This review deals with critical issues in the development of energy-efficient windows from two fundamentally different approaches, namely, spectral selectivity and photothermal effect. This review is therefore divided into two parts. The first part reviews the engineering considerations based on an ideal window concept in terms of spectral selectivity, glazing scale, seasonal factors, and related thermal transfer. In particular, spectrally selective window designs and metal-based thin films are introduced with optimized engineering parameters and physical properties. The second part introduces a new approach of thermal insulation via the photothermal effect of the nanostructured thin films and coatings. The key that limits the heat flow through windows is the thermal insulation, which is traditionally constructed by multi-pane structures with an insulating layer. A novel concept not relying on any insulating media, but photothermal effects of nanomaterial coatings has been recently proposed and experimental verified. Both concepts of spectral selectivity and photothermal effects are introduced for energy-efficient window applications. A new direction is proposed in the development of the energy-efficient windows via the photothermal effects in various nanostructures of thin films and coatings.

Following by Jinjang New Village and Serdang New Village, "Ampang Chinese New Village" as the third largest Chinese New Village in Malaysia, it was the historical resettlement of over 60 years which cause by "Briggs Plan" in 1950 and became a specific living type. By the changed of population organization and conditions of used, combined with an economic factors and construction systems, generated a changed of external form and internal pattern of housing. In this research, in addition to the establishment of architecture basic data of Chinese New Village, with more attempt to the transformation of types of housing before and after, to explore the characteristics of housing space in Chinese New Village, with the purpose of sustained the building study of New Village. By selected the ways of field investigation and interviews, explore the modes of evolution on the function of housing spaces in Ampang New Village. The research performed with three representative samples of both housing alteration types and further with housing floor plans as analysis. The results show that the rules of evolution for the construction of additional space generally located in the open space behind the original house, with an average value which not exceeding 100㎡ floor area. Mainly use of building materials with wood, wood construction, zinc, is a non-permanent of materials. A transformation on partial space function was shown after housing alterations, but there was no obviously improvement of living quality. Living needs of users be the main considerations reason for redecorate, coupled with economic factors, with purposely performed in alterations of needs and restoration of damaged. However, Ampang Chinese New Village had witnessed the type of Chinese living space under "Briggs Plan" which was significance of historical buildings preservation, but it remains to be preserve and redecorate to improve the poor quality of Chinese living space inside Ampang Chinese New Village.

Factor analysis of semantic differential data, with forty-eight cases of collegiate lecture rooms psychologically assessed by students during regular classes, has established that distance evaluation forms diagonal coordinates together with overall evaluation. Multiple regression analysis has then explained psychological distance in five variables: room depth, natural lighting, illumination, window-opening ratio and student density. The ratio of room depth to breadth and main window area on both sides are also explanatory variables, supporting hypotheses of tunnel effect and window-frame rhythms as increasing factor. A multiple-regression equation explaining 69.4% of variance has revealed that 100-180 lx increase of illumination should compensate 1.8m decrease in room depth.

Land is split in to land parcels supported size and ownership. This land parcel is that the lowest unit in local level planning of villages in Indian context. During this research, a study was conducted to reinforce land parcel level Biocapacity using soil and water as parameters at villages of Gudiyattam Block, Vellore District. The Gudiyattam block consists of 44 panchayat villages including Gudiyattam town spatially encompasses an outsized area. Planning for such a large region requires significant resources of manpower, time and technology. Additionally, the enhancement of Biocapacity requires land-parcel level information. With the given time and resources, it's impossible to do that. Therefore, Gudiyattam block has been divided into performance zones. From each performance zone one panchayat village is taken into account for the analysis. This research used available data for a given year and validated the land parcel level planning as a reliable method for enhancement of biocapacity. This method also has the potential to be used with high-resolution satellite imagery to capture crop data periodically and use that as a basis for computing biocapacity at land parcel level. Land parcel level planning enables precision farming with high yields to reinforce biocapacity. This research used current crop data at land parcel level to spot the potential for higher yields to reinforce Biocapacity.
