Randomized Latent Factor Model for High-dimensional and Sparse Matrices from Industrial Applications

Latent factor(LF) models are highly effective in extracting useful knowledge from High-Dimensional and Sparse(HiDS) matrices which are commonly seen in various industrial applications. An LF model usually adopts iterative optimizers,which may consume many iterations to achieve a local optima,resulting in considerable time cost. Hence, determining how to accelerate the training process for LF models has become a significant issue. To address this, this work proposes a randomized latent factor(RLF) model. It incorporates the principle of randomized learning techniques from neural networks into the LF analysis of HiDS matrices, thereby greatly alleviating computational burden. It also extends a standard learning process for randomized neural networks in context of LF analysis to make the resulting model represent an HiDS matrix *** results on three HiDS matrices from industrial applications demonstrate that compared with state-of-the-art LF models, RLF is able to achieve significantly higher computational efficiency and comparable prediction accuracy for missing data.I provides an important alternative approach to LF analysis of HiDS matrices, which is especially desired for industrial applications demanding highly efficient models.

Due to its open-source nature, Android operating system has been the main target of attackers to exploit. Malware creators always perform different code obfuscations on their apps to hide malicious activities. Features extracted from these obfuscated samples through program analysis contain many useless and disguised features, which leads to many false negatives. To address the issue, in this paper, we demonstrate that obfuscation-resilient malware family analysis can be achieved through contrastive learning. The key insight behind our analysis is that contrastive learning can be used to reduce the difference introduced by obfuscation while amplifying the difference between malware and other types of malware. Based on the proposed analysis, we design a system that can achieve robust and interpretable classification of Android malware. To achieve robust classification, we perform contrastive learning on malware samples to learn an encoder that can automatically extract robust features from malware samples. To achieve interpretable classification, we transform the function call graph of a sample into an image by centrality analysis. Then the corresponding heatmaps can be obtained by visualization techniques. These heatmaps can help users understand why the malware is classified as this family. We implement IFDroid and perform extensive evaluations on two datasets. Experimental results show that IFDroid is superior to state-of-the-art Android malware familial classification systems. Moreover, IFDroid is capable of maintaining a 98.4% F1 on classifying 69,421 obfuscated malware samples. © 2021, CC0.

In Vision-and-Language Navigation (VLN) task, an agent is asked to navigate inside 3D indoor environments following given instructions. Cross-modal alignment is one of the most critical challenges in VLN because the predicted trajectory needs to match the given instruction accurately. In this paper, we address the cross-modal alignment challenge from the perspective of fine-grain. Firstly, to alleviate weak cross-modal alignment supervision from coarse-grained data, we introduce a human-annotated fine-grained VLN dataset, namely Landmark-RxR. Secondly, to further enhance local cross-modal alignment under fine-grained supervision, we investigate the focal-oriented rewards with soft and hard forms, by focusing on the critical points sampled from fine-grained Landmark-RxR. Moreover, to fully evaluate the navigation process, we also propose a re-initialization mechanism that makes metrics insensitive to difficult points, which can cause the agent to deviate from the correct trajectories. Experimental results show that our agent has superior navigation performance on Landmark-RxR, en-RxR and R2R.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has achieved significant advancements in technology and research with the development over several decades, and is widely used in many areas including computing vision, natural language processing, time-series analysis, speech synthesis, etc. During the age of deep learning, especially with the arise of Large Language Models, a large majority of researchers’ attention is paid on pursuing new state-of-the-art (SOTA) results, resulting in ever increasing of model size and computational complexity. The needs for high computing power brings higher carbon emission and undermines research fairness by preventing small or medium-sized research institutions and companies with limited funding in participating in research. To tackle the challenges of computing resources and environmental impact of AI, Green computing has become a hot research topic. In this survey, we give a systematic overview of the technologies used in Green computing. We propose the framework of Green computing and devide it into four key components: (1) Measures of Greenness, (2) Energy-Efficient AI, (3) Energy-Efficient computing Systems and (4) AI Use Cases for Sustainability. For each components, we discuss the research progress made and the commonly used techniques to optimize the AI efficiency. We conclude that this new research direction has the potential to address the conflicts between resource constraints and AI development. We encourage more researchers to put attention on this direction and make AI more environmental friendly. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the matrix factorization(MF)based collaborative filtering recommendation method,the most critical part is to deal with the interaction between the features of users and *** mainstream approach is to use the inner product for MF to describe the user-item ***,as a shallow model,MF has its limitations in describing the relationship between *** addition,when the size of the data is large,the performance of MF is often poor due to data sparsity and *** paper presents a model called PIDC,short for potential interaction data clustering based deep learning ***,it uses classifiers to filter and cluster recommended items to solve the problem of sparse training ***,it combines MF and multi-layer perceptron(MLP)to optimize the prediction effect,and the limitation of inner product on the model expression ability is *** proposed model PIDC is tested on two *** experimental results show that compared with the existing benchmark algorithm,the model improved the recommendation effect.

The beneficial properties of the blockchain, anonymity, decentralization, and traceability, boost the rapid development of the study on electronic voting schemes. However, with the increase in the transaction fee price, the electronic voting scheme based on blockchain has been gradually unable to meet the demand of voter scale and voting information privacy simultaneously. To solve this problem, we propose a tallying algorithm based on noninteractive zero-knowledge proof (NIZK) in this paper, which uses Groth16 zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) to hide voters’s identity information (ID) and ballot information (BI). In addition to providing privacy-preserving guarantees, our solution only requires low complexity on the chain so that it can be applied to large-scale voting scenarios. At the end of this paper, we also conducted experiments on Ethereum, and the result shows that our work meets privacy-preserving, low complexity, and can be applied to large-scale elections © 2022. Jointly Optimizing the Energy and Time for Multi-UAV 3-D Coverage of Terrestrial Regions

Multi-rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been widely employed in various sensing tasks, e.g., environmental monitoring and disaster rescuing, many of which often require full coverage of terrestrial regions by UAVs. Efforts have been devoted to minimizing one of two objectives, i.e., energy consumptions and time costs of UAVs fulfilling such tasks, whereas it is still challenging to jointly optimize both objectives due to their complicated interdependent relationship. Therefore, this paper deals with the tasks of sensing terrestrial regions with multiple UAVs, and focuses on the three-dimensional (3-D) coverage problem by formulating a multi-objective optimization problem of jointly minimizing both objectives. Specifically, in order to optimize energy consumption effectively, an advanced closed-form energy consumption model for multi-rotor UAVs is developed based on a rigorous theoretical analysis by introducing the influences of torque and acceleration, which are often ignored by existing heuristic models. Moreover, considering the NP-hardness of the problem, an innovative swarm intelligence optimization framework is established by leveraging a multitasking learning pattern to exploit cross-task knowledge transfer and adopting an improved multi-objective salp swarm algorithm. Therein, two novel operators, i.e., a variable characteristic-guided hybrid solution initialization operator and a large-scale search-space-oriented multi-mechanism solution update operator, are designed to handle continuous, discrete and even high-dimensional variables involved. Real-world experiments validate the proposed energy model due to the reduction of power consumption estimation error by up to 59% compared to baselines, and besides, extensive simulations demonstrate that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms the benchmarks in terms of both energy consumptions and time costs. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

A number of machine learning (ML) approaches for drug discovery have been available that rely only on sequential (1D) and planar (2D) information without effectively using the 3D information for generating features of drugs. However, 3D information of small molecules can reflect relative position of atoms more directly, which affects molecular properties. In this work, we present a new deep learning model called Drug3D-DTI for drug-target interaction prediction. Drug3D-DTI takes advantage of molecular spatial information, i.e., atom proximity in three-dimensional (3D) structures. We comprehensively evaluated the performance of Drug3D-DTI on two datasets with two tasks of regression and classification. In particular, we compared Drug3D-DTI with several existing methods including the two cutting-edge methods for compound-protein interaction prediction. From the experimental results, Drug3D-DTI clearly outperformed other methods under all settings. Further, this performance improvement was validated by ablation experiments and a case study. QoS-aware based web service recommendation is one of the crucial solutions to help users find high-quality web services. To accurately predict the QoS values of candidate services, it is usually required to collect historical QoS data of users (QoS data for short). If these collected QoS data are improperly processed, QoS data privacy may be threatened. However, how to accurately predict the QoS values of candidate services while protecting QoS data privacy has not been well studied. In response to the situation, we propose a hybrid web service recommendation mechanism, which is divided into three parts. In the first part, the QoS data privacy preservation algorithm, which called DVO, is proposed based on keeping the cosine similarity of QoS data unchanged, that is, to realize the confusion of QoS data while ensuring the availability of QoS data remains unchanged. In the second part, a hybrid matrix factorization model based on location information and service features, which called LCLMF, is proposed to improve the accuracy of QoS values prediction. According to DVO and LCLMF, the DVO + LCLMF is designed in the third part, which can accurately predict QoS values while protecting QoS data privacy. The experimental results show that DVO + LCLMF can accurately predict the QoS values of candidate services on the basis of attaining QoS data privacy protection. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Semi-supervised learning has made significant strides in the medical domain since it alleviates the heavy burden of collecting abundant pixel-wise annotated data for semantic segmentation tasks. Existing semi-supervised approaches enhance the ability to extract features from unlabeled data with prior knowledge obtained from limited labeled data. However, due to the scarcity of labeled data, the features extracted by the models are limited in supervised learning, and the quality of predictions for unlabeled data also cannot be guaranteed. Both will impede consistency training. To this end, we proposed a novel uncertainty-aware scheme to make models learn regions purposefully. Specifically, we employ Monte Carlo Sampling as an estimation method to attain an uncertainty map, which can serve as a weight for losses to force the models to focus on the valuable region according to the characteristics of supervised learning and unsupervised learning. Simultaneously, in the backward process, we joint unsupervised and supervised losses to accelerate the convergence of the network via enhancing the gradient flow between different tasks. Quantitatively, we conduct extensive experiments on three challenging medical datasets. Experimental results show desirable improvements to state-of-the-art counterparts.
