Tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery via semi-supervised learning

Identifying cancer-related differentially expressed genes provides significant information for diagnosing tumors, predicting prognoses, and effective treatments. Recently, deep learning methods have been used to perform gene differential expression analysis using microarray-based high-throughput gene profiling and have achieved good results. In this study, we proposed a new robust multiple-datasetsbased semi-supervised learning model, MSSL, to perform tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery across multiple tumor types and multiple datasets, which addressed the following long-lasting obstacles:(1) the data volume of the existing single dataset is not enough to fully exert the advantages of deep learning;(2) a large number of datasets from different research institutions cannot be effectively used due to inconsistent internal variances and low quality;(3) relatively uncommon cancers have limited effects on deep learning methods. In our article, we applied MSSL to The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and the Gene Expression Comprehensive Database(GEO) pan-cancer normalized-level3 RNA-seq data and got 97.6% final classification accuracy, which had a significant performance leap compared with previous approaches. Finally, we got the ranking of the importance of the corresponding genes for each cancer type based on classification results and validated that the top genes selected in this way were biologically meaningful for corresponding tumors and some of them had been used as biomarkers, which showed the efficacy of our method.

For monitoring the paste concentration, existing techniques, such as ultrasonic concentration meters and neutron meters, suffer from radiation hazards and low precision in high concentrations. This paper proposes a novel non-contact concentration measurement method based on deep learning. With the dataset collected by preparing the paste with different concentrations and taking photographs from the paste surface, a convolutional neural network is trained to extract the features from images and predict the concentration. The experiments indicate that the measurement accuracy is close to 88.79 % for the manual stirring paste dataset and 91.42 % for the automatic stirring paste dataset, which are sufficient in industrial applications. As a substitution of traditional concentration measurement instruments, the proposed vision-based concentration measurement method is non-contact and its accuracy is sufficient in industrial applications. © 2024 IEEE.

In the original publication, the author has found few errors in the figures 2, 4, 11 and 12 which significantly impact both the paper's quality and the reputation of the journal. These issues undermine the clarity of the methodology and the novelty of the research. 1. Each column represents a different case in the experiment, corresponding to the number of UAVs in both the obstacle-free and obstacle areas. However, in Fig. 2, the first row contains identical subfigures across all columns, while the subfigures in the remaining rows are identical to each other The incorrect Fig. 2 appears as below: (Figure presented.) This paper presents an innovative method for enhancing security improve the security of grayscale images by integrating hybrid cryptographic techniques, specifically taking advantage of the sine map and a dual application of the logistic map. The synergy of these chaotic systems reinforces the encryption process, the sinusoidal card generating pseudo-random sequences essential for the generation of cryptographic keys, and the double logistic card adding complexity and unpredictability. Hybridization exploits their complementary characteristics, contributing to the overall robustness of the encryptions system. The theoretical foundations of the sinusoidal map and the double logistic map are examined, highlighting their suitability for cryptographic applications. A comparative examination with established techniques showcases the effectiveness of the proposed method, both in terms of security and computational efficiency, experimental results showing resilience against various attacks, providing information for practical integration into image security frameworks. © 2024 IEEE.

High-resolution multispectral (HRMS) images combine spatial and spectral information originating from panchromatic (PAN) and reduced-resolution multispectral (LRMS) images. Pansharpening performs well and is widely used to obtain HRMS images. However, most pansharpening approaches determine the ratio of PAN and LRMS images through direct interpolation, which may introduce artifacts and distort the color of the fused results. To address this issue, an unsupervised progressive pansharpening framework, MSBANet, is proposed, which adopts a multistage fusion strategy. Each stage contains an attention interactive extraction module (AIEM) and a multiscale bilateral fusion module (MBFM). The AIEM extracts spatial and spectral features from input images and captures the correlations between features. The MBFM can efficiently integrate information from the AIEM and improve MSBANet context awareness. We design a hybrid loss function that enhances the ability of the fusion network to store spectral and texture details. In qualitative and quantitative experimental studies on four datasets, MSBANet outperformed state-of-the-art pansharpening techniques. The code will be released. © 2024 IEEE.

This article proposes a VGG network with histogram of oriented gradient(HOG) feature fusion(HOG-VGG) for polarization synthetic aperture radar(PolSAR) image terrain ***-Net has a strong ability of deep feature extraction,which can fully extract the global deep features of different terrains in PolSAR images,so it is widely used in PolSAR terrain ***,VGG-Net ignores the local edge & shape features,resulting in incomplete feature representation of the PolSAR terrains,as a consequence,the terrain classification accuracy is not *** fact,edge and shape features play an important role in PolSAR terrain *** solve this problem,a new VGG network with HOG feature fusion was specifically proposed for high-precision PolSAR terrain ***-VGG extracts both the global deep semantic features and the local edge & shape features of the PolSAR terrains,so the terrain feature representation completeness is greatly ***,HOG-VGG optimally fuses the global deep features and the local edge & shape features to achieve the best classification *** superiority of HOG-VGG is verified on the Flevoland,San Francisco and Oberpfaffenhofen *** show that the proposed HOG-VGG achieves much better PolSAR terrain classification performance,with overall accuracies of 97.54%,94.63%,and 96.07%,respectively.

Automatic Speaker Identification (ASI) is so crucial for security. Current ASI systems perform well in quiet and clean surroundings. However, in noisy situations, the robustness of an ASI system against additive noise and interference is a crucial factor. An investigation of the impact of interference on ASI system performance is presented in this paper, which introduces algorithms for achieving high ASI system performance. The objective is to resist the interference of various forms. This paper presents two models for the ASI task in the presence of interference. The first one depends on Normalized Pitch Frequency (NPF) and Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) as extracted features and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) as a classifier. In this model, we investigate the utilization of a Discrete Transform (DT), such as Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Discrete Sine Transform (DST), to increase the robustness of extracted features against different types of degradation through exploiting the sub-band decomposition characteristics of DWT and the energy compaction property of DCT and DST. This is achieved by extracting features directly from contaminated speech signals in addition to features extracted from discrete transformed signals to create hybrid feature vectors. The enhancement techniques, such as Spectral Subtraction (SS), Winer Filter, and adaptive Wiener filter, are used in a preprocessing stage to eliminate the effect of the interference on the ASI system. In the second model, we investigate the utilization of Deep Learning (DL) based on a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with speech signal spectrograms and their Radon transforms to increase the robustness of the ASI system against interference effects. Technology has influenced the hospitality industry, and the Internet of Things (IoT) has become a focus for sustainability, revenue growth, and problem-solving. This systematic review examined the opportunities and challenges of implementing IoT technology for a sustainable hospitality. Through a thorough analysis of 28 studies, we found that IoT technology has great potential to address sustainability issues in the hospitality industry. However, there are still significant challenges that need to be addressed for the successful implementation of IoT technology in the hospitality industry. Overall, this study highlights the potential of IoT technology to revolutionize the hospitality industry and make it more sustainable. Further research is needed to address the challenges of IoT implementation in the hospitality industry and to evaluate the effectiveness of IoT technology in achieving sustainability goals. © 2023 IEEE.

Evolution of Web API Cooperation Network via Exploring Community Structure and Popularity

With the growing popularity of the Internet, Web applications have become increasingly essential in our daily lives. Web application programming interfaces (Web APIs) play a crucial role in facilitating interaction between applications. However, most Web service platforms are suffering from the imbalance of Web services now, many services of good quality but low popularity are difficult to be invoked even once and do not create direct connections with the users. Some graph-based Web service recommendation methods also often present a long-tailed distribution of recommended Web services due to limited Mashup-API invocation relationships. To relieve this problem and promote service recommendation, in this article, we propose a community structure and popularity-based approach by constructing an evolving cooperation network for Web APIs. We leverage the Louvain algorithm in community detection to assign community structure to each Web API and consider both the popularity and community structure in constructing the network. By optimizing the Barabαsi-Albert (BA) evolving network model, we demonstrate that our approach outperforms the BA, Bianconi-Barabαsi (BB), and popularity-similarity optimization (PSO) models in Web service clustering. Based on our proposed evolutionary network model for the evolutionary extension of API cooperation network and used for downstream Web service recommendation tasks, the experimental results also show that our recommended approach outperforms some other baseline models for Web service recommendation. © 2020 IEEE.
