There are many difficulties in growing tomatoes, such as erratic weather patterns, variable yields, and short shelf lives. Tomatoes are a staple food that is grown all throughout the world, particularly in climate-friendly areas such as Morocco. These areas are not free from the difficulties that present major obstacles for farmers, though. Modern agricultural techniques are increasingly using cutting-edge technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled smart greenhouses, to address these problems. In order to improve tomato output, this study presents an enhanced smart greenhouse model that incorporates the zoning principle. The method provides optimal plant growth and resource efficiency by separating the greenhouse into various zones, each tailored for specific growth stages and environmental circumstances. Precision farming and sustainable practices are made possible by the suggested systems real-time monitoring and control, which integrates sensors, actuators, and data analytics. The automatic irrigation system of the intelligent greenhouse prototype is additionally set up to offer the best possible support for the growth of tomato plants. The functionality and efficacy of the prototype are investigated through extensive laboratory testing and experimentation, providing insight into its potential influence on agricultural practices and practical practicality. The greenhouse that has been created with the help of IoT capabilities and the zoning concept has proven to be an effective instrument in assisting farmers in their attempts to grow tomatoes in an efficient and sustainable manner. Our comprehensive testing yielded data that demonstrate the zoning principle-integrated IoT-enabled smart greenhouse greatly improves tomato quality and production. Nowadays, the software industry has known significant growth, while the end-users have become very demanding. In this sense, many approaches have appeared among them we have the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach, which is initiative of the Object Management Group (OMG), considering the model as the central entity in the software systems development process. Our contribution in this paper is to suggest the idea of a new disciplined methodology based on the MDA approach to generate the whole of E-business Information System (IS) models from the business value model automatically. Currently, in the field of the software engineering industry, end-users have become extremely requiring;consequently, this industry knew a critical evolution. In this vein, the model generation becomes an awakening and an essential step for many approaches among them we cite the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) approach. The Object Management Group (OMG), the founder of the MDA approach, proposes three different abstraction levels;which are the higher level, average level, and lower level. Until now, most research deal with the transformation at the average and the lowest MDA levels, while ignoring the higher level, which precisely contains the requirements’ models. Therefore, our aim in this paper is to construct a sound and more consistent higher MDA level for e-business information systems by automatically generating a higher level of functional requirements model from the Business Value model. Our source Business Value model is represented by the E3value model, whereas the UML Use Case diagram expresses the generated model. How Hard is Takeover in DPoS Blockchains? Understanding the security of Coin-based Voting Governance

Delegated-Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) blockchains, such as EOSIO, Steem and TRON, are governed by a committee of block producers elected via a coin-based voting system. We recently witnessed the first de facto blockchain takeover that happened between Steem and TRON. Within one hour of this incident, TRON founder took over the entire Steem committee, forcing the original Steem community to leave the blockchain that they maintained for years. This is a historical event in the evolution of blockchains and Web 3.0. Despite its significant disruptive impact, little is known about how vulnerable DPoS blockchains are in general to takeovers and the ways in which we can improve their resistance to takeovers. In this paper, we demonstrate that the resistance of a DPoS blockchain to takeovers is governed by both the theoretical design and the actual use of its underlying coin-based voting governance system. When voters actively cooperate to resist potential takeovers, our theoretical analysis reveals that the current active resistance of DPoS blockchains is far below the theoretical upper bound. However in practice, voter preferences could be significantly different. This paper presents the first large-scale empirical study of the passive takeover resistance of EOSIO, Steem and TRON. Our study identifies the diversity in voter preferences and characterizes the impact of this diversity on takeover resistance. Through both theoretical and empirical analyses, our study provides novel insights into the security of coin-based voting governance and suggests potential ways to improve the takeover resistance of any blockchain that implements this governance model. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Data-free knowledge distillation aims to learn a compact student network from a pre-trained large teacher network without using the original training data of the teacher network. Existing collection-based and generation-based methods train student networks by collecting massive real examples and generating synthetic examples, respectively. However, they inevitably become weak in practical scenarios due to the difficulties in gathering or emulating sufficient real-world data. To solve this problem, we propose a novel method called Hybrid Data-Free Distillation (HiDFD), which leverages only a small amount of collected data as well as generates sufficient examples for training student networks. Our HiDFD comprises two primary modules, i.e., the teacher-guided generation and student distillation. The teacher-guided generation module guides a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) by the teacher network to produce high-quality synthetic examples from very few real-world collected examples. Specifically, we design a feature integration mechanism to prevent the GAN from overfitting and facilitate the reliable representation learning from the teacher network. Meanwhile, we drive a category frequency smoothing technique via the teacher network to balance the generative training of each category. In the student distillation module, we explore a data inflation strategy to properly utilize a blend of real and synthetic data to train the student network via a classifier-sharing-based feature alignment technique. Intensive experiments across multiple benchmarks demonstrate that our HiDFD can achieve state-of-the-art performance using 120 times less collected data than existing methods. Since radio-frequency signals are affected signifi-cantly by multipath fading, the localization accuracy they offer cannot meet the sixth generations (6G) demanding specifications. On the other hand, visible light positioning (VLP) has emerged as a low cost alternative that takes into account the highly deterministic channel characteristics of visible light communications to provide cm-level accuracy provided that the investigated spaces are adequately covered by LEDs. However, imperfect channel state information and modeling can lead to positioning errors. In this paper, localization accuracy is quantified in terms of channel estimation errors via low complexity lateration algorithm. The channel estimation errors can be caused by a variety of issues and the provided analysis is general so that it can be easily applied to a plethora of applications. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations validate the proposed method and offer valuable insights for the design and performance bounds of VLP systems.

Although the biostatistical scientific literature publishes new methods at a very high rate, many of these developments are not trustworthy enough to be adopted by the scientific community. We propose a framework to think about how a piece of methodological work contributes to the evidence base for a method. Similarly to the well-known phases of clinical research in drug development, we define four phases of methodological research. These four phases cover (I) providing logical reasoning and proofs, (II) providing empirical evidence, first in a narrow target setting, then (III) in an extended range of settings and for various outcomes, accompanied by appropriate application examples, and (IV) investigations that establish a method as sufficiently well-understood to know when it is preferred over others and when it is not. We provide basic definitions of the four phases but acknowledge that more work is needed to facilitate unambiguous classification of studies into phases. Methodological developments that have undergone all four proposed phases are still rare, but we give two examples with references. Hydroxyapatite (HA) coatings are commonly used on titanium alloy substrates for orthopedic and dental implants because of their excellent osteoconductivity and biocompatibility. The disparity in the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) between the coating and substrate can result in the formation of cracks in the HA coatings during the coating process. This study examined the effect of titania (TiO2) nanoparticle additions in HA coatings to enhance their properties and prevent cracking. Using electrophoretic deposition (EPD), HA and HA-TiO2 composite coatings were applied to laser powder bed fused Ti6Al4V substrates. Optimal EPD conditions of 45 volts and 120 s were identified to produce consistent, crack-free coatings. Increasing the TiO2 nanoparticle concentration (≥50 wt.%) decreased the coatings' CTE, mitigating cooling-induced cracking. The microstructural analysis confirmed the uniform distribution of HA and TiO2 in the coatings. X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy data revealed that the HA structure remained intact even with the addition of TiO2. Higher TiO2 reduced the average surface roughness, with the HA-40%TiO2 coating exhibiting the lowest roughness (approximately 50 nm). Electrochemical tests corroborated the surface roughness findings. Incorporating TiO2 into the HA coatings decreased the thermal expansion coefficient, reducing tensile stresses. © 2024, The Authors. Authors have developed a method of control over one of the main technological processes of manufacturing foil solar panels, i.e., burning tracks in the layers of semiconductor material and insulation. The proposed method is based on neural networks trained directly on the control object. This eliminates the laborious process of identifying the parameters of the control object mathematical model and the impact of its error on the training outcomes. To clarify the conditions for optimizing a certain law for generating the control action by neural networks various laws of control have been simulated. It's established that laws of control can be changed according to the current situation of the control object. Simulation outcomes proofed that the most efficient is the system with the PI- controller. © 2020 IEEE.
