This article investigates the collision-free control problem for multi-agent systems. For such multi-agent systems, it is the typical situation where conventional methods using either the usual centralized model predictive control (MPC), or even the distributed counterpart, would suffer from substantial difficulty in balancing optimality and computational efficiency. Additionally, the nonconvex characteristics that invariably arise in such collision-free control and optimization problems render it difficult to effectively derive a reliable solution (and also to thoroughly analyze the associated convergence properties). To overcome these challenging issues, this work establishes a suitably novel parallel computation framework through an innovative mathematical problem formulation;and then with this framework and formulation, a parallel algorithm based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is presented to solve the subproblems arising from the resulting parallel structure. Furthermore, an efficient and intuitive initialization procedure is developed to accelerate the optimization process, and the optimum is thus determined with significantly improved computational efficiency. As supported by rigorous proofs, the convergence of the proposed ADMM iterations for this nonconvex optimization problem is analyzed and discussed in detail. Finally, a simulation with a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) serves as an illustrative example here to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach. Also, the simulation results verify significant improvements in accuracy and computational efficiency compared to other baselines, including primal quadratic mixed integer programming (PQ-MIP), nonconvex quadratic mixed integer programming (NC-MIP), and nonconvex quadratically constrained quadratic programming (NC-QCQP). © 2023 IEEE. Density Functional Theory Study of Surface Stability and Phase Diagram of Orthorhombic CsPbI3

CsPbI3 has been recognized as a promising candidate for optoelectronic device applications. To further improve the efficiency of the devices, it is imperative to better understand the surface properties of CsPbI3, which affect charge carrier transport and defect formation properties. In this study, we perform density functional theory calculations to explore the stability of the (001), (110), and (100) surfaces of orthorhombic CsPbI3, considering different stoichiometries and surface reconstructions. Our results show that, under the chemical potentials confined by the thermodynamically stable region of bulk CsPbI3, the CsI-terminated surfaces of (001) and (110) and the stoichiometric surface of (100) are stable. Among these three surfaces, the CsI-terminated (110) surface has the lowest surface energy and no mid-gap states, which benefits the transport properties of the material. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

Heart Disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. It alarmingly rises at a quick rate, making early heart disease prediction crucial for effective prevention and timely intervention. Heart disease diagnosis is a difficult process that requires technical skills and accuracy to complete. With improvements in technology, computing has lent its voice to simplify the diagnosis of various health problems. Machine learning uses past or existing history to predict future results. Various machine learning techniques have been developed over the years and used in predicting heart diseases with various levels of performance. Identifying the best-suited machine learning technique to use for prediction purposes can be a challenging task. This research work analyses the performance of seven (7) machine learning techniques, comprising AdaBoost Algorithm, KNN, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes Classifier, Random Forest, SVM, and XGBoost. The heart disease dataset was downloaded from the UCI repository and analysed using Python programming language in the Jupyter Notebook environment. A comparative analysis of the seven (7) techniques was performed based on Accuracy, Precision, and Recall. From the results obtained, KNN, Random Forest, and XGBoost showed superior performance over the others with an accuracy of 100%, AdaBoost Algorithm followed with an accuracy of 92.2%, SVM followed with an accuracy of 91.71%, Naïve Bayes Classifier followed with an accuracy of 88.29% while Logistic Regression has the least accuracy of 86.34%. Sign language has importance rule to deal with communication process especially with impairments hearing people. Sign language detection also attract lot of researchers to join the challenge of research to detect and recognize the sign language in the field of computer science. Hence, there is still no any standard approach and method to recognize the meaning in every pose of sign language. This research proposed a mechanism to detect Alphabet American Sign Language by utilizing Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) process. The CNN approach was chosen based on the ability and capability to recognize image. In this research, MNIST dataset is used for traning and testing process. The proposed CNN architecture produced 97% of accuracy that outperform the previous research using the same dataset which made this architecture promising. © 2022 IEEE.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are widely used in various applications, from inspection and surveillance to transportation and delivery. Navigating UAVs in complex 3D environments is a challenging task that requires robust and efficient decision-making algorithms. This paper presents a novel approach to UAV navigation in 3D environments using a Curriculum-based Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) approach. The proposed method utilizes a deep neural network to model the UAV's decision-making process and to learn a mapping from the state space to the action space. The learning process is guided by a reinforcement signal that reflects the performance of the UAV in terms of reaching its target while avoiding obstacles and with energy efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed method has a positive trade off when compared to the baseline algorithm. The proposed method was able to perform well in environments with a state space size of 22 millions, allowing the usage in big environments or in maps with high resolution. The results demonstrate the potential of DRL for enabling UAVs to operate effectively in complex environments. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-robot systems can provide substantial increase in efficiency and/or flexibility in different scenarios. Applications in various settings have been studied in the literature, such as disaster management, surveillance, object transportation as well as search-and-rescue. A particular case that can highly benefit from the employment of multiple agents is the logistics in a warehouse scenario. This work proposes an multi-agent Q-learning based algorithm with curriculum learning and transfer learning to perform the path planning process. With progressively more complex stages of training as well as knowledge transfer from one stage to another, the algorithm is capable of achieve high success rates. In order to validate the proposed method, simulations were done to compare it to other combinations of the used techniques, as well as using Q-learning only. Scalability tests were also performed. The proposed method achieved up to 94% success rate after training. © 2023 IEEE.

Home security is a crucial aspect that requires careful attention, particularly when it comes to addressing theft concerns. Hence, implementing smart door technology equipped with facial recognition holds promising potential for enhancing home security. This study aims to develop a more secure and regulated home entry system by leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology and Machine Learning computer Vision for facial recognition. The system integrates IoT devices, such as cameras and automatic doors, wherein facial image data is captured by the camera and processed using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm to identify individuals. Once an individual is recognized, the system grants access to the home through an automated door. By relying on facial features, the system effectively restricts unauthorized access and safeguards homes against theft risks. Therefore, the advancement of a safer and more controlled home entry system utilizing IoT technology and Machine Learning computer Vision holds tremendous benefits for homeowners. © 2023 IEEE.
