Support vector data description (SVDD) has become a very attractive kernel method due to its good results in many novelty detection *** SVDD involves solving a constrained convex quadratic programming,which requires large memory and enormous amounts of training time for large-scale data *** this paper,we analyze the possible changes of support vector set after new samples are added to training set according to the relationship between the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions of SVDD and the distribution of the training *** on the analysis result,a novel algorithm for SVDD incremental learning is *** this algorithm,the useless sample is discarded and useful information in training samples is *** results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2011 ACADEMY PUBLISHER.

In network environments,before meaningful interactions can begin,trust may need to be established between two interactive entities in which an entity may ask the other to provide some information involving ***,privacy protection and trust establishment become important in network *** order to protect privacy while facilitating effective interactions,we propose a trust-based privacy protection *** main contributions in this paper are as follows:(1)We introduce a novel concept of k-sensitive privacy as a measure to assess the potential threat of inferring privacy;(2)According to trust and k-sensitive privacy evaluation,our proposed method can choose appropriate interaction patterns with lower degree of inferring privacy threat;(3)By considering interaction patterns for privacy protection,our proposed method can overcome the shortcomings of some current privacy protection methods which may result in low interaction success *** results show that our method can achieve effective interactions with less privacy loss.

With the proliferation of electronic modes of communication (e.g., e-mails, short messages), a group of people in an enterprise can form several distinct Communication Interaction Networks, or CINs for short. A CIN is essentially a graph representation of who talks to whom among a group of individuals. In this paper, we conduct an empirical study of two modern enterprises and focus on three main questions: (Q1) how CINs from the two enterprises look, (Q2) how employees use the different available communication modes within an enterprise, and (Q3) how much information we can extract regarding the roles of their participants. We address these questions using empirical CINs from the Enron Corporation and a communication provider, using information from the exchange of e-mails, phone-calls, and short messages (SMS). For Q1, we reveal the following key structural properties that are shared by all the CINs in our study: they have high edge density, high clustering coefficient, and close to zero assortativity coefficient. For Q2, we observe that employees have differences in how they use the various communication modes. This suggests that different CINs capture different behavioral properties within an enterprise. For Q3, we propose HumanRank, a method of ranking individuals based on their importance (e.g., CEOs having higher rank than ordinary employees) using only the interactions between them. Next, using HumanRank, we introduce an unsupervised and parameter-free algorithm that identifies hierarchies by separating managers from ordinary employees. Our algorithm achieves above 70% accuracy and outperforms the state-of-the-art [1]. © 2011 IEEE.

Exchange protocols are an important theoretic basis to make secure electronic commerce and electronic business transactions possible, in which the fairness is a crucial property. To ensure and verify the property, a specific model is proposed, based on the extensive game with imperfect information. Fairness is built in the protocol game and the corresponding game tree. To verify the property, a tree analysis method is offered, and a linear time algorithm is given. As a case study, some flaws of ASW protocol are found. © 2011 IEEE.

The Cayley-Bacharach Theorem for Continuous Piecewise Algebraic Curves over Cross-cut Triangulations

A piecewise algebraic curve is a curve determined by the zero set of a bivariate spline function. In this paper, we propose the Cayley-Bacharach theorem for continuous piecewise algebraic curves over cross-cut triangulations. We show that, if two continuous piecewise algebraic curves of degrees m and n respectively meet at ranT distinct points over a cross-cut triangulation, where T denotes the number of cells of the triangulation, then any continuous piecewise algebraic curve of degree m ＋ n - 2 containing all but one point of them also contains the last point.

Sensitivity based linear learning method (SBLLM) has recently been used as predictive tool due to its unique characteristics and performance, particularly its high stability and consistency during predictions. However, the generalization capability of SBLLM is sometimes limited depending on the nature of the dataset, particularly on whether uncertainty is present in the dataset or not. In order to reduce the effects of uncertainties in SBLLM prediction and improve its generalization ability, this paper proposes a hybrid system through the unique combination of type-2 fuzzy logic systems (type-2 FLS) and SBLLM;thereafter the hybrid system was used to model PVT properties of crude oil systems. In the proposed hybrid, the type-2 FLS is used to handle uncertainties in reservoir data so that the final output from the type-2 FLS is then passed to the SBLLM for training and then final prediction using testing dataset follows. Comparative studies have been carried out to compare the performance of the proposed T2-SBLLM hybrid system with each of the constituent type-2 FLS and SBLLM. Empirical results from simulation show that the proposed T2-SBLLM hybrid model greatly improved upon the performance of SBLLM. © 2011 IEEE.

Spike sorting is the essential step in analyzing recording spike signals for studying information processing mechanisms within the nervous system. Overlapping is one of the most serious problems in the spike sorting for multi-channel recordings. In this paper, a modified radial basis function (RBF) network is proposed to decompose the overlapping signals and separate spikes within the same RBF network. A modified radial basis function based on the Gaussian function is employed in the method to improve the accuracy of overlap decomposition. In addition, the improved constructing algorithm reduces the calculation cost by taking advantage of the symmetry of the RBF network. The performance of the presented method is tested at various signal-to-noise ratio levels based on simulated data coming from the University of Leicester and Wave-clus software. Experiment results show that our method successfully solves the fully overlapping problem and has higher accuracy comparing with the Gaussian function. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This paper proposes a reinforcement learning based tag recommendation algorithm to deal with the data sparseness that affects the performance stability of collaborative filtering algorithms. Our algorithm integrates user tags into traditional collaborative filtering algorithms and attaching importance to user interest shift in the process of user interest learning process. Empirical Cases of comparing with traditional collaborative filtering algorithms indicate that our recommend algorithm exhibits better performance competition. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

In recent years more and more cities are planning to construct crime preventing systems in order to reduce the loss caused by risks. There are many kinds of crime preventing systems with different variety and price in the market so far. It is the problem that each decision-maker faces jointly that how to select a crime preventing system for a city which would be a perfect fit. From the stand point of decision-makers, this paper proposed an investment decision-making model for the construction of crime preventing systems. This model measures the quality of a crime prevention system through expected monetary values of the economic loss caused by risks. This article also introduced two decision-making methods, which were optimistic rule and pessimistic rule. Finally this paper proved the model reasonable through an actual application. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, the relative position parameters of the target spacecraft are obtained by using the vision measurement and the target maneuver positions are calculated through the isochronous interpolation method. Furthermore, new switch control laws under constant thrust are designed for active collision avoidance maneuver of the chaser along a specified trajectory. The switch control laws are obtained based on the acceleration sequences and the working times of thrusters in three axes which can be respectively computed by the time series analysis method. The perturbations and fuel consumptions are addressed during the computation of the working times. The simulation results show that the constant thrust maneuver can effectively guarantee the chaser maneuvering along the specified trajectory. © 2011 IFAC.
