Smart farming with outdoor monitoring systems is critical to address food shortages and sustainability *** systems facilitate informed decisions that enhance efficiency in broader environmental *** outdoor systems equipped with energy harvesters and self-powered sensors often struggle with fluctuating energy sources,low durability under harsh conditions,non-transparent or non-biocompatible materials,and complex ***,a multifunctional hydrogel is developed,which can fulfill all the above requirements and build selfsustainable outdoor monitoring systems solely by *** can serve as a stable energy harvester that continuously generates direct current output with an average power density of 1.9 W m^(-3)for nearly 60 days of operation in normal environments(24℃,60%RH),with an energy density of around 1.36×10^(7)J m^(-3).It also shows good self-recoverability in severe environments(45℃,30%RH)in nearly 40 days of continuous ***,this hydrogel enables noninvasive and self-powered monitoring of leaf relative water content,providing critical data on evaluating plant health,previously obtainable only through invasive or high-power consumption *** potential extends to acting as other self-powered environmental *** multifunctional hydrogel enables self-sustainable outdoor systems with scalable and low-cost production,paving the way for future agriculture.

Recent work of the one-dimensional q-LMS algorithm give insight that the Quantum Calculus based gradient called the q-gradient is capable of improving the convergence behavior in contrast to the standard LMS algorithm. The reason for this is the fact that the q-derivative takes larger steps in minimizing a cost function as it evaluates the secant in contrast to the tangent of the cost function. Motivated by this, we propose a two-dimensional version of the q-LMS algorithm. More precisely, we employ Quantum Calculus based q-gradient in steepest descent optimization of mean-square-error (MSE) cost function in 2D adaptive filtering scenario to obtain two-dimensional q-LMS (2D q-LMS) algorithm. A thorough analytical investigation of the proposed 2D q-LMS algorithm in both mean and mean-square sense is provided. Both the transient and steady-state convergence behaviours are examined. Consequently, excess MSE (EMSE) learning curve and its steady-state expression are evaluated in closed form. Simulation results are presented for the application of noise cancelation in images to show the superiority of the proposed 2D q-LMS algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

Short-term load forecasting tasks utilize a plethora of weather sequences in order to study meaningful features that describe complex relationships between environmental parameters and the variable of load as well as the occurrence of impactful events, reinforcing the predictive power of estimators. It is evident that the inclusion of those additional features increases the input dimensions and decreases the overall explain ability of forecasting models since not all of the extracted features are equally compatible with the assumptions of the regressors, resulting in models where the justification of predictive potency, the connection between the variance of the target variable and the variance of predictors as well as the explanation of the computational flow are made increasingly difficult due to ambiguity. Therefore, this research work studies the representativeness of weather variables and examines the explain ability of interpretable short-term load forecasting structures that utilize environmental sequences towards the selection of important feature subsets that maximize the explained variance of load time series as well as the seasonal, trend and residual load components during training. This project considers linear regression and prominent tree-based estimators coupled with model-dependent feature importance frameworks utilizing game theoretic, permutative and impurity-based approaches for the derivation of optimal feature sets and feature set combinations in terms of explained variance scores. Additionally, two structural approaches of explainable feature set generation from the joint feature importance scores through the utilization of hierarchical and maj ority inclusion are compared and the main observations from each stage of this analysis are discussed. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper considers the problem of approximating the infinite-horizon value function of the discrete-time switched LQR *** particular,the authors propose a new value iteration method to generate a sequence of monotonically decreasing functions that converges exponentially to the value *** method facilitates us to use coarse approximations resulting from faster but less accurate algorithms for further value iteration,and thus,the proposed approach is capable of achieving a better approximation for a given computation time compared with the existing *** numerical examples are presented in this paper to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This study proposes an adaptive nonsingular integral dynamic terminal sliding mode tracker/synchronizer for disturbed nonlinear systems along with its usage in safe communication systems. The convergence of the closed-loop structure under unknown uncertainty and disturbances is guaranteed via Lyapunov analysis. Furthermore, a parameter-tuning method is planned to approximate the upper bound of uncertainty and disturbance terms, since this latter is typically unknown in practice. The proposed approach is used to design a digital secure transmission scheme according to the chaotic systems. The effectiveness of the suggested approach is validated using computer simulations on a benchmark example of chaotic system. The obtained outcomes clearly confirm the ability of the planned control approach enables to attain the desired tracking/synchronizing performance despite the disturbances. Additionally, when implemented to the data encryption of a communication system, the proposed control and secure communication techniques enabled the complete and secure retrieval of the original digital sequences. © The Author(s) 2022.

Transformer-based visual technologies have witnessed remarkable progress in recent years, and person re-identification (ReID) is one of the active research areas that adopts transformers to improve the performance. However, a major challenge of applying transformers to ReID is the high computational cost, which hinders the real-time deployment of such methods. To address this issue, this paper proposes two simple yet effective techniques to reduce the computation of transformers for ReID. The first technique is to eliminate the invalid patches that do not contain any person information, thereby reducing the number of tokens fed into the transformer. Considering that computational complexity is quadratic with respect to input tokens, the second technique partitions the image into multiple windows, applies separate transformers to each window, and merges class tokens from each window, which can reduce the complexity of the self-attention mechanism. By combining these two techniques, our proposed method reduces the SOTA baseline model by 12.2% FLOPs, while slightly improving the rank-1 accuracy and only sacrificing 1.1% mAP on DukeMTMC-ReID dataset.

In this paper, the attack detection problem is investigated for a class of closed-loop systems subjected to unknownbutbounded noises in the presence of stealthy attacks. The measurement outputs from the sensors are quantized before transmission.A specific type of perfect stealthy attack, which meets certain rather stringent conditions, is taken into account. Such attacks could be injected by adversaries into both the sensor-toestimator and controller-to-actuator channels, with the aim of disrupting the normal data flow. For the purpose of defending against these perfect stealthy attacks, a novel scheme based on watermarks is developed. This scheme includes the injection of watermarks(applied to data prior to quantization) and the recovery of data(implemented before the data reaches the estimator).The watermark-based scheme is designed to be both timevarying and hidden from adversaries through incorporating a time-varying and bounded watermark signal. Subsequently, a watermark-based attack detection strategy is proposed which thoroughly considers the characteristics of perfect stealthy attacks,thereby ensuring that an alarm is activated upon the occurrence of such attacks. An example is provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed mechanism for detecting attacks.
