Air-cored linear synchronous motors, known for their high precision and transmission efficiency, are increasingly used in the high-precision manufacturing industry. However, motor temperature rise leads to thermal deformation of machine tools, introducing unpredictable errors. To mitigate this issue, this study proposes an ultra-thin vapor chamber-based thermal management strategy. The vapor chamber is positioned between the motor windings and the cooling base. A series of thermal tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. Compared to liquid-cooling and air-cooling methods, the maximum motor temperature is reduced by 37.2 °C and 32.7 °C, respectively, under rated power, while the maximum thrust is increased by 31.7 % and 42.1 %, respectively, at the same temperature limits.
