In intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), incorporating pedestrians and vehicles in-the-loop is crucial for developing realistic and safe traffic management solutions. However, there is falls short of simulating complex real-world ITS scenarios, primarily due to the lack of a digital twin implementation framework for characterizing interactions between pedestrians and vehicles at different locations in different traffic environments. In this article, we propose a surveillance video assisted federated digital twin (SV-FDT) framework to empower ITSs with pedestrians and vehicles in-the-loop. Specifically, SVFDT builds comprehensive pedestrian-vehicle interaction models by leveraging multi-source traffic surveillance videos. Its architecture consists of three layers: (i) the end layer, which collects traffic surveillance videos from multiple sources;(ii) the edge layer, responsible for semantic segmentation-based visual understanding, twin agent-based interaction modeling, and local digital twin system (LDTS) creation in local regions;and (iii) the cloud layer, which integrates LDTSs across different regions to construct a global DT model in realtime. We analyze key design requirements and challenges and present core guidelines for SVFDT’s system implementation. A testbed evaluation demonstrates its effectiveness in optimizing traffic management. Comparisons with traditional terminal-server frameworks highlight SV-FDT’s advantages in mirroring delays, recognition accuracy, and subjective evaluation. Very recently,intensive discussions and studies on Industry 5.0 have sprung up and caused the attention of researchers,entrepreneurs,and policymakers from various sectors around the ***,there is no consensus on why and what is Industry 5.0 *** this paper,we define Industry 5.0from its philosophical and historical origin and evolution,emphasize its new thinking on virtual-real duality and human-machine interaction,and introduce its new theory and technology based on parallel intelligence(PI),artificial societies,computational experiments,and parallel execution(the ACP method),and cyber-physical-social systems(CPSS).Case studies and applications of Industry 5.0 over the last decade have been briefly summarized and analyzed with suggestions for its future *** believe that Industry 5.0 of virtual-real interactive parallel industries has great potentials and is critical for building smart *** are outlined to ensure a roadmap that would lead to a smooth transition from CPS-based Industry 4.0 to CPSS-based Industry 5.0 for a better world which is Safe in physical spaces,S ecure in cyberspaces,Sustainable in ecology,Sensitive in individual privacy and rights,Service for all,and Smartness of all.

A solar-powered jumping-gliding Martian aircraft is proposed as a new tool for Mars exploration, designed especially to perform long-term wide-range detection. A completely new way of continues detection performed by aircraft is created. A preliminary design of the jumping-gliding Martian aircraft is carried out while its flight performance is analyzed afterwards. The conceptual design of a large-aspect ratio foldable wing with a thin fuselage and a jumping device is put forward. The solar energy model, aerodynamic model and weight mode are all built. The energy balance models are established for the periods of detecting mission that the aircraft lands on the ground for harvesting solar energy and flies in the sky. The gliding performance of this aircraft is particularly discussed here.

DDPS: Dynamic Differential Pricing-Based Edge Offloading System With Energy Harvesting Devices

Mobile edge computing (MEC) mitigates the energy and computation burdens on mobile users (MUs) by offloading tasks to the network edge. To optimize MEC server utilization through effective resource allocation, a well-designed pricing strategy is indispensable. In this paper, we propose a dynamic differential pricing scheme (DDPS) for an edge offloading scenario with energy harvesting devices, which determines prices based on computing resource usage to enhance edge server (ES) utilization. First, an offloading decision algorithm is proposed to balance harvested and consumed energy, determining whether and how much data to offload. Second, a Stackelberg game-based differential pricing algorithm is proposed to optimize computing resource allocation for MUs and reallocate surplus resources to delay-sensitive devices. Extensive simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed DDPS scheme. Specifically, in comparison to the existing best-performing pricing scheme, for different task arrival rates, DDPS can achieve a 5.3% decrease in average execution delay, a 1.7% increase in ES utility (Userver, which represents the payment from MUs minus penalties for discarded tasks), and a 2.1% increase in the average ratio of service for MUs. In addition, DDPS also improves 2.8% Userver on average with different ES computation capacities. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

This paper presents a thorough exploration of Cryptoprocessors in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT). The focus is on hardware support, cryptographic processors, and energy-efficient designs to fortify the security of IoT ecosystems. Leveraging insights from recent research papers, the survey examines various aspects of Cryptoprocessor implementations, ranging from lightweight countermeasures to advanced lattice-based post-quantum cryptography. The proposed paper amalgamates findings from studies on hardware architectures, energy-efficient designs, and innovative cryptographic algorithms to provide a holistic overview of state-of-the-art advancements in IoT security. The synthesis of this survey’s exploration aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on securing IoT devices through robust hardware-backed cryptographic solutions.

Geolocation of electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a critical mission for uninterrupted satellite op-eration. One of the useful methods for this purpose is based on the analysis of the EMI Doppler signatures. Because of high-speed motions and complicated orbits of satellites, the Doppler frequencies are time-varying with higher-order phase trajectories. In this paper, we segment the Doppler signals into periodical short time periods and, by modeling the Doppler signature in each short time period as a linear frequency modulated (LFM) waveform, perform Doppler signature analysis using the short-time Fourier transform (STFT). Such approach is robust to EMI when its waveform is an unknown M-ary phase shift keying (MPSK) signal. Furthermore, noticing that such approach suffers from frequent outliers at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) scenarios, we develop an outlier suppression scheme to achieve enhanced Doppler estimation.

Recent research endeavors have been dedicated to innovative wireless hardware designs and connection concepts aimed at fulfilling the ambitious objectives of 6th Generation (6G) wireless communications. The inclusion of Terahertz (THz) technology in modern infrastructure holds immense potential for shaping 6G networks, offering amplified throughput, extended coverage, heightened security, and improved positioning while reducing power consumption. The demand for efficient control over THz waves has grown alongside the advancements in wireless domain. Reconfigurable intelligent Surfaces (RIS) have garnered a lot of attention as a means of regulating electromagnetic waves. In this study, we investigate the utilization of a RIS employing graphene-based materials to control THz waves, with a specific focus on enhancing reflection performance and enabling beam steering. Our proposed RIS design entails a periodic array of graphene stacked over a grounded substrate.

Microgrids are a promising technology to achieve the sustainability goals set by the UN to fight against climate change, create affordable and clean energy, sustainable cities and communities, and economic growth by creating a reliable, resilient, green power infrastructure. There are limitations to the benefits that microgrids can provide. To overcome the limitations and bolster the benefits of individual microgrids, they can be interconnected, creating a network of microgrids (NoMs). NoMs have many benefits that individual microgrids cannot accomplish, such as participating in power interchange between connected microgrids and the utility grid. This will increase reliability and resiliency and create economic benefits for the participants of NoMs. Challenges exist in NoMs, including data analysis, communication, and cyber-security to operations and management of the NoMs. This paper will go over the benefits that NoMs can provide and the challenges currently being researched in academia.

The emergence of electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft makes cheap, quiet and reliable short-range flights possible. As a manned aircraft, eVTOL's occupant protection capability is critical and its crashworthiness must be improved via optimization of energy absorption design for structures. This study aims to evaluate the crashworthiness of composite components and the entire eVTOL structure within the design space via the building-block approach. A variety of designs for the skid landing gear, energy absorber, structures in the cockpit and the combination of them were estimated by using the numerical method. The results show a tremendous reduction in occupant injury risk with the optimization of the skid landing gear, energy absorber and the entire eVTOL structure. This work provides a preliminary optimization design and evaluation methodology of crashworthiness for an eVTOL.

Bi-AM-RRT*: A Fast and Efficient Sampling-Based Motion Planning Algorithm in Dynamic Environments

The efficiency of sampling-based motion planning brings wide application in autonomous mobile robots. The conventional rapidly exploring random tree (RRT) algorithm and its variants have gained significant successes, but there are still challenges for the optimal motion planning of mobile robots in dynamic environments. In this paper, based on Bidirectional RRT and the use of an assisting metric (AM), we propose a novel motion planning algorithm, namely Bi-AM-RRT*. Different from the existing RRT-based methods, the AM is introduced in this paper to optimize the performance of robot motion planning in dynamic environments with obstacles. On this basis, the bidirectional search sampling strategy is employed to reduce the search time. Further, we present a new rewiring method to shorten path lengths. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed Bi-AM-RRT* are proved through comparative experiments in different environments. Experimental results show that the Bi-AM-RRT* algorithm can achieve better performance in terms of path length and search time, and always finds near-optimal paths with the shortest search time when the diffusion metric is used as the AM.
