In this paper, we present a novel color-mood-aware technique to re-texture clothing in a photograph. An efficient classification algorithm is developed to classify clothing textures using color mood scheme. To re-texture the clothing, our approach first computes the gradient maps for the cloth region to be replaced and then calculates the texture distortion coordinates on the projected cloth region according to the gradient maps. After the user selects a target clothing texture from the classified clothing texture database, the lighting and shading effects on the original photograph is transferred using the HSV color space. Experimental results show that the proposed approach successfully re-textures the clothes in photographs while preserving the geometry and lighting features. © 2011 IEEE.

We present a novel lifelog system concept created to provide a human user with feedback on their conscious and unconscious emotional reactions and encourage the process of self-reflection by looking into an affective mirror. The emotion of the user is deduced from biometric data and enhanced by affective sound analysis and facial expression recognition of faces of the weares conversational partners. These high-level analyses also offer information about the social context of the user. All of the recorded data is processed using a novel modification of the spreading-activation theory which is used to model human-like associative thinking.

The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) presented the 2010 Fall Symposium Series on November 11-13, 2010. The eight symposia included Cognitive and Metacognitive Educational Systems, Commonsense knowledge, Complex Adaptive Systems: Resilience, Robustness, and Evolvability, Computational Models of Narrative, Dialog with Robots, Manifold Learning and Its Applications, Proactive Assistant Agents and Quantum Informatics for Cognitive, Social, and Semantic Processes. Cognitive and Metacognitive Educational Systems aimed to provide a comprehensive definition of metacognitive educational systems that is inclusive of the theoretical, architectural, and educational aspects of this field. The AAAI Commonsense knowledge Fall Symposium had the goal of bringing together the diverse elements of this community whose work benefits from or contributes to the representation of general knowledge about the world. One of the specific goals of Proactive symposium was to gather the researchers from various projects in assistant agents to share their wisdom in retrospect.

Churn management is the procedure for finding a list of potentially lost cus-tomers from existing customer data, and performing next customer retention activities. However, for service industries, such as the telecom industry, whether or not a company's churn management is effective is determined by whether or not the churn rate is lowered, rather than by whether or not a list of potentially lost customers can be found correctly. Thus, a lower churn rate depends on a useful customer retention strategy. To determine a useful customer retention strategy, mining telecom marketing information is used to extract key factors regarding whether or not marketing activities are successful. This work focuses on analyzing customer responses to various retention marketing activities to determine the most appropriate retention timing and retention methods for different customers. Finally, this study used a telecom dataset to discover optimal customer re- tention strategies for assisting telecom companies in reducing churn rates effectively.© 2011 ISSN 2185-2766.

We present a novel visual creativity tool that automatically recognizes facial expressions and tracks facial muscle movements in real time to produce sounds. The facial expression recognition module detects and tracks a face and outputs a feature vector of motions of specific locations in the face. The feature vector is used as input to a Bayesian network which classifies facial expressions into several categories (e.g., angry, disgusted, happy, etc.). The classification results are used along with the feature vector to generate a combination of sounds that change in real time depending on the person's facial expressions. We explain the artistic motivation behind the work, the basic components of our tool, and possible applications in the arts (performance, installation) and in the medical domain. Finally, we report on the experience of approximately 25 users of our system at a conference demonstration session, of 9 participants in a pilot study to assess the system's usability, and discuss our experience installing the work at an important digital arts festival (RE-NEW 2009). © 2010 ACM.

Since the medical training samples are very limited, it is difficult to construct a statistical shape model with good generalization using few samples. In this paper, we propose a novel statistical shape modeling method using 2D PCA. The 3D shape is represented as a matrix by spherical parameterization. The experiments showed that our proposed method can reconstruct statistical shape model with good generalization even using fewer samples.

In this paper, we present an unconstrained visual gaze estimation system. The proposed method extracts the visual field of view of a person looking at a target scene in order to estimate the approximate location of interest (visual gaze). The novelty of the system is the joint use of head pose and eye location information to fine tune the visual gaze estimated by the head pose only, so that the system can be used in multiple scenarios. The improvements obtained by the proposed approach are validated using the Boston University head pose dataset, on which the standard deviation of the joint visual gaze estimation improved by 61.06% horizontally and 52.23% vertically with respect to the gaze estimation obtained by the head pose only. A user study shows the potential of the proposed system. © 2010 IEEE.

A data based intelligent decision support system is proposed to solve problems of decision making of tourism management in complex environments. Firstly, the architecture of the decision support system integrated with several intelligence technologies is proposed, and some key technologies of implementation, such as 3S and decomposition of large decision table are also introduced. Then, some data analysis methods used in this decision support system are presented, which include tourism information categories, space time pattern of tourism status, tourism planning and navigation, early warning of tourism status and safety incidents. Finally, several applications of this system are also given. ©2010 IEEE.

Business intelligence is a new methodology to maximize the benefits for healthcare organization Business intelligence provides an integrated view of data that can be used to monitor, key performance indicators, identify hidden patterns in diagnosis and identify variations in cost factors. intelligent techniques provide an effective computational methods and robust environment for business intelligence in the healthcare domain. From the technical point of view, healthcare based business intelligence systems, are complex to build, maintain and face the knowledge-acquisition difficulty. Efficiency of such systems is determined by the efficiency of the intelligent techniques and methodologies. This paper discusses AI based techniques and approaches which are used in such systems namely; expert systems, data mining and grid computing.
