model with low complexity and high performance based on U-Net,which is one of the most popular *** view of the excellent work of depth-wise separable convolution,we introduce it to replace the standard convolutional *** complexity of the proposed model is reduced by decreasing the number of parameters and calculations required for *** ensure performance while lowering redundant parameters,we integrate the pre-trained MobileNet V2 into the ***,a feature fusion residual module(FFRM)is designed to facilitate complementary strengths by enhancing the effective fusion between adjacent levels,which alleviates extraneous clutter introduced by direct ***,we provide detailed comparisons between the proposed SepFE and U-Net in three retinal image mainstream datasets(DRIVE,STARE,and CHASEDB1).The results show that the number of SepFE parameters is only 3%of U-Net,the Flops are only 8%of U-Net,and better segmentation performance is *** superiority of SepFE is further demonstrated through comparisons with other advanced methods.

Multi-View User Preference Modeling for Personalized Text-to-Image Generation

Personalized text-to-image generation aims to synthesize images tailored to individual user preferences. Existing methods primarily generate customized content using a few reference images, which often struggle to mine user preferences from historical records, and thus fail to synthesize truly personalized content. In addition, it is difficult to directly incorporate the extracted feature of user preferences into the feature space of the generation model, since there exists a considerable gap between them. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-view personalized text-to-image generation method based on the diffusion model, named MVP-Diffusion, which learns instance- and user-level preferences from historical records and integrates them into the generation model. For instance-level user preference modeling, we employ a chain-of-thought prompting strategy to deduce preference keywords and integrate them into input prompts with the aid of a large language model. For user-level preference modeling, we construct a learnable embedding for each user to capture more comprehensive preferences by analyzing their historical records. An adaptive user preference fusion module is proposed to inject user preferences into the generation model via a set of learnable parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly enhances the personalization of the generated images compared to the other personalized text-to-image generation methods. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents a learning-based control policy design for point-to-point vehicle positioning in the urban environment via BeiDou *** navigating in urban canyons,the multipath effect is a kind of interference that causes the navigation signal to drift and thus imposes severe impacts on vehicle localization due to the reflection and diffraction of the BeiDou ***,the authors formulated the navigation control system with unknown vehicle dynamics into an optimal control-seeking problem through a linear discrete-time system,and the point-to-point localization control is modeled and handled by leveraging off-policy reinforcement learning for feedback *** proposed learning-based design guarantees optimality with prescribed performance and also stabilizes the closed-loop navigation system,without the full knowledge of the vehicle *** is seen that the proposed method can withstand the impact of the multipath effect while satisfying the prescribed convergence rate.A case study demonstrates that the proposed algorithms effectively drive the vehicle to a desired setpoint under the multipath effect introduced by actual experiments of BeiDou navigation in the urban environment.

As a crucial auxiliary technique in inertial navigation, scene matching has been widely applied in aircraft navigation and guidance. To enhance the adaptability and efficiency of scene matching algorithms in complex environments, existing approaches have gradually shifted towards heterogeneous scene matching, such as optical/ infrared scene matching based on deep learning features, with a focus on point features. However, due to the complex and diverse nonlinear distortions between optical and infrared images, the matching accuracy often fails to meet the practical requirements of navigation and positioning. In view of this problem, an EPM-Net algorithm based on edge features is proposed to improve matching performance by extracting more stable and discriminative edge point descriptors. Experimental results on infrared datasets demonstrate that this method achieves an average matching accuracy improvement of more than four times compared to traditional and existing deep learning methods. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images have a wide range of applications due to their all-weather and all-day working conditions. However, SAR images with different scenarios and imaging conditions are insufficient or even rare, which is required in specific SAR image tasks. Fortunately, SAR image simulation technology can provide ample simulated images under these conditions at a low cost, addressing the scarcity of specific real SAR data. Accurate parameters are crucial for obtaining high-quality simulated images. However, it is time-consuming and labour-intensive to adjust parameters manually, and it often fails to achieve accurate simulation parameters. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a TransCGAN-based SAR image simulation method that combines deep learning with traditional methods. By training TransCGAN, a conditional generative adversarial network (CGAN) integrated with Transformer architecture, a mapping between SAR images and simulation parameters is established. This enables the extraction of simulation parameters directly from the real SAR image, guided by the corresponding real SAR image. Ultimately, the parameters are subsequently converted into simulated SAR images via simulation software. Experimental results demonstrate that our TransCGAN-based method can effectively extract accurate simulation parameters from real SAR images, resulting in simulated images holding high similarity to real images. © 2024 IEEE.

As remote sensing technology advances and high-resolution sensors are deployed, the analysis of high-resolution remote sensing images encounters challenging issues, such as intra-class variability, and inter-class similarity, due to the unobvious appearance and complicated background. The high-resolution remote sensing images pose critical issues for precise semantic segmentation due to these fundamental issues. To this end, we propose an adaptive hierarchical aggregation network. Different from the previous approach of modeling semantic interdependencies solely within a single feature map in the channel dimension, we introduce multi-scale channel-wise feature aggregation to capture global contextual dependencies. Meanwhile, we design an adaptive detail-aware module to model long-range spatial dependencies, adaptively extracting effective details from different levels as compensation. Additionally, this module utilizes depth-wise separable convolution to selectively filter out irrelevant spatial details from lower-level feature maps. The outputs of the two modules are fused layer by layer to achieve refined feature representation, thereby generating precise pixel-level segmentation results. Our experiments are conducted on the Vaihingen dataset and the Potsdam dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm surpasses several existing state-of-the-art approaches. © 2024 IEEE.
