For solving problems in a large-scale distributed Web environment, we propose the distributed β-PSML (problem solver markup language). The distributed β-PSML is an extension of the β-PSML that we have proposed before for complex adaptive, distributed problem solving, and can be easily used for automatic reasoning on the Web. By incorporating global information sources from the Semantic Web and social networks with locally operational knowledge-data bases in an enterprise portal together for decision-making and e-business intelligence, the reason of a distributed β-PSML can be implemented. The experimental results show that our considerations are valid by combining global and local information sources and our preliminary solution works well on the semantic Web.

This paper gives contribution to the construction of an image mosaic by pasting together a sequence of photographs taken by a regular digital camera from the same position but in different directions. In order to find the best match between two overlapping images, a fuzzy-genetic based algorithm is presented. A translation vector with a minimal difference between the common picture parts has to be found. The difference is defined using the fuzzyfied contours of each images. The search of the optimal translation is considered as a minimization process. This paper proposes a method that uses genetic algorithms to find the minimum point corresponding to the optimal translation. Using the fuzzy based comparison of the two images yields a fast fitness function, while the implementation of the proposed method in a genetic hardware has a low and variable computational cost. The precision of the method is inverse-proportional with the computational time, which makes it ideal to be used in real time systems.

Peculiarity rules are a new type of interesting rules which can be discovered by searching the relevance among peculiar data. A main task of mining peculiarity rules is the identification of peculiarity. Traditional methods of finding peculiar data are attribute-based approaches. This paper extends peculiarity oriented mining to relational peculiarity oriented mining. Peculiar data are identified on record level, and peculiar rules are mined and explained in a relational mining framework. The results from preliminary experiments show that relational peculiarity oriented mining is very effective.

The context of a statement or assertion can be critical to a useful understanding of its meaning. In huge knowledge bases such as the CYC project, capturing context explicitly encounters significant problems. Research at the intelligent Agent Lab at The University of Melbourne has been investigating lightweight approaches to incorporating context in the construction of knowledge-based information agents. The prototypical example of a successful agent built in the lab is SportsFinder. SportsFinder extracts sporting match results from a large variety of web sites without any formal knowledge representation. This is a task for which understanding the context of knowledge on the web pages is critical, as the individual elements that make u a page of sports results are very ambiguous without consideration of the surrounding information. This paper advocates incorporating context via a task specification, without resort to general purpose knowledge techniques.

As e-commerce developing rapidly, it is becoming a research focus about how to capture or find customer's behavior patterns and realize commerce intelligence by use of Web mining technology. Recommendation system in electronic commerce is one of the successful applications that are based on such mechanism. We present a new framework in recommendation system by finding customer model from business data. This framework formalizes the recommending process as knowledge representation of the customer shopping information and uncertainty knowledge inference process. In our approach, we firstly build a customer model based on Bayesian network by learning from customer shopping history data, then we present a recommendation algorithm based on probability inference in combination with the last shopping action of the customer, which can effectively and in real time generate a recommendation set of commodity.
