This article shows the main results of an empirical research about the relation between emotions and urban lighting scenarios. The focus is on the emotions experienced by participants in outdoor public spaces, such as pedestrian areas, parks, and other spaces. To understand subjects' emotions, we followed a procedure of surveys using situation-response questionnaires in a closed, controlled environment with participants (N = 217) belonging to three universities of different countries: the University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico;Polytechnic University of Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain;and Via Domitian University in Perpignan, France. The set of 10 frequent emotions related to urban lighting mentioned by Calvillo Cortes was used for the study. Cross-cultural comparison of answers about the emotions felt by participants allowed us to classify the emotions in two types: the emotions commonly perceived among the three groups and the emotions particularly perceived by each group attributable to their cultural background. Based on that, we present conclusions about the relation between the emotions and the lighting parameters of the scene. In addition, we present a theoretical exploration of other researches related to subjective approaches on lighting, pointing out that emotions are not as widely studied as other psychological responses to lit places. This requires further conceptualization of the theoretical framework to increase the focus on the importance of emotions in the design of urban lighting spaces, providing more pleasant and healthy user experience.

This paper explores differences and similarities between novice and expert users of interactive artifacts. In order to achieve this, protocol analysis was used to identify users' cognitive categories, knowledge categories and knowledge representation. This research is based on the premises that knowledge — domain-specific knowledge in particular — plays a significant role in distinguishing a novice from an expert user, and the way in which they use technologically interactive devices. The differences between expert and novice users were compared and identified with associated knowledge and knowledge representation for each cognitive category. These constitute the features that differentiate them as they reflect the kind of processes, representations, strategies or knowledge organisation that may occur for each cognitive category during the interaction. The paper also addresses the transitional process through which a novice becomes an expert and concludes about this finding's implication to design.

Given the terminological difficulty surrounding conceptions of "research," this paper articulates a primary methodological division to create a space for valuable and unabashedly non-scientific modes of inquiry within the field of design. First, this paper will more firmly establish the designerly category of research-for-inspiration as differentiated from the more traditionally scientific research-for-information. Emerging from the authors' experiences advising design students' independent-study projects, this approach is specifically linked to issues of innovation that exist during the problem/opportunity definition stages of the product development process. Secondly, the paper will offer four general methodological categories of user-research to help define the range of research-for-inspiration. It is believed that this initial effort toward understanding designerly research is capable of alleviating deleterious misunderstanding and evincing the value and efficacy of such an approach within, at least, the "fuzzy front-end" of the design process.

International cooperation on space flight project development starts on earth by way of professional introductions between prospective host organizations and collaborators with major and minor actors. Complex prior projects provide insights and the ongoing foundational knowledge from which new innovations can launch and new ideas can come from both seasoned researchers, and commercial partnerships (NASA, SpaceX), but also fresh minds as the knowledge sets are brought together and interact to form new innovative perspectives. Universities as research test-beds for capturing the imaginations of new professional generations are an exciting environment to focus discipline skills and recalibrate career ambitions and trajectories. Space exploration exemplars as the International Space Station (ISS) provides an example of an enabling platform where cooperative relations in developing, constructing human habitation systems provide evidence that national and international collaborations are core to the development of future missions and lunar habitation. Future long-duration spaceflight and exploration missions will require from the crew to perform at their maximum capacity. Habitation architecture and spacecraft design must respect habitability needs including health, functional and safety requirements, which should be addressed at every stage of the design process: “considering people to be more than an 'element' of the system but its modifier and innovator‥ (Haeuplik-Meusburger S., Bannova O., 2016). This paper presents the results of a cross disciplinary approach to habitation system development for long-duration missions (LDMs) in relation to crew health systems;and alternate activities for managing stress triggers in confined environments and explored via a project-oriented strategy. Students from involved universities and programs have advanced their design for space interactions through identifying and acquiring information and knowledge, analysing it, and synthe

This research aims to generate architectural design recommendations based on the visual reconstruction of the Lalitavistara reliefs from Borobudur, addressing the urgent need for building designs that retain the distinctive character of Nusantara architecture. The proposed design is intended for application in Ibukota Nusantara Indonesia, integrating smart city and green city approaches while featuring a unique visual style that incorporates historical artifacts. This need arises from the current trend of building designs in Ibukota Nusantara Indonesia, which predominantly adopt an international style and lack the unique elements of Nusantara architecture. To address this, the research adopts a project-based methodology, utilizing blueprints derived from reconstructed Lalitavistara relief panels, developed through 3D modeling and further enhanced by digital imaging with the assistance of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The expected outcome of this study is to provide a method for designing buildings that showcase a distinctive Nusantara-Indonesian style, along with recommendations for a digital design workflow supported by AI to finalize 3D modeling visuals.
