This paper presents an innovative approach to DevOps security education, addressing the dynamic landscape of cybersecurity threats. We propose a student-centered learning methodology by developing comprehensive hands-on learning modules. Specifically, we introduce labware modules designed to automate static security analysis, empowering learners to identify known vulnerabilities efficiently. These modules offer a structured learning experience with pre-lab, hands-on, and post-lab sections, guiding students through DevOps concepts and security challenges. In this paper, we introduce hands-on learning modules that familiarize students with recognizing known security flaws through the application of Git Hooks. Through prac-tical exercises with real-world code examples containing security flaws, students gain proficiency in detecting vulnerabilities using relevant tools. Initial evaluations conducted across educational institutions indicate that these hands-on modules foster student interest in software security and cybersecurity and equip them with practical skills to address DevOps security vulnerabilities.

Off-road autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs) work in unstructured environments with varied elevation and deformable ground, where vehicle-terrain interactions are more complex resulting in unpredictable dynamics behavior. Current sensor-based hazards/obstacle identification methods mainly focus on geometric hazards/obstacles with explicit geometry, which might be adequate for vehicles in on-road conditions. However, in the off-road environment, vehicle-terrain interactions could introduce non-geometric hazards that cannot be detected by current geometric hazards-oriented sensing techniques, e.g. vehicle stuck in mud. To enable AGVs to traverse the target terrain and meet the goal while avoiding non-geometric hazards, this work proposes a motion planning method integrated with coupled vehicle-terrain dynamics response. Specifically, terramechanics-based modeling and simulation (M&S) is utilized to characterize vehicle-terrain interactions. Based on the dynamics response, a reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm with a specialized reward function is used to navigate the AGV to find the goal with high mobility and safety. We demonstrate the proposed method with two case studies, 1) high mobility is the foremost concern with less safety requirement, and 2) both high mobility and safety are required. The results show that the proposed motion planning method is effective for navigating the AGV in off-road terrains. © 2024 IEEE.

A Cyclic Small Phase Theorem

This paper introduces a brand-new phase definition called the segmental phase for multi-input multi-output linear time-invariant systems. The underpinning of the definition lies in the matrix segmental phase which, as its name implies, is graphically based on the smallest circular segment covering the matrix normalized numerical range in the unit disk. The matrix segmental phase has the crucial product eigen-phase bound, which makes itself stand out from several existing phase notions in the literature. The proposed bound paves the way for stability analysis of a cyclic feedback system consisting of multiple subsystems. A cyclic small phase theorem is then established as our main result, which requires the loop system phase to lie between −π and π. The proposed theorem complements a cyclic version of the celebrated small gain theorem. In addition, a generalization of the proposed theorem is made via the use of angular scaling techniques for reducing conservatism. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Towards High-resolution 3D Anomaly Detection via Group-Level Feature Contrastive Learning

High-resolution point clouds (HRPCD) anomaly detection (AD) plays a critical role in precision machining and high-end equipment manufacturing. Despite considerable 3D-AD methods that have been proposed recently, they still cannot meet the requirements of the HRPCD-AD task. There are several challenges: i) It is difficult to directly capture HRPCD information due to large amounts of points at the sample level;ii) The advanced transformer-based methods usually obtain anisotropic features, leading to degradation of the representation;iii) The proportion of abnormal areas is very small, which makes it difficult to characterize. To address these challenges, we propose a novel group-level feature-based network, called Group3AD, which has a significantly efficient representation ability. First, we design an Intercluster Uniformity Network (IUN) to present the mapping of different groups in the feature space as several clusters, and obtain a more uniform distribution between clusters representing different parts of the point clouds in the feature space. Then, an Intracluster Alignment Network (IAN) is designed to encourage groups within the cluster to be distributed tightly in the feature space. In addition, we propose an Adaptive Group-Center Selection (AGCS) based on geometric information to improve the pixel density of potential anomalous regions during inference. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of our proposed Group3AD, which surpasses Reg3D-AD by the margin of 5% in terms of object-level AUROC on Real3DAD. Enhancing Visual Reasoning with LLM-Powered Knowledge Graphs for Visual Question Localized-Answering in Robotic Surgery

Expert surgeons often have heavy workloads and cannot promptly respond to queries from medical students and junior doctors about surgical procedures. Thus, research on Visual Question Localized-Answering in Surgery (Surgical-VQLA) is essential to assist medical students and junior doctors in understanding surgical scenarios. Surgical-VQLA aims to generate accurate answers and locate relevant areas in the surgical scene, requiring models to identify and understand surgical instruments, operative organs, and procedures. A key issue is the model's ability to accurately distinguish surgical instruments. Current Surgical-VQLA models rely primarily on sparse textual information, limiting their visual reasoning capabilities. To address this issue, we propose a framework called Enhancing Visual Reasoning with LLM-Powered Knowledge Graphs (EnVR-LPKG) for the Surgical-VQLA task. This framework enhances the model's understanding of the surgical scenario by utilizing knowledge graphs of surgical instruments constructed by the Large Language Model (LLM). Specifically, we design a Fine-grained Knowledge Extractor (FKE) to extract the most relevant information from knowledge graphs and perform contrastive learning with the extracted knowledge graphs and local image. Furthermore, we design a Multi-attention-based Surgical Instrument Enhancer (MSIE) module, which employs knowledge graphs to obtain an enhanced representation of the corresponding surgical instrument in the global scene. Through the MSIE module, the model can learn how to fuse visual features with knowledge graph text features, thereby strengthening the understanding of surgical instruments and further improving visual reasoning capabilities. Extensive experimental results on the EndoVis-17-VQLA and EndoVis-18-VQLA datasets demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. We will release our code for future research. © 2013 IEEE.

With growing concerns about the unwanted bias or discrimination in machine learning, a number of fairness-aware machine learning algorithms have been developed to mitigate bias in the prediction. Because the objectives of accuracy and fairness are antagonistic, it is hard to balance the trade-off between them. Recently, Multi-objective Evolutionary Learning (MOEL) framework has been proposed to train a set of Pareto models with the consideration of accuracy and fairness simultaneously. However, this framework prefers to train more accurate models rather than fairer models due to the lack of gradient in terms of fairness. In this paper, MOEL is enhanced through introducing Adversarial Learning (AL). The MOEL-AL framework aims to maximize a set of predictors' ability to predict true labels and minimize the ability of an adversarial network to predict the sensitive attributes from the predictors' output. Specifically, the adversarial network can be regarded as a proxy of the undifferentiable fairness metrics, so it is possible to propagate gradients in terms of both accuracy and fairness for the predictors during the back-propagation process. Besides, the adversarial strength for different predictors is adjusted dynamically according to their fairness metric. Compared with the state-of-the-art methods, experimental studies on seven well-known datasets show that our method can provide a set of fairer Pareto models with little drop on accuracy.

Landmark recognition stands as a prominent classification challenge within the domain of vision and perception, involving the identification and localization of landmarks in images. However, existing landmark recognition methods often fall short in delivering satisfactory performance. A critical issue lies in the lack of simultaneous exploration of local, regional, and global modeling. Intuitively, the local details, regional features, and global structure within an image, especially of a building, significantly contribute to landmark recognition. To address this issue, we propose a novel approach, termed Hierarchical Context Modeling Network (HCMNet), for landmark recognition. In our methodology, we introduce a Hierarchical Context Modeling Block (HCMB) designed with a triplet-branch structure to model image context in a hierarchical manner. These branches consist of the local branch, which leverages a convolutional layer to capture local details, the regional branch focused on extracting regional features through large-kernel asymmetrical convolutional layers, and the global branch aims at encompassing the broader context by incorporating channel attention. To enhance the modeling capacity, we assemble multiple HCMBs into the HCMNet, creating a hierarchical structure. Comprehensive experiments validate the efficacy of the proposed HCMNet for landmark recognition, showcasing its superior performance compared to current methods. The proposed hierarchical context modeling approach proves instrumental in capturing the intricate features essential for accurate landmark recognition.

MIntRec: A New Dataset for Multimodal Intent Recognition

Multimodal intent recognition is a significant task for understanding human language in real-world multimodal scenes. Most existing intent recognition methods have limitations in leveraging the multimodal information due to the restrictions of the benchmark datasets with only text information. This paper introduces a novel dataset for multimodal intent recognition (MIntRec) to address this issue. It formulates coarse-grained and fine-grained intent taxonomies based on the data collected from the TV series Superstore. The dataset consists of 2,224 high-quality samples with text, video, and audio modalities and has multimodal annotations among twenty intent categories. Furthermore, we provide annotated bounding boxes of speakers in each video segment and achieve an automatic process for speaker annotation. MIntRec is helpful for researchers to mine relationships between different modalities to enhance the capability of intent recognition. We extract features from each modality and model cross-modal interactions by adapting three powerful multimodal fusion methods to build baselines. Extensive experiments show that employing the non-verbal modalities achieves substantial improvements compared with the text-only modality, demonstrating the effectiveness of using multimodal information for intent recognition. The gap between the best-performing methods and humans indicates the challenge and importance of this task for the community. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications is an enabling technology to transmit control signaling or payload data for UAVs through cellular networks. Due to the line-of-sight dominant air-to-ground channels, efficient interference mitigation is crucial to UAV communications, while the conventional fixed-position antenna (FPA) arrays have limited degrees of freedom to suppress the interference between the UAV and its non-associated co-channel base stations (BSs). To address this challenge, we propose in this letter a new approach by utilizing the six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) arrays to enhance the interference mitigation for the UAV. Specifically, we propose an efficient block coordinate descent algorithm to iteratively optimize the antenna position vector, array rotation vector, receive beamforming vector, and associated BS of the UAV to maximize its signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. Numerical results show that the proposed 6DMA enhanced cellular-connected UAV communication can significantly outperform that with the traditional FPA arrays and other benchmark schemes in terms of interference mitigation. © 2025 IEEE. Getting dense, uniform, time-series point cloud data is critical for effective rendering. However, due to the limited computational power of edge devices, existing methods cannot achieve real-time results, which affects the visual quality of the consumer experience. To effectively address this issue, this paper presents a self-supervised adversarial upsampling method for point cloud video streams called SPR-GAN. In the generator, we design the Temporal Iterative Graph module to learn local features for each frame and captures long-range spatial information using three iterations of graph convolution operations. Then the Contextual Temporal Fusion module is developed to merge information between different frames, synthesizing temporal information and enriching the dynamic feature representation of the point cloud. Meanwhile, in the discriminator, we introduce the Efficient Shape module. Through dynamic graph convolution operations and stacked learning, it significantly improves the resolution efficiency of global shape information in point clouds. The final experiments show that the proposed method exhibits high practicality and superiority. The model achieves a good result on both the D-FAUST and DeformingThing4D-Animals datasets.
